Didn't they take an extended break last December? I really hope they do get renewed even though I still haven't been watching everyday. It still feels like transition to me, anyone else? With Megyn Kelly tanking, the show's prospects are better as long as they stay above 2 million and make profit for NBC. |

It has felt less like a transition to me since the wedding stuff started. I don't think they announce those extended breaks even to the cast until closer to time, so hopefully they do have one planned. |

Also, yes. The Megyn Kelly thing might help a lot. They don't seem as concerned this year (which seems a little backwards to me). Their budget may be affected, though. |

It probably won't but contracts don't mean anything deep down they there just to protect the show if someone is not doing well they can fire them anytime they want. Its same at Days actor signs long term contract but very few get to see them out end of the day its business all about making money. |

Even with the recent statement put out by the show saying they hope that Days will continue for many years? Its seem's to be that NBC are happy with the show and its not going anywhere anytime soon. |

In the case of Today Show hosts, it's not the same as a Days castmember. "Days" actors make very little compared to Today hosts, and they have 13-week outs. When NBC fired Ann Curry and Billy Bush from Today, they still had to pay the entire (or majority of) the contracts: "When Ann Curry was ousted from "Today" in June 2012, the network was forced to make good on her contract — which paid her an estimated $12 million a year, for over two more years. In that time she appeared on NBC — you know, doing her job — a handful of times." "Billy Bush is closing in on a $9 million settlement with the network...Bush joined “Today” last May, and was getting paid about $3 to $3.5 million a year. He had a multi-year deal." So, even if they remove the Megyn Kelly show from the air, they would most likely still have to pay the remainder of her contract. It's not like the money would just be used for other things. Okay, that's where I wanted to post this: I think NBC News spent that money on Megyn Kelly, that's a totally different division of NBC Universal than the one that buys the rights to air Days, NBC Entertainment. |

That's the reason why I thought it wasn't very likely that she'd replace Days. It looks like her example once again shows how difficult it is to launch a successful daytime show. Which I guess is one of the reasons why networks are interested in keeping the remaining 4 soaps as long as they can. Edited by thepadange, Oct 15 2017, 01:22 PM.
