Great week for GH, well-deserved! This proves that when the stories are good, soap viewers will tune-in. ABC executives must be really happy they didn't cancel it years ago and I hope they regret cancelling OLTL and AMC.

GH has never been as good as the last four months in my ten years as a viewer.

Congrats to GH and I’m expecting more good things. It’s not the CarSon show and they are giving other characters stories. Really liking the Charles St one that is starting to pick up. Good to see Molly/TJ. There’s also been a lot of history being brought up. Never thought we’d get a resolve of the election tampering. Hope they pick up more of the dropped stories. Still have to deal with Nelle, but when she’s not on 5 days a week it’s not as bad. Plus the Jason/Sam/Drew story is being well done. It’s not about the mob, but the characters. The scenes with Danny were heartwrenching on all sides.

Have to agree about General Hospital killing it in the ratings.

Jason Morgan is probably the character I've disliked the most in my 26 years as a GH viewer yet I've still been absolutely riveted and on the edge of my seat over the past six weeks or so. The way they've connected all the players in Port Charles to this one story line has been nothing short of genius.

I don't watch GH anymore but it's always good to see a soap that has been struggling get it together. Same for DAYS. I can only hope YR achieves the same level.

I find it funny that they say it’s a new high for Altman/Van Etten, I don’t remember Michelle A/Jean P ever having that many viewers.

They had better weeks in late 2015 and early 2016, when the weather was really bad. This is the first time GH hits 2.9 million since.

Week of 12/28/15: 3,375,000
Week of 01/04/16: 3,152,000
Week of 01/11/16: 3,015,000
Week of 01/18/16: 3,131,000
Week of 01/25/16: 3,060,000
Week of 02/01/16: 2,985,000

I have been tracking down the ratings for syndicated talk shows. Here are the household numbers so far this fall (compared to last fall).

Dr. Phil 3.42 (+0.04)
Ellen DeGeneres 2.35 (-0.06)
Live with Kelly 2.28 (-0.16)
Maury 1.44 (-0.12)
Wendy Williams 1.39 (-0.09)
Steve Harvey 1.37 (-0.27)
Rachael Ray 1.22 (-0.14)
Jerry Springer 1.17 (-0.10)
Steve Wilkos 1.16 (-0.17)
Dr. Oz 1.13 (-0.09)
Crime Watch Daily 0.95 (-0.03)
Harry 0.90 (-0.30)
The Real 0.81 (-0.04)
The Doctors 0.80 (-0.05)

Dr. Phil is the only syndicated talk show up from last fall in households. Everyone else is down, the biggest losers are Harry currently in its second season and Steve Harvey which had a revamp this fall.

Here are the household numbers for the soaps

Young & Restless 3.18 (-0.16)
Bold & Beautiful 2.57 (-0.16)
General Hospital 1.94 (-0.05)
Days of our Lives 1.62 (-0.07)

I stand corrected. I guess what stuck in my head was the steady decline, which these numbers show. I remember thinking that Jean could never maintain an audience. There’d be a gain and it would all be gone the following week. I don’t know if this will continue, but I think it’s great they and Days are showing gains, given the mild weather and the holiday season.

GH is in fact the worst it has been in years.

One of the best and most wisest decisions on that show ever was to get rid of Jason. And now, in stead of the golden age of 2013, there are two of them. That is pure 100 % regression. As long as that show wait on kicking out Benard, Wright, Burton and Monaco, that show will be unsalvageable.

The only one who works is Billy Miller, who is an an actual actor.
