Thanks everyone for translating, "The dude ain't dead." I replayed the promo several times but just couldn't get that line. I guess he's mumbling because Abby punched him.

I'm sure this will play out better in the show but I viewed the promo before the sneak peak pics and I couldn't understand why Ben was mumbling and as I mentioned above, couldn't understand his words at all.

I don't think he's mumbling. I heard him fine.

* the dude ain't dead sounds stupid * like Ben is not taking what happened to will seriously, he's just talking casually to one of his gangsta friends. I don't know why the show didn't just have him speaking in standard English for such a serious storyline where a character was killed off unnecessarily.

Probably because he's crazy.

Lol. It just dawned on me that the language was probably intended to fit into his character.

The line definitely reads like the ramblings of a crazy person, but I also think the casualness of the "dude" comment is powerful in the sense that it also displays a level of cruelty towards Sonny. By being so casual about Sonny's 'deceased' spouse is just another excellent layer to Ben's character IMO.

"The dude ain't dead" honestly sounds like something a guy his age would say. I don't think it's meant to be anything deep.

I don't think Will should ever be called 'dude', nor anyone with any respect. LOL I'd forgotten how bad of an actor Wilson is
Will is a dude. Why shouldn't he be referred to as such?

Yes I agree someone his age would say that, but it's not in a casual context where 2 friends are talking. My post was about the serious nature of this storyline where a core character who broke barriers with the gay community was unnecessarily killed off for shock value which did upset a lot of people, and by using the word dude, imo in this context what happened to will is treated as cavalier and something to just be brushed a side. To show the serious entrance to the start of this storyline, with bringing will back from the dead Ben, should have used will first name.

That's not at all how fiction or television or villains work. A character is being brought back from the dead. It's not serious.

I kinda understand what you're saying but you also have to remember that Ben is a little crazy. He thinks crashing the wedding and announcing Will is alive is a good idea. He attacked Will to begin with, lol.

should have used will first name.

He did... at the church when he said, "Will is alive!"

I get where you're coming from, but I can't really be too upset with Ben because he is the bringer of good news about Will being alive. At first, I thought it was hysterical that he said that. You gotta remember, Ben is a freaking psychopath and a murderer. He doesn't give two shits what he says, which, in a way, kind of adds to the appeal and intrigue he brings. I don't think he was thinking one iota about respect TBH.

Don't get me wrong -- I wanted to kill Ben myself for murdering one of my favorite characters, but I'm willing to give him a little bit of leeway now that we know that Will is going to be found alive and well after all. :blulaugh: :blulaugh:
