Deimos should hit the road with Dario and stay far-away from Salem.

I bet were going to see Marlena and Kayla flashback in burning coffin for 2 months. That's what I hate. I don't mind two or three times to show but not for long time so they can kill the airtime.

So I guess the original intention was today as a J&M day which would have been nice but they did what they could. Do we not see S&K until next week? And did Jennifer really lead with bad news about hope and not Kayla almost burning to death to Lucas and Adrienne? Come on.

Theresa, you don't need confession about your miserable life. You need to get the hell away from Salem ASAP.

The problem isn't people talking about Hope's problems (well, it's not the only problem). The bigger issue is that Hope is the focus to the exclusion of EVERYTHING else.

Kayla has brain surgery and is in an unsettled situation with Steve. Hope comes to visit. Do they talk about Kayla's stuff? Nope, we get one line of dialogue and then it's on to Hope's problems with Rafe and Aiden.

Jennifer is fighting a drug addiction and loses her daughter. Hope comes to see Jennifer. Do they talk about Jen's issues? Nope, we get Hope confessing that she killed Stefano and Jennifer comforting her.

Three villains are on the loose in Salem. Do we see Hope trying to protect her friends and family? Being worried about Joey and Claire? Nope. We see her talking to Rafe about Aiden, or dealing with Aiden. With the sole exception of the pub scene with Jennifer's explosive vest. That's it. And that, of course, was about Hope being a hero (and reaching out to Rafe). It wasn't even about Jennifer, really.

Marlena comes up with the profiles on the convicts. J&M and S&K recruit people to help with the plans to bring them down. Who gets the award from the City? Hope and Rafe.

Kayla and Marlena are kidnapped. Roman can't even be bothered to help. Why? Because he's too busy dealing with Hope's confession to a crime she committed. Oh, and they couldn't dare not have Steve and John find out about it in the midst of their crisis.

Jennifer and Adrienne decide to buy the Spectator. Why? Because they don't like the coverage of Hope. Surely, the Spectator didn't became a bad paper overnight. But this is what sends them over the edge. Hope.

So yeah, I'll stick with my #Hopefest2016 description.
Maybe I should clarify because your not wrong. I don't feel like she is eating the show the way she did last year and I guess that because she isn't on every day like she was prior it doesn't come off as bad to me. I am able to look past it easier, I suppose. Last Fall and for the first half of 2016, she was on every episode nearly and it just made it more difficult to tolerate. I mentioned in my previous post there have been some annoyances (many of which you pointed out). I don't consider The Spectator one of them. The Hope angle is what keeps that from being some random, out of nowhere story beat. Could they have had characters mention how awful the paper has been before now? Sure. I won't argue that. But using Hope is a spark to that beat isn't a bad thing IMO.

I guess I am just used to this and I don't get as bothered by it (it's more of a nuisance to me, honestly) because it's been a common theme on this show where they get fixated on 2-3 characters and use them as the focal points where everyone and everything needs to revolve around them. Hope is just the latest. Marlena, Sami, Kristen, Nicole, Daniel, John...I could go on. I guess I am just happy they seem to be writing Hope, herself, better, at least lately. I will take what I can get with Dena at the helm.

The best part of the show was Jennifer/Lucas/Adrienne and Nancy telling Deimos to back off. I'd really enjoy an episode where all the residents of Salem just stand in line and take turns punching Deimos in the face.

The thing is, for me, that it doesn't matter if she's not on everyday if she's still being talked about every day. I don't hate Hope (or KA). I hate the singular focus the character gets. So whether I see her or just have to hear about her every day, it's kind of the same thing.

And yes, I know that other characters have gotten similar treatment. Guess what? I hated it then too. I hated the Days of Melanie's Life, the Days of Daniel's Life, the Days of Sami's Life, etc., etc. This isn't some hatred I've developed because it's Hope. I'm enough of a fangirl to admit that if it were Steve and Kayla getting that kind of singular focus, I probably wouldn't complain (assuming the writing was remotely decent) but I'd sure as hell understand other people complaining about it.

The other problem is that I have very little reason to believe that this is going to get any better. If anything it's going to get worse. Hope's going to have her sentencing hearing and then, I'm assuming, going to prison. Everyone will be rallying around her and worrying about her and whatnot. And after the last year I just need a break. I've always liked Hope, I really have. But I'm all Hope'd out at the moment.

Oh, forgot to add this.

The show has an issue, in general, with characters dealing with things in the proper way. So much is made about how characters mention Hope and her various plights rather than other characters they should be mentioning but that isn't the true extent of the issue.

For instance, during this entire storyline with the villains, characters weren't as reactionary as they should have been. Why didn't we see Joey and Claire worried about Kayla and Marlena? Why is Brady kept away from J&M? Where is Ciara and Claire discussing what is going on with Hope? I go on and on. They may be obsessed with Hope and have everyone all focused on her but they don't even do that right because they limit their scope. I would like to see others besides Rafe and Roman involved more because the more scenes you give others with her the more likely that it isn't always about her. That is the issue. The bubbles have burst but still not enough. Hope barely gets scenes with anyone outside of Rafe and Roman. Maybe if she did, there would be more focus on others in scenes with her. The show is just doing a really crappy job of utilizing characters. They are using them but not in quality ways. It's like they are using them just to use them. That may be the biggest issue right now. The interactions are good but they are more meaningful when they are balanced and happen frequently.

Oh, I get it. There was once a time where I couldn't stand it and it made me actually hate the sight of certain characters. I guess I just developed a tolerance. It sucks and Days has always had an awful habit of doing it. I never understood it. The show is an ensemble. Write accordingly.

It doesn't seem to matter who writes because whoever takes over will do the same thing only with different characters or maybe even the same characters. The only writers IMO that have not done that in the past 20 years IMO are Brash and Cwickly and Hogan (to an extent).

So Brady wants to move out of the Kiriakis mansion like a grown up!!? Yay, 2 points for Brady. Now to earn a third one he'd have to go check on Marlena at the hospital. In fact that hospital scene should have been with him and not Faux.
