Can JJ be considered racist when he's dating an AA detective? Especially, since his gf is the victim's sister.

I thought there was a pic of CM with blood on his shirt. So maybe JJ was shot during the shootout along with Theo.
Actually, this would be the sort of thing it would be nice for a show to tackle. From lifelong personal experience - dating, being friends with or having a child who's part of a certain group does not mean you're free of bias toward that group.
Yep. Look at the Kardashian's who have been racist towards black woman on multiple occasions, while dating black men and giving birth to black children.

*** sorry for going off topic

I think Nicole will leave town with Holly, alone...and Brady will have nobody to blame but himself.

Nothing for Chloe, as usual. So disappointing.
Wouldn't she be about to have her baby??? ( I suppose we could reuse the Stan substitute).
NB most likely went on maternity leave a few weeks ago. She hasn't even given birth yet according to her last few tweets. There is no reason for her to be MIA when this stuff was taped in March/April.
She already looks pretty pregnant on screen...

Gabi is only important because she's Arianna HORTON's mom. Otherwise lol, important my ass.

Lucas has a problem with Sonny moving on? Sonny has been dating Paul for how long now? He should've already had a problem if he was going to.

What exactly is a cops worst nightmare... (re: JJ)
I could see him having a problem with Sonny getting married, though.
It just seems ridiculous that he would have a problem with Sonny moving on NOW. Did he just assume Sonny would never marry again? That's not how this works lol
I hate this because all it's going to do is make Lucas look very bad. It's ridiculous to him to get all bent out of shape over Sonny deciding to move on and get married again. It's not like it happened right after we saw Will murdered for God's sake. They're going to make Lucas look really stupid and I hope someone in either Paul or Sonny's family tells him to take a few seats and go to rehab for his drinking problem. This may make me hate Lucas.

I'm not liking that Lucas has an issue with Paulson getting married. It reminds me when Will came out and started dating Sonny and they made Lucas not accepting it right away. I know that it's a plot point for WILL, but it's a bit late for them to have Lucas be vocal about Paul and Sonny when he never said anything against them and they have been dating for months.
My memory of it was that Lucas was OK with Will being gay (under MarDar) and it was Sami who had the issue with it until EJ told her what to think and patted her on the hand ..... then for some inexplicable reason Lucas regressed under TomSell and had an issue with it later on.

Sorry but, both Rafe & Hope covered up a murder and framed an innocent man for it! Neither should be cops anymore let alone Commissioner of Police.

It says Eli is looking for another job, let him be Police Commissioner!

I...like it. It feels like forever since Days had a head-writer of RC's caliber, and I'm not going to waste a moment of this precious time, lol. The characters are becoming interesting again, and it's great they are attempting to tackle socially relevant issues.

Do I love everything happening on the screen right now? No, but I've been watching every day since RC took over, and that hasn't happened in a long time. Cautiously optimistic for the future of Days...

I thought Lucas's issue under tomsell was that he thought Sonny was a player and not good enough for Will. It's also not unheard of for people to accept something in abstract and struggle with it when it becomes more real, like accepting the concept of Will being gay, but still being uncomfortable when he actually finds a boyfriend.

I do not agree with what I'm about to say.

I think Days thinks they "fixed" Hope and Rafe with that Prague story. I don't think it being a problem is even on their radar. Maybe it is now based on twitter feedback, but I bet it wasn't on anyone's list of needs when they started planning/writing.

I was just reading the Susan Banks wikipedia page and read a plot point from the 2014 Susan appearance that I had completely forgotten:

Quote:

Susan refers to EJ and her "first born," suggesting that she's had more children after him.

I can't help but wonder if the upcoming stories could potentially involve younger siblings of EJ...

Yeah, I never understood that. Why did Lucas say that? It was so random!

I think this is clear since Hope pretty much received a hero's welcome. At this point, it's too late to do anything about it, though. It'd be more than a bit hollow if rope turned in their badges after two years of this.

No mention of Jennifer or Chloe is a bummer, but at least Jen will probably be involved in JJ's story and hopefully Eric's. I hope Eric isn't actually leaving/going on hiatus.

Maybe Eve and Chloe become friends? They're both kinda loners in Salem.

Right. And I'm with those struggling with it. But I think we're past the point where they can fix it now.

True, but there is a bit of a difference from "fixing" what Rope did and moving on and essentially "rewarding" them by making one of them commisioner. What made Raines work for me as commisioner was the fact that he did most things by the book and criticized anybody over the smallest bias or bending of the rules. Now of course, he's a dirty cop who is making Rafe and Hope look much better in comparison. Even Roman lost a lot of integrity by covering up two murders. Personally I hope they make Eli or even Lani (although she's likely too inexperienced) the next commisioner. But it probably will be either Hope or Rafe. :(

The rest of the fall preview looks pretty good and I'm willing to see how most of it plays out. I hope the Bonnie storyline doesn't drag out too long. I'm not crazy about the doppelgängers storyline to begin with (although some moments have been pretty funny). I think the longer they drag out the storyline, the stupider the other characters will look for not realizing the differences.

If JJ does indeed shoot Theo, the potential racial bias should be addressed. But I think it will be interesting if the show also brings up it's history with Abe accidentally shooting two innocent people (although I blame Roman more than Abe for Brady's shooting). That could be used as a plot point for when Abe eventually forgives JJ.

The most annoying thing about the Prague story is that they came thisclose to actually fixing what Rope did. Obviously it required some white-washing of how they handled the fallout of Stefano's death, but establishing that Stefano had survived and somehow tricked them really took a lot of the burden away of the aftermath -- it kind of reframed it as Stefano pulling one over on his enemies (as implausible as that was given what we saw play out). And then they blew it in the final moments with that stupid Shane fakeout! I know there was that tease that Stefano actually did survive, but it was too little, too late, after they had Steve and Shane compromise themselves to save Hope from what they "knew" she had done.

I think someone might have brought this up to Eileen actually. It was really interesting that they wrote that line. Ron said he researched the internet for the character histories so you never know.

I'm fairly comfortable labeling that twist as the dumbest thing Days has ever done. They'd salvaged rope, and given the best goodbye to Stefano that they could, under the circumstances, provided closure for the Marlena/Stefano story, one of the most important relationships in the history of the show, then they threw it all away. For no good reason at all. The editing department had no qualms about butchering scenes, but no one thought to cut that reveal after JM died and they knew this would be the last time the audience would see him. Now I'm annoyed all over again lol.
