I think the real test for Carlivati will be November sweeps.

In 2015, they averaged 2.73 million viewers.
In 2016, they averaged 2.24 million viewers.

I bet he will end up somewhere in the middle. If it's lower than last year, it will be really disappointing.
It's not going to matter until November sweeps, but they need to pick up some steam first.
I think their big sweeps story is the trip to Memphis and that scares me a little bit. The idea is probably cool on paper but it might not look good because of the sets. They build Prague with the Martin house, TBD, St. Luke and the Salem PD.

If the actual story is decent, I don't think it matters if the set looks ridiculous. But that's been the problem. The actual stories haven't been decent lol.

Why can't they at least use some short stock footage videos for cities/towns - both Y&R and GH do that. And B&B goes on locations lol.

I think that's just something weird that happened because he entered "Good tv" for the location of his IG video.

A tweet 40 minute story before that one is tagged California. It's probably just a mistake. Mine says I'm in North Caroline sometimes.

Well, we have to remember that the trend for all soaps (and all TV shows in general) is decling viewership. It's not so easy to beat the numbers of the previous year even if the show seems to be better.
That is what often gets forgotten. Ratings for everything are down and will likely keep declining no matter what. I think the measuring stick has changed drastically ratings-wise. There were shows in primetime that got renewed last year that never would have gotten renewed before. As long as a show is profitable and competitive, it will remain especially when it comes to daytime.
TV usage keeps going down among young viewers:

So the demos will probably continue to shrink but the soaps don't have that many young viewers left anyway so I don't think massive viewership drops are to be expected every year.

I think we actually saw a new set for Memphis. A bar set Freddie posted in June. I'm sure the rest will be redresses.

Yeah, it makes me wonder if writing a Will "fake out" (i.e. ghost/vision) first wasn't the best way to go. If I wasn't spoiled and discovered that Will was only a vision/ghost, I'd be kind of disappointed/not inclined to keep tuning in.
I also think the issue is the ghost clearly left at the end of that episode. I think the rest of the week was mostly chabby wedding stuff, rope commissioner crap and Brady Eric Nicole (which I enjoyed)
I think all current stories suffer because of the lack of build-up (or rushed build-up). Brady/Eric/Nicole, Chabby, Paulson... I don't see it as the current writing team's fault though - we are not even 3 months into the new writing. I think RC's writing team couldn't afford not to rush through the storylines, there was no time to do it in more proper manner. I think they did it (and are doing it) as decent as it is possible. Days feels like a real soap again.

As for me personally, I can't say I am so very invested in any of the storylines. IMO there's a need of new romances, new couples with spark to care about and I don't even see the "pool" for it to happen. We also need intriguing/interesting characters. The bunch we have right now is not especially compelling IMO.

Agreed. They really have a couples issue right now.

My granddaughter is 12. By the time I was her age in 7th grade, I had a TV routine down for the fall waiting for certain shows to come back or new shows to start. The TV Guide Fall Preview was read from cover to cover multiple times.

She doesn't watch TV unless I have something on that she is interested in.

She watches YouTube videos and vloggers almost exclusively with Netflix thrown in.
