I agree about Ashley Nana. Her character has been a lot better since I started watching again.

Ashley has some of Kristen's spunk and dominance, but without Kristen's evil.

Honestly, I can see why everyone on the list got pre-nominated. It's not hard to come up with a halfway decent reel and with so few soaps and no soap having a dominant year and acting being very subjective (what many of us find bad, others find decent enough or good).

As far as Days goes, it does stun me to see Susan Hayes on the list but she did have David's death and is known in the industry so I can see it. Galen isn't good but every once in awhile he has a scene that I find decent and I actually thought he did a decent job with the Rope breakup scenes back in early December. Assuming he submitted that, I can see why he a pre nomination.

I am rather surprised that Bryan Dattilo did not get a pre-nomination. Same with Christopher Sean and Freddie Smith. Not that Freddie deserved one but he had the material. As did Christopher Sean. Dattilo wasn't always good and sometimes did overdo it but he also had some fine work worthy of a nod too. I also disappointed not to see Sal Stowers, who did great work during the Theo stuff, and Lauren Koslow, who had some good scenes too regardless of the story she is in.

I actually like some of the category placements. Marci belonged in lead and went lead. AZ should've been there too. Judi should be supporting (which may cost her because lead looks like the most competitive category to break into) but I understand why MBE and SN went lead. The soaps and actors always worry less about who belongs where and more about the best chances to score wins. You can see that in some of these placements but I think they actually work this year for the most part.

Chandler Massey will like get nominated and, if he does, he is winning. Easily. Same with Eileen Davidson. I am not sure if she will get nominated twice but I tend to think she will get nominated for Days in supporting before she gets in lead (which is just a tough category). She deserved the nod for Y&R too but I can just see it going that way and, if she does get nominated in supporting (which I think will happen) she is winning IMO. Camryn Grimes is the only competition I can see for her, which is ironic. Casey Moss IMO will definitely win if he scores a nod in younger actor (which should be a lock but I thought he was lock a few years ago and he got overlooked so who knows).

It's so interesting that in some categories Days is almost guaranteed to have a nominee like lead actor (where they have 5 of 10 of the pre-nominees). To me, I can see Days doing well in the younger categories and in lead and supporting actor. I think they may get one in lead actress but supporting actress I can see them maybe getting two (ED and AZ).

AZ has some good reels, as does EM. GV does too but his work always seems to go unnoticed so doubt he will get in although there is less competition this year. JR does too. When you look at these, it always helps to remember who has been nominated before because if someone has been and they have a decent enough reel, it's almost certain they will get nominated. Based on that and the potential reels and the way this seems to be playing out, these are my nominee predictions.

So. Much. Category. Fraud.

Now that I've got that out of my system...

Based solely on material (mind you I've blocked out most of the first half of 2017), I'd say that Days' best bets are:

*Judi Evans for Lead Actress
*James Reynolds for Lead Actor
*Ari Zucker and Eileen Davidson for Supporting Actress
*Chandler Massey and Greg Vaughan for Supporting Actor
*Olivia Rose Keegan for Younger Actress
*Casey Moss for Younger Actor

Other thoughts:

*Judi Evans, even if she is in the wrong category, MUST be nominated.
*I will never complain if Stephen Nichols', easily Days' best actor, got a nomination, whether he had the material or not.
*It'd be AWESOME if Susan Hayes got a nomination the year of her 50th Days anniversary.
*Victoria Konefal could sneak in a nomination even with such limited material. I think she's that good and is a lock next year.
*I liked Paige Searcy but she was on for like 2 seconds last January. I think she had good material, but still.
*Lucas Adams being nominated wouldn't surprise me. He had good material and is a natural actor.

I am happy that Days had the most pre-noms out of all of the shows. Might bode well for the actual nominations!

I am rather curious to see if Chandler's "Emmy darling" status diminished at all due to his time away from the genre.

LMAO at Galen Gering and Marci Miller being on that list.
The real crime is Bryan D. being snubbed.
I disagree. Drunk Lucas was embarrassing to watch and sober Lucas is a snooze.

Doubt it. He reminds me alot of Jonathan Jackson and the way he was treated. I know he never won 3 consecutive Emmy's (more competition) but he was nominated in younger actor every year, won a few times, and then left. He came back and was then in supporting and won again. As long as he had the material for them to justify it, he was represented so I expect the same for Chandler now.

Yeah, I didn't really enjoy Bryan's performances this fall either. :-/ They felt overwrought.

How is Bryan Dattilo not even pre-nominated? This is a joke! Looking at some of these pre-noms... SMH.

I'll say this while drinking my glass of milk: Billy Flynn and Marci Miller's pre-noms are hilarious.

Some of these must be a joke lol.
Was last year when SSH had that really horribly over-acted "OMG SCOTTY" phone call?

Hopefully they leave that off the reel ...

There is no such thing as a 'General Lead'. The amount of time doesn't matter.

My very personal, very Days-centric, very unsolicited full reactions ...

Judi Evans, Mary Beth Evans, Stephen Nichols, James Reynolds - I would have thought they'd be in Supporting, but then with the guarantees on this show being as they are maybe the distinction is useless
Eric Martsolf - Generally not big enough on him to wish him an Emmy nom, but I would've been more into it if he submitted for Supporting
Marci Miller, Galen Gering, Billy Flynn, Arianne Zucker - Please no. Not only do not think they earned it, noms for these folks would most symbolize rewarding Days for mediocrity, IMO.
Nadia Bjorlin, Susan Hayes - The material isn't there, but they were generally likable when they were on.
Chandler Massey, as Will Horton - I don't think the material was there either but part of me like Days having an Emmy Darling (or do I?)
Olivia Rose Keegan, as Claire Brady - She looked better next to Vivian Jovanni, but it doesn't not make sense
Paige Searcy - Maybe? Would have been more fitting last year
Eileen Davidson, Greg Vaughan - Sure
Victoria Konefal, Lucas Adams - Regardless of the material, I dig them and think they're legit.
James Lastovic, as Joey Johnson - I mean.
Casey Moss, as JJ Deveraux - Of course.

I am sure this has been covered before in conversations from past years, but where is Dee?
