I hope Days can hang in there until Ron's material starts. As ridiculous as the writing is, I am not bored out of my skull and enjoying the entertainment. |

This reminds me a bit of what used to happen 20 or so years ago whenever CBS soaps were preempted for basketball. The other soaps used to benefit and see increases. That has not been the case in years so I don't know why it would help Days and GH this year but I also can't think of any other reason why either of them went up especially Days. Days did nothing last week and March has been an awful month for ratings (along with April) for years now. I don't think the big NE storm did anything to help either because that was early in the week and Days saw bigger numbers as the week went on. Whatever the case, it is good. They were headed for scary numbers. The better they can hold, the easier it will be for the show to rebound come Fall. I could see this maybe ending up like what happened at the end of MarDar's reign. Stefano's murder and some of the stories at the end of their run gave the show a little boost and that helped to position them for Tomsell. Hopefully, that happens here with the upcoming murder mystery in early summer and such. |

Decent numbers for Days in total viewers, up from last year! GH is doing pretty good in the demo, they might beat Y&R soon. |

It is interesting to see how many women aged 50-54 are watching soaps based on the difference between the 2 demos. Every year, a lot of soap fans turn 50 or 55, growing out of those demos. Unless soaps find a way to create a new generation of fans, demos will keep shrinking and shrinking. I know a lot of other programs have the same problem and the industry has to adapt, but I'm not sure how much longer the 4 soaps can survive. |
