Posted Image Days - Total viewers in thousands Posted Image Days - Total viewers and women 18-49 in thousands by headwriters I was waiting for the last numbers to post these. 2017 was a bad year for Days but it ended better than it started. |

I wonder how much influence in ratings increase Fall 2015 had the fact that they had the 50th anniversary and did a lot of promotion.

I'm a little bit disappointed by the demos for this particular week, Y&R is the only soap with a big increase. |

Not in the demos over the last year though. I think GH is the most improved soap this year (where the ratings are concerned). |

I hope Carlivati takes TomSell trend, not Griffley's LOL. Btw, I don't remember when was the last time I've seen Christopher Whitesell's name in GH's credits but I can't say I check them every day. Edited by thepadange, Jan 13 2018, 05:57 PM.

RE: Y&R last year's ratings. I remember Toups excluded the ratings for the repeat episode last year (the official ratings counted it). So that's probably why they are +50,000. I had the number 5,000,000+ for the last year.

Good catch! Y&R had 650,000 women 18-49 with the correction so it's down 142,000 in that demo from last year. |

I think a lot of regimes don't understand how important spring is. It's usually when viewers tune out but it's no reason to give up and save your good stories for later. It might be hard to make gains in those difficult months but it should be a priority to avoid big losses. It all adds up in the end. It's easier to have a good fall if the numbers before that were decent. |

I agree. Summer months are usually seen as a low key period too but, e.g. Y&R had extremely good numbers Summer 2015. It shows that anything is possible. |

I think there was a big misprint on this ratings report cause they don't match up at all in the year over year from the final week of 2016. SON must have had some miscalculation on the numbers for the week cause it doesn't add up if you look at what they were drawing back in Dec 26th to Dec 30th, 2016. Especially, Y&R and GH. Something must be really off. Y&R drew 5.0 million viewers one year ago so they should be down 200,000 instead of up 50,000. GH drew 2.8 million viewers one year ago so they should be down about 50,000 instead of up 200,000.

You have to go back to the article with the ratings from a year ago to understand: https://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2017/01/ratings-soaps-get-holiday-bump-total-viewers

I remember the mishap in the release of the "unofficial" numbers from last year to end Dec, but the viewership and demos for Y&R and GH were corrected eight hours later, so shouldn't the current year over year match up with the "official" numbers from Dec 26-30, 2016? I am sorry...I still don't get that part. Edited by Vince79, Jan 14 2018, 03:53 AM.

Week of December 26, 2016 - Unofficial numbers (Toups) Y&R: 5,090,000 total viewers / 650,000 women 18-49 / 166,000 women 18-34 / 966,000 women 25-54 GH: 2,818,000 total viewers / 455,000 women 18-49 / 102,000 women 18-34 / 666,000 women 25-54 Week of December 26, 2016 - Official numbers (Nielsen) Y&R: 4,750,000 total viewers / 595,000 women 18-49 / 154,000 women 18-34 / 887,000 women 25-54 GH: 2,535,000 total viewers / 402,000 women 18-49 / 94,000 women 18-34 / 589,000 women 25-54 The networks have to announce to Nielsen in advance if they want to mark an episode as special and exclude it from the weekly average. If they don't, Nielsen counts them. Maybe Toups should have used his numbers for his year-to-year comparison but he used the official numbers. |

The corrected 2016 numbers were unofficial (the first numbers were official). Technically Toups shouldn't have corrected them in 2016 IMO thus making them unofficial From my understanding it probably wasn't an error Nielsen made, the shows probably had an unplanned pre-emption that they opted not to count that year and GH and Y&R weren't allowed to ask not count the repeat. If this had been a mistake on Nielsens part I think it would have been corrected. Edited by thepadange, Jan 14 2018, 07:15 PM.

Finally Days hits that 2.5M number. I think the following week's ratings have a chance of going even higher with the bad weather, Vivian and TC's arrival, and the shortened week (shortened week's just seem to do better). |
