I don't get why Days is down from last year with all these returns big ones as well like Ali and CM and ED. I been watching some of it again especially the scenes with Sami and Will and ED and i have to say pretty good to watch i enjoyed it. You can't tell me Dena's stuff this time last year was better surely so many fans wanted her out i just don't get why Days ratings are not better under RC he is a pretty good writer. I only hope Corday gives him time he had a hard job fixing Dena's mess and doesn't fire him after Christmas if things don't pick up big time like he did with previous Days writers in the past.

Quality will never fully reflect in the ratings. B&B has been a steaming pile of shit for months and airing the EXACT same scenes for weeks so such a huge jump this week doesn’t even make sense. There’s just no rhyme or reason here.

Bill blew up the Spectra building with Liam and Sally inside the Friday before. I expected a jump. ^o)

Some people also say B&B got an increase because of Y&R.

:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Y&R!!!
What I like on that show is how well MY structures episodes - it's like every episode has it's beginning and culmination+surprise - it isn't stale anymore - the storyline(s) move(s) ahead every episode, no filler scenes, no scenes that lead to nothing. Very good.

I'm sure it helped but B&B got the same increase with less viewers to build from. And the shows don't air back to back in all markets.

I can’t see the daily ratings but a big Monday wouldn’t be surprising. Everything was back to normal by mid-week.

Yep and Wed wasn't one of the biggest days of Y&R. Surely Y&R helped but B&B was in part independent

Ratings are down for television viewing overall, as more people watch online or thru streaming apps. That's not reflected in these ratings. For Days specifically, the time slot has changed in some markets, which will also have an effect - especially where its on against Y&R. So while they are down versus last year, all things considered, they are in actuality probably holding pretty steady.

DAYS - Millions of viewers from July to December.

I expected Ron's ratings to be better than Dena's by now but at the same time, the show was in worse shape than the previous years when Ron started, less than 2 million viewers. Overall, things are going in the right direction.

but that is a horrible storyline.

It is true that quality, especially changes in it, don't reflect in the ratings. It's just people, most people will always watch the soap they are watching, no matter what happens on it. Most people don't stop watching or start a new soap.

Overall direction is okay.

The show really lost almost a million viewers in six months in 2016? That is something.

Pretty much. Josh Griffith and Beth Milstein were awful.

Week of January 4-8, 2016: 2,914,000 viewers
Week of July 4-8, 2016: 2,045,000 viewers

To be fair Days had 2.8-2.9 million (and more) viewers only on special occasions (50th, some sweeps weeks, polar Vortex etc.), it's not that that's been their steady numbers in 2015 or 2014.

However, these numbers show that the show has a potential to attract up to 3 millions viewers in Fall/Winter if it is well written.

They got higher than that the following January. They even had a week where the average for the week was above 3 million, something that hadn't happened since 2010. It's possible to build the audience back up, but it takes time and it takes a steadier build.

Here you can see the average viewership in million for each season of the past 5 years of Days, with the year-to-year gain or loss. It's probably more fair to compare like this, with "steady" numbers than with "peak" numbers.

20132014201520162017
Winter2.55 (+0.07)2.77 (+0.22)2.44 (-0.33)2.56 (+0.12)2.29 (-0.27)
Spring2.48 (+0.12)2.40 (-0.08)2.27 (-0.13)2.19 (-0.08)2.07 (-0.12)
Summer2.48 (+0.04)2.41 (-0.07)2.37 (-0.04)2.15 (-0.22)2.07 (-0.08)
Fall2.60 (+0.21)2.45 (-0.15)2.60 (+0.15)2.24 (-0.36)2.16 (-0.08)*
