Posted Image Total viewers in thousands during sweeps Sweeps are the periods of the year when Nielsen collects date from diary surveys. More info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nielsen_ratings#Sweeps Good results for Days during February sweeps, it was up in viewers from November and from 1 year ago. The other soaps were all down. |

It's great that you've collated the sweeps info. It's much more pertinent than averaging over a period, which does not distinguish whether a show is going up or down. (0 to 60mph, and 60 to 0mph over the same distance will have the same average speed, although what is happening is *completely* different!). It occurs to me this is one reason why sweeps could still be important. |

CBS soaps look week. I wonder if it's temporary or a really dangerous trend. I was a big fan of Mal Young's writing when he started but right now I think the show's stories have gotten weaker. He better fix it soon lol. Ron seems to be a good fit for Days. Edited by thepadange, Mar 17 2018, 05:04 AM.

I think the potential is there for Y&R. The Chelsea exit was sort of WTF but I enjoyed it. Since then, there hasn't been much action. I'm looking forward to a possible Shick reunion but don't want them going so fast. I think the show could use some new pairings. I know you wouldn't like this idea (lol), but I think Billy and Lily could be a good pairing, plus the angst with Cane as they are already rivals. |

Hahaha. Who knows. Sometimes I like the same characters in different pairings. Eg. I like GH's Valentin with both Nina and Anna, can't decide which pairing is better. I also liked Ava with Morgan and like her with Griffin lol. I am not sure Billy and Lily could be more than a fling though because the show seems to be 100% committed to Lane. They need younger pairings IMO. Re: Shick. Definitely too fast. I don't see a storyline. I think it's a big problem. They aren't writing love stories anymore, they just put people together and say 'sparks fly' and that's it. I don't remember when was last time they wrote angst, longing etc. I think it was Philly during Pratt that I last enjoyed a love story on Y&R. SSM tried somewhat with Teriah but it was dropped like a hot potato and then nothing. The same can be said about most (if not all) soaps. Edited by thepadange, Mar 18 2018, 04:52 AM.

Yeah, unfortunately this show is attached to Lane. It had ruined so many years IMO. They should have never re-hired DG but they caved to a segment of the audience. This is an example of when listening to fans does harm to a show. Hopefully they are planning more obstacles for Shick. I agree I want to see some younger pairings.
