Posted Image W25-54 ratings: 2016 Posted Image W25-54 ratings: 2017 + 1st week of 2018 I don't look at that demo very often but it's a nice middle ground (less stable than the household numbers and less volatile that the W18-49 ratings). Edited by Hugo, Jan 19 2018, 08:06 AM.

It looks like W25-54 are the most important demo for daytime shows. (I know it was W18-49 for a long time). I am not 100% sure though. Even in this demo the gaps are shrinking between the 4 soaps. Edited by thepadange, Jan 19 2018, 10:28 AM.

Not good. This should have been a great week, with a 100K+ increase due to the bad weather. Not that the overall number is terrible, but still. Should have been better. |

DAYS Monday: Tuesday: 1.81/2,565,000 Wednesday: 1.82/2,547,000 Thursday: 1.65/2,303,000 Friday: 1.74/2,453,000 Thursday killed them. Were they interrupted? Thursday was their lowest day by far, but the other 3 soaps had their best numbers on Thursday. That is very strange. Edited by Mitchapalooza, Jan 19 2018, 11:51 AM.

The weather was bad in spots for the next week too so hopefully we see more increases in the next set of numbers. All the soaps should be seeing better than this right now and they aren't. I do think the Christmas and New Years being on Mondays hurt but I also think it is clear the soaps just didn't do enough this year to hook people while they were home, which is a major issue because that is often what leads to big increases and rising numbers going forward. This doesn't bode well for the spring and summer months. |

Google says this happened: 'Bomb Cyclone' hits US Northeast prompting flooding and snow in New York subway system [twitter=jillianbowe/status/948982965752786944] Weird that it hurt Days but not the others. Edited by Hugo, Jan 19 2018, 12:13 PM.

B&B had the biggest increase because there was a big reveal / blow up: Spoiler: click to toggle

Right. They did something big. No other soaps really did. Usually during Christmas week you get a good number no matter what but if you do something big you get a really good number especially for a well built story. New Years week is a bit different as people may not be home from work the entire week but if weather comes into play and you do something big you can get a good number too. The soaps failed this year IMO. |

I kind of think Days tried with Vivian's return and Stefan showing up. |

Eh. That worked for one episode. I mean, that was fine but they needed more than that especially to be able to carry a good number for the whole week. |

It was kind of a try. But a return is not as big of a deal as a payoff. Apparently B&B went with a payoff. Days didn't have a payoff to deliver. Their payoffs (Safe Sex, Elani baby) are down the line, hopefully. The longer the better, IMO. |

I think the NBC stations are more likely to interrupt it's regular programming. Plus, DAYS airs at noon in NYC. That's the largest ratings market. Regular viewing may have been interrupted, especially to compete with the actual news on other channels and in some instances viewers watching other channels before Days started may have stayed with those channels for weather info. Regardless, those other uninterrupted days have a nice average. It seems the Tuesday and Wednesday episodes were the highest for those days all year and the Friday episode was descent, possibly hindered by the low Thursday. |
