Ron and Sheri didn't take over yesterday. They've had time.
They've been busy finishing Dena's messes. This is finally mostly the new regime. It's been mostly Dena's stuff until now, Steve hanging with Abs and Sonny is not top of the list. Also, 2 months is not long, esp with a limited budget and contracts and stuff to consider.

Steve was gone for years and years, it's not like he had a super close relationship to Abby or Sonny and then just didn't. I get you wanting it, absolutely do - I want Brady to not be an asshole and have his super close relationship with Marlena and John again, but things don't happen overnight. Give it a chance.

And... he's there... a familial connection was acknowledged.

Right but when someone says give the writers time I say they have had time.
Oh, I don't think they need time. I don't think that's a priority for them at all. But if it hasn't happened before now, IDK why it would happen at the wedding.
Why not? The last couple of days have been about family. Some complain that the writers have to get S/K out of their bubble, I think why not now.

Why was Gabi sitting in a chair? My God the insecure wanna be the queen bee gets on my nerves at times! They had space by Jarlena for She and Ari Which Bonnie should've probably sat instead of squeezing through that role prompting Nicole to look at her like is home girl serious :D
Also Gabi had to follow behind Arianna as she dropped the flowere petals. That little girl is old enough to walk down the aisle without being followed.
Almost made Gabi seem like part of the wedding party.
And that couldn't have been the plan because Gabi wasn't even sure if she was going to come at one point.

Because I don't think they're interested in Steve and Kayla. Though even the writers who were didn't seem to pick up on those particular relationship. IDK why. Aside from that, I do think they need to get them out of their bubble, but I don't think the wedding was the time for it. It'd have just seemed trite since we've seen nothing before.

I don't think it would have been trite at all. All it would have taken is for Steve to have a scene with Abby talking about Jack.

I mean I wasn't aware Paul and Brady were so close.

I don't know. I think they've done a lot trying to build a connection with Paul and Brady like when Paul went to Brady for help with finding out information from Xander and Paul realizing Brady was close to drinking and stuff like that.

They weren't, and it's weird. Though they did start having them interact more before the wedding when many of us started talking about how weird it was.

Why is that all it would have taken? He's also related to Sonny. But I mean...the wedding of Paul/Sonny and Chad/Abigail just isn't about an uncle none of them knew growing up.

I didn't say anything about making it about Steve. I just don't agree with those who praise the new writers for always recognizing family now.

They're doing a better job of it than before. It's just not perfect.

Thank you JCP.

You are right, they don't want to write for Steve and Kayla and that is why I don't trust Ron. I knew it would be my characters that got shafted.

They are doing much better than before. It can be hard when a favourite isn't as included as you would prefer. (There are still problems - Brady and Claire's lack of involvement with J&M is awful but at least Claire now appears to acknowledge Hope as a grandma.) Overall given such complex and intertwined family relationships reestablishing the parent, child, grandparent and sibling relationships needs to take priority over uncle/aunt stuff.

It's MUCH better overall. I'm still waiting for Claire to see j&m though. It's been a full year.

And I know he was gone but they've had time since.

I liked seeing so many people at the wedding. Paul and Sonny's vows to each other were really touching. I thought it was really well done.

Thank You!

The point is it will never be perfect. We have to deal with what we have, and acknowledge if the show is going in a better direction so they know to keep it up. I wanted John to speak today, not Brady, but I didn't get my wish. I'm sure all the wedding guest wish that it would have been anyone except Brady by the time his strange and pessimistic speech ended. However if you look at the big picture it's starting to turn around. Days is better and more grounded now than it was at any time during Higley's tenure, and TPTB need to know we see that.

For those thinking it should have been "instant change".......it shouldn't work that way. It never turns out well if they change the show over night and it's suddenly "so much better". Why? Because even when the old writer sucks, continuity matters. Douglas Marland and Bill Bell were not writers who instantly changed everything. Sheri Anderson doesn't do that either! JER was methodical his first run, but tried instant change on his second run, and we all know JER 1.0 was much, much better than 2.0!

Most long time viewers know that Stayla are related to Sonny and Abby.

I thought today was all about Chad/Abby and Sonny/Paul.

Steve and Kayla were included in the pre-wedding festivities. And they were present for the wedding. That's more than John and Jennifer got. Their connection to the bride and grooms is a bit closer, afterall.

None of the audience was really highlighted.

I thought the show was well done and hit all the right notes, given production concerns and budget. Even the boring shows, which today was not, are so much better than the ones by poison Dena, imo.

For the last several years, it's been parents and siblings that are forgotten. Established ones with established relationships. I understand the frustration, and I'd like them to get everything in, but I think having the whole cast there (minus literally just a few) was a great step in the right direction.

I know. Given Shawn and Belle aren't in town I would have expected them to be parental figures to her. A bit like Tom and Alice with Hope and Jennifer back in the day. It's so odd
