I'm so pissed they wasted Commissioner Raines. It was so great to have someone who was impartial heading the Salem PD. I should've known it would be short-lived. Total shame. Aaron D Spears is a good actor, and I feel he could have made a great new character on the show, and could of generated good chemistry with many actresses for possible pairs.

I hope this isn't the last we see of him. :(

Lol I guess the cast and the crew are happy to see DAYS doing good now and want to show their support to Ron who actually cares about the show & the characters. I was surprised to see so many of them tweeting about it.

I see nothing wrong with the actors or Ron posting about the ratings. They are invested in this show and their jobs. Why not create some excitement? I am happy for them!! Go Days!!!!

It's gonna look silly if they fall this week. I'm glad they're excited, but weeks like this happen and then they lose all of their gains the following week. Nothing wrong with them being happy, they should be. It's just a little overkill for that type of week.

No one said there was anything wrong with it. I was the first person to say it was a good week. I'm just saying they should calm it down. It's one week.

I agree. People can get excited if they want to. Whether its just one week or not, they can and should get excited.

It is nice that it was a good week but it doesn't mean anything at all if the next three weeks don't follow in kind.

As an add on to my previous post about Raines, I really hate the way DAYS approaches bringing on new characters. Too often they bring in new faces and big names and shove them onto the canvas, pushing for their audience to love them. It usually doesn't turn out that way and fans either have a lukewarm or negative reaction to the characters and they never last (e.g. Daniel, Madison, Jordan, Serena, etc). On the other side, they sometimes phase in secondary characters in more minor roles (e.g. Sean Douglas/Vargas, Aaron D. Spears/Commissioner Raines). Their introduction is subtle and gradual, rather than sudden, invasive and forced. They bring in lesser known actors in the daytime genre, but they are often just as if not more capable than their peers, and fans take a liking to them. This seems like such a more natural and healthier approach to bringing on new characters. However, the show never invests in that kind of talent they bring on (at least not in a more long-term sense) despite the positive feedback that is out there from the fans. It's incredibly frustrating to see this talent wasted - the "phase in" they have previously showcased for characters like Vargas and Raines is much more of a successful formula than the invasive method they often use for their new characters of choice and I'd wish they'd apply it. After phasing in a minor character that fans seem to like, it would seem logical to then take the approach of expanding their role on the canvas in establishing a fresh role. I feel like they'd have the ability to bring in new characters that last this way. Vargas and Hope would have been such a better alternative than the Rafe and Hope mess we have now, and god knows what they could have done with Commissioner Raines, but the potential for greatness was there.

ITA with your entire post and especially about Vargas and Hope. Now they had chemistry and it wasn't a forced kind. Ron C seems like the type of writer that could bring Vargas back at some point. Maybe to give angst to Rafe/Hope. Hope needs a bad boy anyway. I like Rafe but only as a cop, his romantic pairings fall flat.

If I was the current head writer I would not be bragging about one week of increased ratings, I wouldn't even be bragging about two. I would be waiting a little bit and making sure that the trend in viewership has shifted.

The casts responding to RC's post about ratings is called kissing your boss's but. That's how I see it. I don't blame them either.

Nothing wrong with positive vibes and excitement from the cast and crew. But I think posting about one or two weeks of ratings increases is a bit over hyping.

Just my feelings.

On the other hand, if the ratings gains aren't hyped, then the masses may only hear about the losses because so many people make a point of the losses.

At the same time, DAYS is at such a critical point, it needs to be propping up any gains it amasses. So I can understand why the big celebration, they need it. I hope the trend continues!
