OK, Days is slowly but surely building viewers. Week to week they have done well for a while now, and I am hopeful that they can continue building. It will take a lot of time to climb, if they do.

The good news is this: The Bleeding Has Stopped. For this show to have a chance to continue, the bleeding had to stop. It's not drawing 2 million viewers, and it's not making a rapid ascent, but those types of rises will not happen anymore. All we can hope for in 2017 is a slow build. There is a cap on how many viewers Days can draw though.

GH: It's gained viewers week to week and year to year, and that's good for them. Once again, not a huge gain, but gains none the less.

CBS: OUCH!!! I am not surprised, especially by B&B.

Surprises can happen. I am very surprised with GH's solid demo numbers for weeks now.

I wish that we would be surprised. If Days could rocket up the ratings it would secure the show for an extra five to ten years. If the 90's surge had not happened, Days would be off the air right now.

Still, with the current state of things, it would be hard. We can hope!

Thank you for that!!

B&B and Days are battling because Days is no longer bleeding, and B&B is sucking dead air. Days can take them if the show can stay exciting.

I can't prove it statistically but visually it looks like there's a strong correlation between Y&R and B&B numbers.

There is. Aside from a few years ago when B&B surged on their own (and it seemed they surged big with young viewers then), those two always seem to correlate with each other.

I think Days' issue is with younger viewers. Their gains always tend to skew on the older end of all the demos. They are doing nothing to appeal to the younger side of the demo. It's not just about the younger characters and couples but the kind of stories they are in. The last time I recall Days making solid improvement in those demos was in late 2012-2013 when we had the Gabi/Nick/Will/Sonny drama going on.

I expected them to be a lot better than this if this the best with all the returns back then i dread to think what will happen when Ali leaves soon i was think Days would be at least over 2.5 million by now.

Well if the show hasn't gained a lot of viewers because of her return, it shouldn't lose a lot because of her exit.

It's actually lost at least one who won't start watching again until she's gone.

GH and Y&R are almost neck in neck in 2 demos. That seems dangerous for CBS.

Gradual increases for Days is good. That is more sustainable than a sudden large increase. The stories keep rolling along at a nice pace.

I just think GH is doing extremely well in the demos lately. CBS' audience is older - this can be said about primetime too.

Women 18-49 Viewers
1. Y&R 465,000
2. GH 450,000
3. B&B 373,000
4. DAYS 367,000

Women 25-54 Viewers
1. Y&R 807,000
2. GH 636,000
3. B&B 635,000
4. DAYS 494,000

It's pretty incredible when you compare those 2 demos, the difference is huge but it's almost the same age group!

That means that over 342,000 women in the ratings for Y&R were 50 to 54. These women grew out of the 18-49 demo recently and they will grow out of the 25-54 soon. It also makes you wonder how many of the 465,000 women in the 18-49 demo are very close to 50. As these women get older, they become less important for the advertisers but let's hope they still count enough.

What is concerning to me is Days low numbers in W18-34 because I noticed that when CBS soaps had a drop in W18-34, soon (in course of 6-12 months) a relatively big drop in W18-49 followed.

I think there's some truth to that. My hypothesis is that during the bad periods, the younger viewers (18-34) are the first ones to stop watching, the other categories (35-55) continue for a while and if the show doesn't get better, they stop watching as well. I also think that it takes more time to get these younger viewers back when the show gets better. However, Ron is making progress in this demo but the numbers were so low this summer.

It was actually Winter 2014 when w18-49 went up considerably (it was around Ejabby affair). But May sweeps and Fall 2013 were pretty good too. Besides Gabi/Nick/Will/Sonny drama we also had Kristen's return in 2013.

Hi thepadange!

Women 18-34 went down when Quigley took over in 2016.
They have gone up under Carlivati!

Hi, and thanks for the graph!
Oh, I wasn't exactly blaming RC for these numbers. But it's kind of unusual to see that Days are only -6,000 in W18-49 compared to B&B, but it's -27,000 in W18-34 compared to B&B. Apparently Days is more popular under women 35-49.
Several years ago (2013 in particular, there were periods Days was pretty strong in the demo). Weren't they even #1 or #2 sometimes in W18-34?
