I'm not especially heavy on sympathy for Gabi but as far as what she did to Nick, anybody remember "The Burning Bed" with Farrah Fawcett? That woman waited until her husband, who had severely beaten and abused her for years to go to bed, doused the area with an accelerant (gasoline?), and then set him on fire, left the house, and let him burn to death. No conviction, no jail. Nick may not have physically beaten Gabi but the mental and psychological torture can be paralyzing, too. |

Agreed. Yes, Gabi murdered him. I don't really think that should be what's up for dispute. But, the reality is that he had it coming. He made her life, Will's life, Sonny's life, Arianna's life (and countless others) a living hell. Yeah, okay, Nick 1.0 wasn't so bad. But he was still sick and twisted. You can hate Melanie all you want, but that doesn't change the fact that he fucked her up during that whole storyline. He deserved to be treated with judgment because even if there was some good in him at the very beginning, he let how psychotic he was get the best of him. He made his own bed, now he has to lie in it. |

Remember Sheri is involved too, and like Marland, Bell, etc.....she doesn't like whiplash changes. Ron did slowly rebuild GH at first. He got all his players in a row first, then he turned up the heat. The current cast is.....with exception of the vets, cringe worthy. I expect some dramatic exits and even more dramatic arrivals leading to stories that snowball. Ron is the closest thing we have to JER left in daytime. Kristen will be so much fun this time. |

Except mental and psychological torture wasn't the story that was told. The story that was told was Gabi gleefully gloating as Nick blackmailed other people on her behalf, inviting Nick back into her bed, and ignoring the warnings of every important person in her life as they lined up and told her to stay away from Nick, offering to help in any way they could. There was no subtext of offscreen torture played by either of them-- because the show was so desperate to keep the identity of Nick's killer a secret that neither one of the actors could have known to play it that way. Blake Berris, who was always open about how awful his character was, basically implied in his exit interview that it didn't make sense. Camila Banus covered by saying "well you'll see a flashback and then you'll understand." Then the flashback turned out to be Nick threatening Sonny as Gabi eavesdropped, and Gabi explained that she thought it was only a matter of time until Nick did the same to her. Not that he was already doing the same to her. That she thought, possibly, he might in the future. At most, soon after his resurrection Nick made a few taunting allusions to Kate/Sami/Gabi pushing him into the river. (This was before Gabi started giddily skipping around Nick like a schoolgirl.) And you know what? I have a hard time weeping for Gabi about that. What Gabi did in knocking Nick out was fundamentally right, and no jury in the world would convict her if he had died then. Following it up by not checking to see if he was breathing before tossing him in the river to drown was not okay. Likewise, the other thing Nick "had" on Gabi-- her involvement in blowing up Salem because she wanted Chad-- was something Gabi should have paid for, and something that was as crazy as anything Nick ever did. The story sucked and made no sense, and Gabi looks like a first degree moron if you paid any attention to the details. |

My last pro-Nick post this round, I promise: Nick was mentally stable and highly moral. Nick got shot protecting Melanie. Nick was lawfully prescribed painkillers to which he had a psychotic reaction. That was when Nick gaslit Melanie. If you want to look at crimes for which a good lawyer could have kept the character out of prison, look no further. Nick opted to go to prison anyway as penance for Melanie, and by the time Julie got him out of prison his sentence had lasted eight times longer than it was originally said to be. |

What was Nick's actual prison sentence .I still think Julie should have gotten him help that's why I feel when she harps on Gabi it's her own guilt talking |

I hate the so-called "Nick 2.0" more than I've ever hated any other character in the history of this show, and I was thrilled when he was killed off, so I'm admittedly biased here, but, IMO, you're not starting at the right point with the so-called "Nick 1.0"'s instability. Don't forget that one of the very first stories he ever had was the Lonely Splicer thing, where he was essentially cyber-stalking Chelsea. Nick was never a stable character, as far as I'm concerned, and I don't just say that with the benefit of hindsight; I never really cared for him during his first stint on the show, either, although I didn't actively despise him back then. He had issues right from the start, and they only got worse as time went on. Most here see what happened to Nick as an example of a character being repeatedly thrown under the bus, but I maintain that the slow progression of increasingly disturbing versions of Nick made perfect sense and totally fit the original version of the character. Nick was never just the "lovable, geeky good guy" most people seem to fondly remember him as. There was never a Nick 1.0 or a Nick 2.0; there was always just Nick, getting progressively more disturbed, obsessive, possessive, and controlling as time went on. In other news, all the "he had it coming" comments in this thread have made me remember how disappointed I was that we never got to see Gabi sing this on a very special musical episode of Days. (Okay, I didn't really want to see that, but it might have worked in a so-bad-it's-good sort of way.) |

Nick received a sentence of 5 years. He was out in a little less than 4. Gabi received 10 and was out in just over 1. |

Hattie and Brady. LMAO. And she's struggling? I'll die if he realizes what's going on Love the J&M try to escape one. I hope one of them gets hurt trying to escape. Maybe andres announcement is he dumped Kate lol. Probably over the dumb comint though Idk about Tripp moving in with Claire and Theo either. It's all too neat how it's nbd about what he did to Kayla and how easily he was manipulated by Jade and the Vitalis |
