Quoting limited to 3 levels deepyears.

This is the man who wanted to marry his pseudo-stepmother so badly that he blamed his brother the priest for being raped. He vacillated between telling her he despised her and going back to her.

This is the man who wanted to marry the woman who almost killed his father with a fire poker, framed him for the deed, and emotionally blackmailed his previous girlfriend out of town by threatening to take away his son. Again, he vacillated between telling her he despised her and going back to her.

This is the man who entered his current relationship without buildup because everyone in town told him he was in love and he decided that they must be right, then pressured the woman in question to agree when they were in an isolated situation that left her indebted to him.

Thankfully, EM is quite a good actor who has exceptionally good chemistry with much of his on-screen family, so Brady isn't a total loss or irredeemable IMO. But I don't find his behavior regarding Ericole any more repugnant than his behavior with respect to Kristen or Theresa.
What I mean is it's like they are trying to make Brady a villain on purpose. Brady has been shown as not making the best choices in the past. But to be manipulative to his brother is just not something I would have imagined him doing. Being jealous and making smart remarks I can see from him. But to do something that would make his own brother want to leave town. That is just awful.
I don't think it's nearly as awful as trying to beat the hell out of Eric for being raped by Kristen, mocking him for being raped (but hey EM got an Emmy for that set of scenes!), and essentially disowning him for months on end. This is Brady when he's off the wagon because his romance is imploding.
I was wondering if the Kristen thing will come up during their argument this week. EM mentioned it in an interview a while back.

I think the difference between this and the other Brady stories is that in the past his cold and callous behavior wasn't supposed to be his fault. He was either directing it at someone who supposedly deserved it so it was "okay," or the drugs made him do it, or he was the victim and someone else was to be to blame for the way he was acting. None of these excuses actually worked. The only thing he was actually the victim of was some writer's mistaken belief that you can have a hero do anything and they'll still be sympathetic because you say they are.

Too little too late. I still see Nicole through a veil of orange goo.

It's like good brother vs bad brother but Brady has never shown this kind of behavior before. It's almost as if they are trying to make him a villain. The fighting over Nicole is just dumb to me.
Really? I'm curious what part strikes you as out of character, because it seems exactly various things he's done over the past several years, to me.
Agreed. Brady has frequently been an idiot and a jerk regarding both his relationships and his family for years.

Brady has definitely acted this way before. I remember thinking it so odd when he found that deposit slip for $5 million in Nicole's room (bribe from EJ as I recall), had angry sex with her, then yelled at her and left.

I'm not sure how I feel about Brady right now, but I think it's kind of refreshing that this time he's acting this way AND being written as being in the wrong. That's not quite how things have shaken out in the past.

I didn't expect to love this story, since I went into it hating 2/3 of the triangle, but I do. The power of RC and Ericole. It's so satisfying to see Brady be written like the judgmental, immature trash bag that he is.
I'm really enjoying it too. I totally didn't expect to.
Me too! I was never a fan of either couple (both versions) but I'm really into this triangle.

Also, I never thought I'd see the day that I'd be rooting for Eric over Brady. :blulaugh:

Is Nicole a succubus or something? That's the only reason I can believe any of these many men have ever been hot for this one hot mess.....

I love Ericole and am enjoying them again. However, knowing that AZ leaves in two months, it seems pointless. I'm guessing Chleric vs Broe is next unless they bring in another female character for either Brady or Eric.

I don't think Brady is acting so OOC.

I probably agree to some degree with several of y'all that are at odds about Brady's behavior. He has acted badly in the past and really when I think about it yeah he has been a total ass to Eric in the past, but the difference was (and some have already stated this) that he was actually betrayed in some way (Kristen raping Eric even though what she did to Eric was obviously worse than Brady getting a broken heart) and he was immediately doing drugs for the most part when he was a REAL ass to Eric. I don't like the destruction to the Breric relationship because a lot of the time that GV's Eric has been on the canvas Brady/Eric have had a close, though conflicted/hostile at times relationship. I think Brady is being a total douche. It does feel out of character for Brady to have asked his brother to help Nicole in May and then to suddenly be kind of stalkerishly jealous of them. I can see the points made about this not really being out of character, but it seemed to happen awfully quickly without any real buildup or reason for him to be jealous.

Brady forgot who raised him and his Kiriakis is showing.

My problem with this s/l is that I am not invested in any of those two pairings. Bricole had no real buildup. Not so long ago the show tried to convince us Daniel was Nicole's great love, then there was Deimos. How can I now believe she is oh so in love with Brady or starts having feelings for Eric again? None of this has any substance or depth. It also has no potential as AZ is leaving.
I like the actors though. I think they are capable of delivering some real drama.I am also interested in how Nicole will leave and what her exit would mean for the rest of the canvas.

I agree it's not really a good story, I don't feel that invested either. I enjoy the Ericole scenes but that's mostly nostalgia from the TomSell years.

I'd like to think if they had more time, they would have spent more time rebuilding Ericole before all of this came to a head, but as it is I will still buy their feelings for each other given their extensive history. I'm sure it's asking a bit too much, but I'm hoping by the end we will have some kind of happy resolution to Ericole that still leaves Eric free to move on to other story after Nicole's departure that doesn't involve him being hung up on her for a long time.

This is what concerns me about this story, and why I am not enjoying it. Given how much in love Eric is with Nicole, I am worried about what they are going to do with him after she leaves.
I don't want to watch Eric pining for her for months. And it makes me wonder if any future relationship will even be believable

This is exactly how I feel.

Knowing AZ is gone from DOOL makes any investment in what happens impossible for me.

I'm enjoying seeing Eric/Nicole being Eric/Nicole again, but I agree Tomsell did it best. It is tainted by what we know about AZ and her preferences, but I'll always ship Ericole. They were what got me excited about DAYS when I was just kind of watching it secondary to GH. Now I don't even really watch GH anymore and I'm hanging by a thread only because of Ericole. I'll still watch when it's only Eric, but I am enjoying seeing some reparations made to the couple I love more than any other.

Eric is v pretty. His appearance seems to change week to week and I love it. Long hair, short hair, beard, no beard. I love it all.

I hope the show revisits Jeneric but only when Eric is over Nicole.
