In the Days social media thread there was talk about how Laura Wright and Michael Fairman were going on about how it makes no sense Maurice Benard wasn't nominated. I'm glad he wasn't nominated and was so glad not to see his face pop up on the screen when the noms were being announced on The Talk. It was nice for awhile a few years ago when he was on the back burner to the point he was whining about it at fan events. |

Weird that it's John Aniston's first nomination, but it's not deserved this year. The only nomination Days deserved was Kate Mansi's. |

While I have been annoyed with Chad the last few months, I do think Billy Flynn had an excellent year last year, especially with Abby's mental breakdown and Abby's "death" storylines. So I will be rooting for both Billy and Kate in their categories. As for this being John Aniston's first nomination, in a way it doesn't surprise me. It's not that he didn't deserve a nom before. He did, especially in the 80s through the early 90s. But Aniston's style of acting isn't usually the kind that Emmys favor. Emmy voters like showier actors (Tony Geary comes to mind) but JA usually brought a cold unflappable style to Victor. Still it feels like John Aniston and James Reynolds' nominations were more out of Lifetime Achievement Award type recognition than actual merit. With the two episode rule, I can kind of see where Aniston got nominated. He did have some good episodes, like when Victor found out Phillip betrayed him or when Victor was forced to give up everything to save Maggie's life. Heck I even liked the scenes where he finally softened toward Theresa. I'm curious as to what episodes James Reynolds submitted. I would guess when Abe was in the hospital after getting shot. While Reynolds did his usual solid work (and his scenes with Theo were touching), I don't know if it was award-caliber. I know Arianne Zucker and Melissa Reeves didn't submit their work for Emmy consideration, but I think that's a shame. Particularly in MR's case as she was outstanding in Jennifer's bottle episode last year. It was arguably the best acting she has ever done and it's doubtful Jennifer will get that strong of a material again. I also think it's a shame that Suzanne Rogers wasn't nominated either. While her storylines have not been great (her paralysis and especially the God awful Summer storyline), SR has been very good and more often than not able to rise above the awful material. At least she is more deserving of a nom than James Lastovic. I mean really who does this kid know? :( |

There's not a two episode rule anymore. I thought Suzanne and Ari both sucked last year. Like a lot. |

Oh reel watching time! Well. I definitely don't like the new guidelines. The individual clips in the reels are too short, and they're kind of confusing. Lexie Ainsworth - I've liked her before, but I really didn't enjoy this reel. I don't think the first scene belonged on a reel, I don't think she has chemistry with whoever plays Parker, and I don't enjoy MB, so the last scene was rough for me. Reign Edwards - I thought she was really good. However, she might as well have been playing against a cardboard cutout. I'm not convinced she wasn't...and in this particular instance, it took away from her not having someone to really play against. Regardless, I still think she was good. Hunter King - Her reel was the most choppy. She was fine, but I've already forgotten what she did. Chloe Lanier - I did not like her at all. Alyvia Alyn Lind - Her reel was by far the longest, and it was also the one that felt the most like reels of the past. I thought she was really good and a better crier than most adult actors. If I could vote, I'd vote for Alyvia. But I also think Reign is deserving. I don't care for this category existing, but in my insignificant opinion, it exists for actors like Alyvia. Either way, I'd be pleased with either Reign or Alyvia winning, and I think both of them put every younger actress on Days to shame. |

My rankings: 1. Lexi Ainsworth - I had seen about half of these scenes before, but I thought she chose well and she was great. She's the only person that cane make me tolerate MB. I may be a bit biased here because I'm more connected to her character than the others as I've watched Kristina for years. 2. Reign Edwards - She was good, but nothing grabbed me. I could see her winning though. 3. Alyvia Alyn Lind - I see why she got a nomination over adults like Camila Banus. She can cry and is impressive for a child actress. I didn't like how her reel seemed like the same type of scene over and over again, but that probably happens a lot for the kid actors. I find Faith annoying, but I guess I'm not judging her character, lol. 4. Chloe Lanier - By far the most disappointing to me. When I see her on GH, she always seems to be killing it as far as her acting goes. But this reel was so WTF. It doesn't highlight her. It focuses more on MB. I also couldn't take my eyes off of Chad Duell either. He outshined her in that scene. None of the acting in these scenes showcases the actress she is IMO. 5. Hunter Haley King - Meh. Nothing much here. |

Younger Actor is usually the worst category for me. Not looking forward to watching these, lol. |

Ha! I was going to say the same thing. This category is a real chore. Pierson Fode's reel seems like it's really Lindsey Godfrey's. MB ruins every reel he's in. I think TR is good, but I feel like his reel is the same every year. JL's is not good at all and actually looks even worse next to the others (some of it was fine when it aired, but out of context...). I haven't watched much of the last one, but the whole first half is the guy's intro and it's not really reel-worthy. He's not bad, but the material isn't calling for his A game. |

On Tuesday they announced on The Talk that Mario Lopez and Sheryl Underwood would be hosting the Daytime Emmys. No mention of being able to see them this year. The Daytime Emmy Facebook page says to come back Thursday to find out how we can see them live. https://www.facebook.com/DaytimeEmmyAwards/posts/1242823455825006 |

I still have to watch the rest of the Supporting Actresses, but she was great. Were you surprised at anything in her reel? I was a little surprised her Ben scenes were not longer. I'm glad she included a lot of the good-bye at the clinic, that was so heartbreaking. That last scene with JJ was really good too. I forgot about that. I was also expecting her reel to be closing in on 20:00 because she had so much stuff she could have submitted. Edited by Restless84, Apr 12 2017, 05:50 PM.

I didn't see the scenes with JJ until now, and those were well done. That single tear rolling down her cheek! Wow! I also wished they included the scene where she dug her ring into his shoulder. " You sure as hell FEEL real to me"! LOL! No words need be said about the clinic scenes. Sooooo good! I'm really enjoying Marci, but Billy and Kate are just magic together. |
