Today's show feels like a primer for anyone who doesn't know the history of Sonny/Will/Paul. :yawnz:

I also appreciated the content of the JJ/Paul scenes, but I kind of felt like JJ wasn't the best choice to be having that conversation. I mean, on the one hand, it works because of family connection and same age group thing. But I don't really recall JJ being that involved in Sonny and Will's story at the time. So, it was just a bit strange to hear him discussing their love story. I mean, I know he was around at the time, but I don't remember him sharing that many scenes with them.
I think that's what bothered me about their scenes. JJ was never really involved in W&S's lives. Abby was more involved than he was. Maybe Paul's chat should've been with her.

It may just be that I really like JJ and really like Paul and was happy to see them out of their bubbles, but it didn't bother me at all. It seemed to me that JJ might be an easier talk-to for Paul because he wasn't deeply involved in every step of WilSon the way Abby was... but was still close enough to the situation that he stood up at the wedding.

Chad pretends he and Sonny are getting married 'my little Sonny bunny makes me the happiest man in the world' LOL
I laughed for two minutes straight over this!! Between the tears of joy and memories, this one line stole the show and was absolutely hilarious. Too precious!

I liked today's episode. I wasn't blown away by it or anything, but I thought it was full of necessary conversations and minimal filler. I remain confused by Abby/Gabi. Why is the show so invested in that friendship? Not only that, but it seems like they're afraid to showcase any real conflict between the two of them, which makes them boring to me. Jennifer/Kate was okay, but I don't think their scenes were really as deep and dramatic as they could've been. Too much company talk. LOVED Chad and his "Sonny bunny" confusing the tailor and especially loved Lucas/Will! My only real complaint about the episode is Sonny acting like he has experience with Lucas being drunk and the fact that they haven't hinted at Ben/Bayview in a while.

Lucas says Adrienne abandoned him like Sonny abandoned will
Did Adrienne have an affair with someone as well?

Wow, Sonny is bad in those first few scenes.

He starts off saying he felt sorry for Lucas getting dumped by Adrienne. Please. Sonny agreed to be best man for Lucas/Adrienne, then ran off to get Justin to interrupt the wedding, which was both bratty and disingenuous. Then when Adrienne chose Lucas, Sonny wouldn't even be civil about it (Justin was, and Lucas was when he thought that Adrienne had picked Justin, but not Sonny boy). So I don't want to hear Sonny justifying his bitching about Lucas by claiming he was some kind of sympathetic stand-up guy during the Lucas/Adrienne/Justin triangle, because he wasn't.

Then Sonny goes on about how Lucas is BACK TO being "a nasty, belligerent drunk." Sonny was not around the last time Lucas fell off the wagon and Dylan Patton was playing Will. So Sonny has no idea what kind of drunk Lucas was back at the height of his issues... and for the record, he went between being a snarky drunk and a weepy drunk. Lucas' current behavior is not him even when he is off the wagon, which is why the decent human beings of Salem are concerned.

"I don't care if he was in a coma. That's no excuse to give potshots to me like that." Yikes. Truly, Sonny's compassion is overwhelming. Are we sure he's Justin/Adrienne's kid? Maybe he burst full-formed from Victor's forehead?

As much as it squicks me out, and despite my well-documented issues with Chandler's Will, I may end up rooting for Paul/Will in this triangle.

ETA: And this fool will "never forgive" Lucas for bringing up Lucas' own son's name? Fuck you, Sonny. (But no fucking Paul. He's too good for you.)
I agree that Sonny was "not Sonny" at the start of that episode. Him being supportive of Lucas really did come off as disingenuous and insincere, especially since we all know that Sonny wants Justin/Adrienne together. And you're right...Lucas has never been a drunk around Sonny until now.

I know that they're trying to play into the whole angrier Sonny thing, but it really takes away from why so many of us liked him in the first place.

I will always ship Will and Sonny, but today was weirdly uneven from FS. Some moments he got me in tears, especially when he was reminiscing with Chad about Will. I loved how they finally explored some of his guilt by leaving especially and that he was very clear that he still loves Will. But that first scene kind of made me mad because it was kind of OOC for me.

And besides...Lucas has every right to bring up his own son's name. LOL

I know I'm more of a Sonny fan than a lot of people here but I don't mind his Lucas bashing. The man just threw all of this BS in his face so it makes sense that he would be pissed. He'll get over it, I'm sure.

FS does need to take some acting classes, though, damn.
It didn't come off well to me largely because Sonny should recognize that Lucas is drunk and not in his right mind. I get being a little upset, but I thought his reaction was a bit OTT and, as others have pointed out, quite self-centered.

Oh shut up JJ. How about you be loyal to Will, your own cousin? Best thing that ever happened to Sonny my foot.

OMG, Will's list of people who love Lucas was gloriously delivered.

I.... have no complaints about Chandler so far. But I still have 16 minutes to go, so maybe he'll smirk and weep and all will be normal with the universe.
I didn't really see any of that smirking that people seem to reference today. BD's and CM's scenes were so moving today...their reminiscing just brought tears to my eyes.

Oh, I forgot to mention this earlier.

I kind of felt like they were setting the stage for Paul to graciously step aside upon Will's undead arrival today. And in some respects, I've always kind of expected it to go that way. But I think it would be more interesting/dramatic if Paul didn't make it that easy.

On the other hand, I think Paul deserves better than Sonny. So, maybe it'll be for the best. LOL.

I think stepping aside is how paul would handle it too. It should lead to a really interesting conversation between Paul and John and potentially some combination of John/Marlena/Paul since they lived a similar situation where the intent to step aside didn't work.

Paul was right about one thing....Will and Sonny getting married was a royal event. Everyone in town looked forward to it and wanted it to happen by the time the day came. :D :D

Well it looks like Will might be getting a chance to get back together with Sonny.
I doubt it. Paul will convince Sonny that they were meant to be since they are each other'S "first love." Paul likes to be right.
I hope not. Don't make us wait two freaking years suffering over his death only to resurrect him and have us not get Will and Sonny as a couple at the end of it. "First love" nothing.

Good episode.

The obvious weak spot was Abby/Gabi. The content is just ridiculous, and Abby is clearly still sedated.

The Kate/Jennifer stuff was fine. The dialogue was good, imo, and helped Kate look a little better than she did last week. I actually didn't have a problem with Jennifer's hair/look today. I mean, the color is bad, but I didn't think it looked bad today. There was something missing in their scenes, and I have to think it's just chemistry. It was just a little flat.

JJ/Paul is an odd choice, but they worked well together. Both of them need a friend, so I wouldn't mind if they stuck with that. I do think JJ is kind of an interesting choice for anyone to use to talk about WilSon since he has the same relationship with both. I like that Paul admitted to feeling very guilty, but I also like that JJ shut it down.

I thought the earlier Chad/Sonny stuff was better than it sounded in the write-ups. I think Sonny's guilt makes sense whether it's legit or not, and I'm glad Chad was there to counter it. I LOVED that Chad kind of struggled in talking about Will cheating on Sonny...because it was with Paul. It was subtle I thought, and a really nice touch. The stuff with the tailor was great, and was the kind of stuff BF especially does really well. I think Freddie improved a good bit mid episode. I don't think he has a good handle on subtext, though, which IMO was the problem early on. I think he probably wasn't supposed to play those scenes as straight angry.

The Lucas/Will scenes were really good. I'm not a particularly emotional person, so meh on that. The one moment that almost got me was Will mentioning his baby girl. I thought the dialogue was good and really played a lot like Lucas having a conversation with himself...which is basically what it was since it was all in his head. I thought both actors did well, and I liked that it played relatively quietly. It could have easily been very OTT. I personally think the show has done a nice job of showing that it's not just Adrienne dumping him that sent Lucas over the edge but it was really reinforced today.

Paul: Now that Will is back, I will graciously step aside. Sonny's marriage to Will never would have imploded if it hadn't been for me.

Will: No, Paul, I can't let you do that. I was the one who destroyed my own marriage, and now that Sonny has moved on I could never ask him to break his heart all over again.

Paul: No, everyone in town says you have this epic love. I can't stand in the way of that.

Will: Being dead has changed me. I'm the one who is going to step aside for Sonny and his first love.

Paul: Perhaps you didn't hear me. You take him.

Will: No, you take him! You wanted him so bad, now you have him.

Paul: You take him before I use my newly acquired super spy skills to make you take him!

Will: You take him before I dump cheese on your car radiator!

Paul: Um, what?

Will: That's how my dad and I used to deal with men we didn't want sniffing around my mom.

Paul: Your family's weird.

Will: Which is exactly why you should take Sonny.

Paul: No, no, you've suffered enough. Just make sure he gives back my championship ring.

Sonny: I'm starting to think neither one of you wants to be saddled with me...

Will/Paul: Who, us? (under their breath) YOU take him.

I'm a Sonny but damn! where did FS acting go, he's really bad... props to BD, he's doing great acting wise.
He has never been a very stong actor in the dramatic scenes. But he has not improved at all and seems to be getting worse. All depends on his screen partners.
