Quoting limited to 3 levels deep Sonny had wanted to marry Paul but Paul wasn't prepared to out himself.

The relationship sounded a lot more intense than a No Tell Motel Low Rent Romance.
Sonny and Paul were together for almost two years and they were in love so much so that Sonny asked him to marry him so I think it was a lot more serious than a Low rent romance.
That tacked-on plot point was ridiculous.

1. When Sonny proposed to Will (long AFTER Paul) it was because the Supreme Court finally made the ruling and they could FINALLY marry (not true either. at that time gy marriage was only legal in a handful of states) which means...

2. When Sonny supposedly proposed to Paul, gay marriage was only legal in 3 or 4 states. WHy then would he be proposing to Paul (or any other man for that matter) when it wasn't even legal then? I mean...remember that scene?

Sonny: "I have a crazy idea..." (you know, since it's not legal or anything and you're a closet case who will only see me alone in cheap hotels)... "let's get married."
Paul: "You're right. That is crazy."

So romantic....lol

It was contrived and forced when they tried it. Didn't buy it then, not buying it now.
I thought That backstory for Sonny and Paul was lame. It did not seem that romantic sneaking around to different hotels while Sonny followed Paul on the road during baseball season. Hiding from friends and family, sneaking in through the hotel kitchen, and hiding in the bathroom whenever room service/maid service or fellow sports colleagues would drop in.

I could see Sonny at the time this supposedly happened (before June 2011 since that is when Sonny arrived in Salem after "traveling the world climbing mountains etc) possibly asking Paul to live together - but not to get married. Look how long it took Sonny to finally ask Will to marry him - they lived together for several years before finally getting engaged.

How long it took Sonny to ask Will to marry him?

Will had some issues of his own.

I can see why Sonny waited with Will.

I really wish they would fill up cups with actual liquid when the scene calls for it. It's very obvious the cup Hope is holding is empty, despite her sipping from it.
During the summer months they show a lot of people with glasses of iced tea. Why Don't they do the same during fall/winter scenes or at least fill the cups with water. At least then it would look like they are actually drinking something instead of holding empty cups. Even the scenes at the outside cafes with the real coffee cups, it does not seem like they have any liquid in those either.

I just can't understand the point of this Theresa story. I think just killing her off would've made much more impact and better story.
It doesn't feel like an exit story or the end of Thrady, and why I think they have a return in the works, if not with her, a recast.
With the way JL is still so involved with the show on social media, I'd bet she'll be back as soon as they ask her... As soon as they can get Brady involved with someone else. :yawnz:

My big issue with todays ep...as with most recent eps was: This might have been a decent episode if I actually cared about any of these characters or story lines. But for lack of story development (one) and dislike of some characters--Thrady, R(H)ope (two) I just don't care.

I mean...does anyone actually think Hope is going to get the death penalty? Please. Don't even bother taking it there because no one believe that's going to happen.

The stuff I wanted to see was okay. Whatever.
Dena Higley DID write Victor Jr.'s execution on OLTL so it could be a possibility. But then again Days of our Lives would be known as the soap that executed three people (John, Sami, Hope) and could be seen as outrageous. It was outrageous enough when on Passions JER had two siblings (Theresa and Luis) executed 5 years apart while during Luis's execution, Sheridan tried to fry Theresa in the prison's electric chair. I'm sure there might be one that I'm missing in terms of soap executions (ones that actually were successful: all the above had their hearts stop) but I can't think of them.

Though no, I don't think Hope would be executed. I think they will follow the same path they did when Dorian on OLTL was on death row after being accused of murdering Victor Sr.: have her languish there and have nightmares about her execution until something happens that gets her out.

If they hadn't done John's gas chamber execution in Aremid or Sami's lethal injection for killing Franco, THEN I might see them trying something. Hope flatlines after the drugs are administered just as the governor calls issuing a stay (same thing that happened with Sami actually) and she is revived (by who I don't know: Mike revived BOTH John and Sami). I can't see Dena taking it there, especially with all the problems the death penalty is currently facing.

I'm not sure if this happened? Steve then meets with Adrienne, who slips up the name of the man she’s marrying.

If it did I must have been fast forwarding but I don't remember a Steve and Adrienne scene.

I knew Adrienne had to have something cut. She was only in that one scene. I'm not even into that wedding and it's annoying they keep cutting important scenes

No that did not happen. Adrienne was with Sonny at the beginning. When she left Sonny and said "take care Justin" we never saw her again.

Meaning she says Justin instead of Lucas? Where did you read that?

I agree they probably won't do it but I enjoyed the gas chamber scenes in the 90's. They were suspenseful and for the focus they needed. John ran to rescue Marlena right after his, totally believeable.

John wasn't actually guilty and Sami wasn't a heroine type character. There's just no way they'd go there with Hope. Meanwhile, we already know she gets out of prison. Maybe (MAYBE) if they'd let us think KA was leaving it could have been slightly dramatic but I doubt it. They're just not going to execute Hope Williams Brady.

Honestly, why are they having this wedding and continuing to cut scenes leading up to it?

Good scenes between Sonny and Justin.
Today, Thursday at the beginning of the show, Adrienne had but 25 words with Sonny and wasn't seen again.

I have the feeling that again scenes were cut. I was hoping to see Justin and Adrienne in their own scene, but of course it didn't happen. I don't understand if Lucas & Adrienne have a wedding coming up and Justin is going to do something, maybe to derail it, why isn't there more story for all of them?

I want more of these characters and their story. There was a spoiler coming up that Adrienne will be supporting Justin because he is upset with Hope's dilemma.

I will always want Adrienne and Justin together but I can certainly understand others not watching their scenes because these scenes are so few and far between, it is very obvious tptb and the writers don't give a dame about them so how can the audience, and cutting most of the scenes relevant to their story speaks volumes. I hate them for what they are doing to Adrienne and Justin and their fans.

OMG, so there was a scene of Adrienne's cut today after she was with Sonny, and with Steve (if it couldn't be with Justin then Steve is as good as second best). Stop with the cuts!

It saddens me that tptb will not allow the audience to partake in a story with Adrienne/Justin/Lucas. Why not, what the hell is the problem? Most of the audience love these characters and have for many years.

We have only seen two scenes where Justin showed that he still cared and showed remorse for Adrienne but we have not seen anything at all from her regarding any feelings for Justin. This is senseless writing, there really is no story here and it saddens me deeply because I have been waiting so long for a Justin and Adrienne reunion.

It goes without saying that I believe Justin & Adrienne have paid their dues and should be a front burner couple. Tptb are idiots for neglecting this dynamic and charismatic couple.

They have not shown one bit of Adrienne even doubting the wedding and it's next week. If it doesn't finish for whatever reason where she's torn, I just haven't seen anything that would make me think Adrienne doesn't love and want to marry Lucas. Really silly.

I can't tell you how much I despise Dena as a writer on Day's.

Her love for the characters she has created is nauseating and so unjustified.

I want to see a compelling story for Adrienne/Justin/Lucas and I am not getting it.

Dena has got to stop cutting their scenes.

I want to enjoy the journey that Justin/Adrienne and Lucas are taking but it is just impossible with all the missing pieces in their story.
