What happened that week to all soaps? All went up no drops that is very rare. |

The soaps recovered from the week before, when they were badly hit by preemptions (the school shooting in Florida). |

Thanks for all the graphs. I wonder if the January bump for Y&R will be the last time we see a soap above 500K women 18-49. |

LOL. I guess it depends if Y&R will be able to write a really huge story. I wonder how their 45th will do with all these returns. Edited by thepadange, Mar 10 2018, 12:55 AM.

The thing is that time of the year is usually not favorable for good ratings but you never know. That being said, CBS soaps usually have a Thursday/Friday preemption in March for basketball so they might get good numbers with that short week. |

It's the next week, they are pre-empted March 15th and 16th. |

Posted Image Total viewers (orange+yellow) and women 18-49 (yellow) in thousands Big changes in 1 year: Days gained 160K viewers but none in the women 18-49 demo. Y&R and B&B lost 120K viewers, almost all in the women 18-49 demo. Edited by Hugo, Mar 10 2018, 08:50 AM.

IMO these trends show that all soaps will end about the same time, if the demos are still what matters to advertisers. Y&R could survive other soaps 1year but not more. I hope it won't happen anytime soon though because soaps aren't loosing more viewers than other genres. Edited by thepadange, Mar 10 2018, 09:31 AM.

I think they will still be there in 2020. Y&R is already guaranteed, Days needs 1 more renewal. GH looks solid. A little doubt about B&B, it hasn't been renewed for next season yet, but Bell said once it would continue as a webseries if it was canceled by CBS, I think it's still very popular around the world. |

I can't wait for the next set of ratings to see if the current trends i.e. Days gaining in the W18-34 demo and CBS soaps loosing viewers was just a trend during the Olympics or something of more importance.

If Days can turn itself around (and it has!) so can the others! And I think Days itself can rise higher. Carlivati has radically improved it in my view, but on the other hand I think there is still plenty of opportunity for further improvements (and building on his successes so far). I'm very hopeful about the future, and I'm enjoying the show! |

Next 10 to 15 years I think (hopefully not) all the US soap operas will be all gone on daytime TV. |
