I wouldn't say Stefano wasn't a threat to Hope. He was a threat to her for most of her life! She had just gone through trauma and he pushed her to her limits. He got what he deserved.
Again, he was not a threat to her at the moment she was pointing a gun at him.
Just like Ben wasn't a threat at the moment Abbigail set him on fire. She lured him to the bed, it was intentional. Stefano goaded Hope , laughed at her dead husband and was evil to the end. She put him out of his misery.

I never said that. And I know all that. Rafe is still a wannabe and I just do not care about anything Stefano did to him.
It doesn't matter if you care about what happened to Rafe or not, it still happened and it's the reason he doesn't care that the monster is dead!
but he's a cop..he's sworn to uphold the lawyer...he's made himself, judge, jury, and has explained he's willing to be executioner too.

he broke into the house

and afterwards... Abby snapped completely...

she didn't go around and go to see Ben's family and act like "Hey!!"

she didn't frame his family..

She went and signed herself into a mental ward!!

Those two specific instances are entirely different. Ben was only present at all to be a threat to Abby and Thomas. That was not the case for Stefano. Hope confronted him. He didn't confront her. Ben confronted Abby. Abby didn't confront Ben. Meanwhile, Abby was insane. I think Hope could have a case for some insanity too, but Abby was way further gone than Hope was. Abby had broken with reality before Ben showed up.

She did that BECAUSE he was a threat to her and the baby. The whole reason he was there was to be a threat to her. That was not the case at all with Stefano.
I wouldn't say Stefano wasn't a threat to Hope. He was a threat to her for most of her life! She had just gone through trauma and he pushed her to her limits. He got what he deserved.
I guess I am confusing pity with justice. Hope deserves to be punished because Stefano was not threatening her at the time. His misdeeds although many did not come to play in this instance. He was a weak man in a wheel chair that she shot.

I feel sorry for Hope because of all the hell Stefano put her through the years but as another poster on this board always states the bad guys always win. Stefano did win in the end, he repeatedly destroyed her life along with Marlena's, Roman's, John's and never spent more than a nano-second in jail. Andre hired an Aiden look a like to try and kill her but since it can't be proven, he gets to skip merrily along his way to continue to wreak havoc.

As for the comparison to Abby, why didn't Abby call the police before she tried to light him on fire? Wasn't Ben tied up and no threat at that point. Abby snapped under the strain. Somewhat similar.

Ben went to the mansion as a threat to Abigail (and Thomas, really). Stefano didn't go to where Hope was with the intention of threatening her, Hope went to HIM.

Brady who IS a freaking Kiriakis, as the show loves to remind us every three seconds, and who therefore wouldn't have to take the extra step of asking his ex to check with the Kiriakis employees. (I know it's been said already but it bears repeating.)

Dena is partial to Brady. Can she please, please notice how terrible he looks in the slot the show currently has him in and fix it?

Lol, though, that none of Steve/John/Paul thought Brady was the guy to call for help as the only mother he ever knew burned to death...
The kicker is Dena wrote Brady really good with them the last run before they left in 09.
She wrote Brady really well in general! She considers that baby switch storyline to be her crowing glory as a soap writer... well... Brady was a major player and he was very sympathetic even when he did some morally dubious things. To my mind, Brady sitting with Nicole after her miscarriage is one of the core scenes of who Brady should be, and it's something I think of when I'm trying not to write off the current incarnation of the character.

I mean, it was certainly better than the detached disinterested dislike he generally directs at his current love interest, who admittedly has done nothing that should reasonably attract him...

Abby might have lured, Ben, but Ben broke into the mansion

With Hope and Stefano, neither one lured the other and Hope didn't break in after breaking out of a psych ward.

Abby had a good reason to be terrified of Ben, Hope didn't have a current reason to be terrified of Stefano....angry with, yes, terrified, no.

because Abby had already lost her mind, she was seeing him everywhere, everyone was against her..how could they not clearly see Ben standing there...

He's right there...He's right there!!

And IMO, Hope's biggest crime was how she reacted, it's true, maybe she just snapped, but she came to herself after Rafe arrived, and instead of doing the right thing as a cop...

She dumped raw sewage on the manure.

Abigail tried to run from Ben in the living room. He physically grabbed and told her she wasn't going anywhere. He had already knocked out the guard outside.

Also paul is stepson of the year. Love him. He cares about Marlena.
Better than Brady whom she raised.

Who is Brady!!? I'm lost here? I've completely given up on this worthless grown ass man who still lives with his granddaddy and is waiting to be handed grandpa's company that he built from the ground up!! As Victor Newman would say.. move out, get a life and build your own corporation!! He is no son of John Black and Isabella Toscano. I'm waiting for the big reveal that he was switched at birth and is the son of Victor and Maggie (egg baby no.#2) And the real Brady Black is out there somewhere and J/M go on an adventure to find him and bring him to Salem.

Let face it... IMO there is no comparison.

Abby had a mental breakdown caused by a man who tried to kill her, set her on fire and take her baby. It wasn't long after these event's that she tried to kill him... because she lost her mind!

Stefano did torture Hope for YEARS... but she never took revenge AT THE TIME! Hope was facing a man in a wheelchair, who called her a, and I'm paraphrasing, "Predictable Coward... and her dead husband too..." and she shot him.

Hope should go to jail... I just wish she was taking Rafe and Roman with her.

And when all is said and done... it should have been John and/or Marlena who killed Stefano when he was a fully functioning psycho! ;)

I'm on record as saying I didn't think the comparison that Rafe was trying to make was that big of a stretch, but even I agree that trying to compare the threat levels is ridiculous. Not to mention that Abby wasn't a cop.
Cop or not, Hope is a woman who was pushed to her limits by a lifetime of threats to herself and the people she loves. I don't think the comparison between the two is a stretch at all. Both went through severe trauma and lost their minds and each had the men in their lives cover for them.
To say that Stefano was not a threat to Hope just because he was sitting in a wheelchair doesn't make sense. He had just finished trying to have her killed.

He was still a full functioning psycho at the time of his death and this line of Chad's that he was a changed man is BS!

I loved today's episode! Haven't been able to say that in ages.

Great scenes between Hope and Chad. Billy Flynn was wonderful.

DAYS is a show that benefits from action and today is a perfect example of why. These were easily the best scenes Orpheus has been given since his return, and the way it was done was extremely engaging and more believable then it has been in the past.

Rafe is absolutely incredible. He is truly a horrible person. Still a big fat no to Rope... but I love that Hope has been exposed and while I'm sure her and Rafe will win in the end, I like seeing them under much deserved hot water. I still hope that it is revealed that Hope didn't actually kill Stefano and that someone else did. I think that was a huge mistake to turn her into a cold-blooded murder. So out of character.

I even didn't mind the scenes with Sonny, Paul, and Derek. It was light and actually kind of fun. And hot damn did Derek look great in that cowboy costume, not even going to lie.

Overall a great episode. I wish the show could be more consistent in delivering them.

The Derrick, Paul and Sonny scenes are so cringeworthy. That time off did Freddie no favors, jeez.
Without Will, the flaws and weaknesses of the Sonny character & the forced pairing of PaulSon are becoming glaringly obvious. Both are so full of holes there's almost nothing there. I'd rather Sonny go back to Paris & they pair up Paul & Derrick ( tho' they'd have to do some work on Derrick)

It does make sense when the context we're talking in is about physical threat. He absolutely was not a physical threat to her. At all. She was there by choice.

No one is denying the issues between Stefano and Hope. I don't think anyone is saying Abby was right and Hope was wrong. Just that the two situations have too many differences for the comparison to be so even.

I thought today was a good episode even if it had some flaws. I liked the Chad and Hope scene although I usually ff thru hope. I actually watched without ff thru anything today. The rescue scene was kind of odd but I think it was because of Drake being out.

I liked the Sonny/Paul/Derrick scenes it added a little humor in contrast to the other things happening. I always love to see Sonny.
