I am glad the costume department was snubbed, especially since they allow many of the cast to influence how their characters are dressed (usually a detriment)....I mean why even have a costume department?

DESERVED snub!
I wish the hairstyling department had been snubbed too!
While we are at it, I'm not sure why Days deserves a nominations for Outstanding Art Direction/Set Direction/Scenic Design and Outstanding Lighting Direction.

Just an early impression after looking through the list and recalling what each actor could submit;

GH has the strongest case to walk away with the most acting awards. I could see them winning in four of the seven acting categories like they did in 2015 with Geary, West, Duell and Donna Mills. Marci Miller is truly a David going up against four Goliaths in lead actress. This would be the ultimate in upsets and one hell of a underdog bet if Vegas ran the odds. I have never seen a newcomer to soaps face off against four powerhouses like this right off the bat. Much like it was the case last year, the lead actress category is the most fascinating one. With all due respect, the lead actor category is the least interesting.

I watch General Hospital and Days of Our Lives and I'm just wondering what in the hell were these people nominated for. Wally Kurth -- rooting for you -- but what in the hell could he have possibly submitted for General Hospital? Anthony Montgomery -- black man, yeah! -- but what did he submit? Michael Easton -- he just grunts his way through scenes. They give nominations for that now? Billy Miller -- I don't recall him doing much. Granted, I'm as in and out with General Hospital as I am with Days of Our Lives and most of the things I see on General Hospital I forget almost immediately.

This all four shows getting nominated for show, writing, and directing needs to stop. I'm sure all four shows don't deserve that. They need to put a limit on it. Cut it to two or something.

Oh, and please, do not let Chandler Massey win. That would be great.

Wally actually had a lot on GH last year for someone who is recurring. He probably submitted scenes from when Ned's father came back and/or Tracy was leaving town, or when Ned was trying to get Olivia to marry him, or when Julian was trying to see Leo at the end of the year - he and LLC had some emotional scenes for that, which is what she said she submitted from. I'm not sure about Anthony Montgomery, but he had a lot to do with the Drew/Jason reveal. Billy Miller has to have had some of the most screen time of anyone, and he and Sam had one drama after the other last year. I saw some speculate he maybe submitted from when Sam had their baby after falling off the bridge. Plus the whole drama of finding out he's not Jason. It will be interesting to find out what's in their reels.

^ My face watching DAYS

Supporting Actor will be a good category to watch for DAYS fans because 4 of the 5 nominees will be airing on the show when the awards air.

I watched all the younger actress reels. Anyone else?

I'm not sure how I'd rank them.

Reign Edwards - The reel was fine, but Karla outshines her. I can't think of his name, but I feel like I've seen that people love the man who plays her father (maybe I'm remembering wrong), but I just don't. He kind of takes me out of the scenes for some reason. Also, the scenes themselves aren't bad, but they have an odd feel that I can't quite pinpoint.

Haley Erin - So I literally know nothing about her character. Is she something medical? That seemed to be a thing, but the weird thing about it was that when she discussed medical stuff it literally looked and sounded like she was reading a cue card. The scenes with MB were a little better but mostly because I don't enjoy him, and she seemed better than him. That seemed like a really weird conversation to be having with Sonny, but what do I know? A couple of her choices didn't feel like scenes for her reel, but for someone else's.

Cait Fairbanks - What a great reel...for Camryn Grimes. Seriously, wtf? I didn't enjoy CF at all. I knew nothing about her, but had heard a little about this story. Would I have liked her better with context?

Olivia Rose Keegan - So first of all, that dialogue at the beginning fully out of context was absolutely ridiculous. It was probably ridiculous in context, too, but it really stood out when out of context. Second of all, her reel is backwards and it's hella distracting. I'm going to have to go back and see what I thought of these scenes when they aired but I think I might have been distracted by how awful Claire was. She'd make a good actual villain if they could stop writing this childish stuff for her. It wasn't a bad reel. The weakest part was the final scene with KA. The strongest part was her dragging Jade. I had managed to forget how bad GH was.

Chloe Lanier - I just...I don't like her. I hated her reel last year. This one was better than last year, but I just don't enjoy her at all.

I thought these reels were pretty weak.

Reign Edwards- She's a good actress, though her reel didn't blow me away. I think her one from last year may have been better. I definitely think she might win though because she's probably the best actress of the bunch (her or Chloe Lanier IMO).

Hayley Erin...I just felt nothing watching her scenes. I didn't like this reel. She seems like an okay actress, but definitely not what I think of when it comes to being a young lead.

Cait Fairbanks- I was dreading watching her reel because I can't stand her character (Tessa). She went ahead and submitted a reel for Camryn, who always outshines her.

Olivia- I like ORK, but this reel wasn't good. The first few scenes are particularly rough IMO and had some bad acting from her. I don't think she has learned to play high drama stuff well yet. I thought she was better in the scenes that recently played on the show involving the Rope wedding fiasco (of course she can't submit that until next year).

Chloe Lanier- The reel didn't blow me away....but I think she's a good actress. That goes a long way for me in this category, where the nominees aren't that strong.

I'd give the award to Reign Edwards or Chloe Lanier.

Predictions:

James Reynolds
Eileen Davidson
Chandler Massey (though I wish it was Greg)
Marla Adams
Casey Moss
Reign Edwards

The reason why I am predicting Eileen is I can see DAYS adding their count with Y&R and putting her over the edge. Marci would just have DAYS, and the GH cast would be split 3 ways.

Just a FYI, the final vote has already been done. The last time they vote is among the 10 pre-nominees. They just announce the top 5 as the final nominees. You never know how the vote is the divided, but the fact that there are 3 GHers in the top 5 makes Eileen and Marci's chances look pretty good. Maybe you knew that already, I'm just not sure how much of Days would have gone to Eileen given they also had Judi and MBE to vote for.

There's also a chance that Days people (or soap people) didn't even vote for some of the acting categories in this round.
