OUCH! :shame: So finally it happens.....We drop below 2 million. Just last week I made a post that Days was lucky it didn't have 1.6 million viewers. Days is getting what it deserves when it comes to viewership, but it doesn't make this less hard to watch. I hate watching Days in it's current state. Ron is a good fit, and Sheri having some creative control helps! They have a MESS to clean up. |

What a terrible year for soaps. Look at all those lows...

It's tragic if you love this genre. I started watching decades ago. My first memories of Days was the "Salem Strangler", a story that started a resurgence for Days. I watched it go up 1983-1988. Then it went down from 1989-1992. Then it shot up like a rocket from 1992-1998. Sadly, with some brief upswings (Brash and Cwigly, JER 2.0, the Sami/Nicole baby switch) Days has gone in a downward direction since 1999. Now, this is a spiral, and with Mid July being the target date for Ron's stuff (with Anderson helping), we have TOO LONG and TOO MUCH HACKLEY LEFT. I Agree, ALL SOAPS are suffering but Days just dipped below 2 million for the first time. That, To Me, Is A HUGE DEAL. The show deserves it, but that doesn't mean I'm not worried. Can they turn this sinking ship around this time? With Days at all-time lows in almost every damn demo, with less than 2 million viewers supporting the show as we head into a transition that sounds like it will be slow in nature.......I'm concerned. |

You and I started watching around the same time! And I agree with you. All the ratings are bad, and that makes me sick. This genre has such a hold on me after almost 40 years of watching! What makes me so angry is that DAYS -- with its unparalleled fan loyalty -- didn't have to get this bad!!! I don't understand how Ken Corday never seems to learn from past experience. This falls squarely on his shoulders, in my opinion. I'm still hoping that Ron can save this show again, and I'm hoping that Sheri has a significant contribution into what we see on screen. Otherwise, I'm afraid the sand has almost run out. Still hoping for the best... |
