No, it's not good for Days, but compared to the rest of daytime they are down the least versus last year. I think people have this idea that Days can make a quick comeback, or that the writing right now is reflected in the ratings......well that's not the state of daytime right now. If Days does have a bump it's gotta really earn that bump over time. The whole point anymore is to stop the bleeding. We are up 34,000 in total viewers compared to last week, but down 90,000 from last year. The bleeding hasn't stopped, but it has slowed. |

I thought of a way to eliminate the year-to-year losses from the equation: comparing the soaps to each other during the same timeframe. Posted Image Women 18-49 Explanation: In Summer 2016, the average viewership in women 18-49 for the soaps was 477,000 (B&B counts half) = 100% Y&R averaged 602,000 = 126% Days averaged 379,000 = 79% In Summer 2017, the average viewership in women 18-49 for the soaps was 394,000 = 100% Y&R averaged 483,000 = 123% Days averaged 320,000 = 81% While both shows had severe year-to-year losses in the demo, the pourcentages haven't changed that much. Relatively speaking, Y&R lost a little bit of its advantage while Days improved a little. Posted Image Total viewers There's a lot less movement in total viewers than in the demo but overall, B&B gained some ground over the past 5 years while Days lost some despite a short improvement in the fall 2015. |
