Days almost lost all the viewers they gained last week that is not good the Nov Sweeps promo looks decent well most of it anyway so i think they could get at least up to 2.5 million that is got to be their aim at least. |

Posted Image Days, millions of viewers, month by month. Ron is gaining some ground but he's not beating Dena's numbers yet. |

So, is demos or ratings better? Days had great demos but not so great ratings. Good for GH...wow! |

At least they are up from last year not only this week, but also the week before this one. :D And given that the trend for TV-viewership in general is down it's not that bad. |

Posted Image I've updated this. It's the average viewership for the episodes by cast member. Overall, it seems that the vets bring a little more viewers than the younger set. But it's hard to make a case that so and so is good or bad for the ratings when the differences are so small (within 2% of the average in both columns). The luck of the schedule is probably a big factor: airing a lot in January or in July, airing a lot on Mondays or on Fridays, interrupted episodes, etc. |

Well, the Big Numbers dropped for this week, which was surprising considering Susan appeared this week. The good and most interesting thing is of course the demographics. DAYS actually had big gains in Women 18-34, which is the most important one. Tried to get into the actual article, but the site is shut down for some reason. |

Both affect, but demos are the ones that bring in the advertizing. Generally speaking, if a daytime show gets Women from 18-34/49 to watch, they are doing good. |

General Hospital is GREAT soap opera viewing again and the BEST it's been since the 50th anniversary in 2013. Edited by Vince79, Nov 13 2017, 08:35 PM.

Everything! The pacing, the way the stories move! It's very surprising, fun, it also has some intense drama and depth. It feels like the show has no filler scenes anymore. Everything that happens onscreen is important and leads to something. MY changed the direction of nearly every story but did it in a very interesting manner, all of it made sense. The show is really worth watching. |

Really? Maybe I'll give it another try in a few weeks. The only thing I've heard about the new regime that interests me is JT's return and I don't think he starts airing for another month. |

I am not sure what exactly would be of interest to you but I would strongly suggest to resume from where you left off. And as much unspoiled as possible. Even if the current characters or storylines aren't very compelling to you, the show is worth watching to see how surprising (and smart) Mal Young is wrapping up the old stories. The transition is quite unique and it's really an example of good storytelling. So if not for anything else, then it's worth watching to see what can be done with storylines written by different writers without completely destroying what was written. I actually can't remember the time I enjoyed a soap so much, including the episodes my favorites aren't in. Edited by thepadange, Nov 15 2017, 08:09 AM.

IMO all the three soaps I watch (Days, GH, Y&R) are doing well right now (I mean the writing). Definitely not the worst sweeps period for soaps. |

Thanks. Maybe I'll watch if I can find the missing episodes. My problem with Y&R is that there aren't many characters and couples that I love. I used to be a Nick/Sharon fan, if I heard they were going to get back together (and not just for a minute) I would want to watch. Since the recast, Phyllis is one of my favorite characters but her story with Billy is very frustrating because he's not over Victoria. I love Eileen because of Days but I find Ashley too boring. I used to like Cane and Lily but Sally has destroyed Cane. I thought the beginning of Mariah and Tessa was well done but I'm scared they aren't committed and will drop that story. I don't really care about the rest of the contract cast, I'm bummed that they got rid of Chloe, I really liked the actress. Edited by Hugo, Nov 15 2017, 01:24 PM.
