Maybe an increase in demo numbers is seen in same day+3 day DVR/same day+7 day DVR ratings. I can totally imagine that people 18-49 are busy and tend to watch the show when they have more time.
Maybe. But that doesn't matter. They're going to get renewed regardless so really none of it matters. But it'd be nice if they had to dump Higley. She'll be wvl to buy more time if it keeps going this way. Her demos were also bad in 2009 despite the overall total improving.

NBC still could do it if they wanted. CBS did it with Y&R's EP and HW - and their total ratings were solid and more stable than Days' when they did it lol.

When Days' renewal comes up in a little bit, the top folks should show off the December ratings only.

The January-November, 2016 ratings? Tell them the dog ate them.

Oh, I know they could. And I know they want to. I just doubt they will.

Lol. Why are they so indecisive then? It's not that these numbers are great or that they don't know that there's a general trend for the ratings to increase around holidays and in winter.

Because Corday supports her. They are probably also as tired of the constant regime changes as we are.

These ratings don't reflect any of the DVR numbers or the viewings on the NBC website/app, do they? I wonder what kind of increase Days gets off of those numbers. It wouldn't surprise me if some viewers in the "younger" demos (18-49) do most of their watching online.

I'd maybe come back to the show if Dena got canned (and my favorite characters stayed put), but virtually none of the stuff I've been catching up on over the last few days on this board sounds very promising. I also fear who they'd bring in to write the show since I can't think of any "good" soap writers who aren't already working elsewhere or who would even be interested in writing for a soap again.

The definition of "live +same day" ratings:

"Live+Same Day (Live+SD) program ratings: Measure the average viewing of the entire program (including ads) through 3am after airdate. For a 60 minute show, a viewer that watches all 60 minutes is counted as 1 average viewer for program ratings purposes. 30 minutes watched counts them as 0.5 viewer, etc."
http://www.tvgrimreaper.com/2015/10/14/c3-commercial-ratings-vs-livesame-day-program-ratings-from-week-1-do-they-change-the-prediction-picture/479/
(btw, it's quite an interesting article from 2015).

FOX position (2015):
Fox To Stop Using Live+Same Day Ratings

Thanks. So, these ratings are Live+Same Day? I guess I wasn't totally clear on that before.

That TV Grim Reaper article was interesting. Some of it still goes over my head, but I understand the general process. Overall, I think the Nielsen system is quite flawed, but that's what we have for now, I guess.

DAYS is really hit or miss for me. Some eps, I am like I LOVE THIS SHIT. And other episodes, it is just DELETE, goodbye. It depends on what storylines are being featured. It's lopsided to me. But I have no idea where any of the stories are going, in a bad way.

They are trying to improve it.
ICYMI

The Nielsen company will try to measure out-of-home viewing:
http://deadline.com/2016/10/nielsen-to-measure-out-of-home-viewing-for-first-time-1201841898/

They are in the process of developing a tool to measure viewers across all platforms—not just TV watchers - Nielsen's Total Audience Measurement:
http://www.adweek.com/news/television/first-look-nielsen-s-total-audience-measurement-and-how-it-will-change-industry-167661
http://www.nielsen.com/us/en/press-room/2016/nielsen-total-content-ratings-statement.html
However, according to NBCU the tool isn't ready for the release yet:
http://deadline.com/2016/12/nbcuniversal-says-nielsen-total-content-ratings-not-ready-1201871612/

I wonder how we will be able to compare the numbers if they add out of home viewing numbers etc down the road lol.

Does anyone know the last time any show has had a ratings press release? And does anyone know the last time Days had a ratings press release?

I just realized these recent increases must not be what they're looking for, or they'd be making a big deal out of them.

I may be wrong but i think last time was when Stefano and Daniel died the first week in January 2016 when ratings hit 2.9 million viewers i am not sure if they one in between then and now i don't think so but you know better than me.

CBS Daytime had this one:

Are some of the articles on SON based on networks' press releases? I am not sure.

W18-49 and W18-34 are what they are mostly talking about ;) .

This seems to be correct. According to NBCU Media Village, the last press release about ratings was released on January 14, 2016: http://www.nbcumv.com/news/days-our-lives-generates-its-most-watched-week-two-years?show=151365&network=33129

No ratings press releases in a year = ratings are horrific.

I recall a lack of press releases even when ratings have been good. Thinking back to the past few years, it seems like they only seem to do it during the periods they consider critical (sweeps for instance).

Well that's why I was also asking about the other shows. The ratings for the last two weeks are the type they'd usually do a press release for and they didn't. But I think NBC has been pretty unhappy the last couple of weeks....I'm not sure what they're looking for anymore though.

Why would they do a press release for the last two weeks?

They not even that good not even at 2.5 million viewers and i am just asking a question here not acting smart but in recent years in the past they never did press releases for the ratings Days is getting now especially with they low demos.
