Days is very close to going under 2 million viewers they better start gaining viewers soon or this may be the year that it actually happens. |

I wonder when Y&R will realize that something in their current vision isn't working. |

That surprises you? Sussman has been atrocious. Y&R is pretty much unwatchable. Generic fluff and shallow drivel is all we've gotten under her hand. I think she needs to be fired, sooner rather than later. |

I'm not completely sure my numbers are correct but here are the all-time lows in the demo or in viewers. All-time lows in women 18-49 Y&R: 542,000 (week of 2/13/17) B&B: 444,000 (week of 3/6/17) GH: 365,000 (week of 8/17/15) Days: 343,000 (week of 6/13/16) All-time lows in total viewers Y&R: 3,960,000 (week of 4/2/12) B&B: 2,642,000 (week of 9/11/11) GH: 2,162,000 (week of 2/13/12) Days: 2,045,000 (week of 7/4/16) CBS soaps have already hit new lows in the demo since the beginning of the year. Things look better in total viewers, unless Y&R has a really bad spring and falls below 4 million. Days will probably establish new lows in the demo and in viewers soon, they are really close. |

Y&R' current trend is very similar to 2012 when they hit that new low: Posted Image |

The trend looks similar indeed. According to wikipedia, Maria Arena Bell was the EP at the time, she was fired in the summer and replaced by Jill Phelps. |

Very strange to see Y&R almost in the 2s. Too bad because I think it's better than it's been in awhile. |

Y&R equals.......boring and STINK! featuring AH (Boretoria) everyday isn't helping them. nor their dull Hallmark Channel style stories, featuring wishy-washy characters. They better buck up soon, because Les Moonves dont play well to shows that are bleeding viewers. |

Well said. not all of the writers under Bell knew how to write without Mr. Bell. besides, when Mr. Bell was writing.....the audience attention span was different. look at the prime-time TV shows today since Mr. Bell has passed.......they are different from previous ones like Dynasty, Falcon Crest, Dallas, Knots Landing, etc. Therefore the writing for soaps today should not resemble writings of thirty years ago. Imagine if Sussman presented a story like Y&R (now) to prime-time TV execs as a Pilot.......she wouldn't even get the time of day. |

Well I don't really agree that the pacing is the issue. It's the lack of story that's the issue. I really don't know what stories she's trying to build. It just feels like every couple weeks there's a new mini plot that comes out of no where. |

Exactly. That's my issue with Y&R too. Those mini plots not only come out of no where they also go no where lol. Edited by thepadange, Mar 19 2017, 02:57 PM.

Well the so-called "mini-plots" comes off as mediocre. look at that kidnapping story, it was travesty. Lauren's business storyline was yet another travesty. Bitchlary/40-Watt (Devon) separation was another travesty. Boretoria's teenage son return was another travesty. |

I like Hilary/Devon and Ashley/Ravi. Phyllis/Billy too but they rarely interact. The rest is annoying and repetitive, especially Victoria/Billy, Jill/Colin, Chelsea/Nick. |

I've never seen a soap like Y&R. The characters literally do nothing for an entire hour. Just random boring conversations. Like what was the point of Cane and this whole hugging the Japanese business man? Its just strange. I understand why Sally didn't get the job the first time she applied. Also, I do think she focuses way too much on the 50+ crowd at the expense of the younger characters (here's a hint: it's called the YOUNG and the Restless for a reason). And the mini-plot goes no where. All they do is talk about this new mini-plot. Someone needs to teach Sally about plot Climaxes. |

I find Days with its shitty writing and shitty acting more fun to watch than Y&R. At the very least Days has couples with chemistry and there is stuff happening. SS needs glasses because all she does is force boring zero chemistry plot driven pairings down our throats. She also really shot herself in the foot with her interview, showing her inflated ego, then failing (so far) on her promises. |

I can't knock her completely. She has still given me more to look forward to when watching than Pratt ever did. The flashbacks, the use of history. I still find the show overall in a better place than it was a year ago. But yes, it is boring.. and she's seriously lacking in a lot of areas. |
