I watched all the submissions for supporting actress and i have to admit, as much as it pains me, that Y&R is just a well ran soap with excellent directing. From the wardrobe, to the sets, to the way the actresses are obviously directed........it shows why it's still number 1. I'll always love Days more, and to be honest, I haven't watched a full episode of Y&R in about 10 years.

Of course, a decent budget goes a long way. That doesn't account for their very strong Emmy reels though. Still, they are not a default winners, because as Mitch said above, they could split the vote.

No one loves Sue Hayes more than I do! Look at my banner, LOL! Sadly, the reel was a mess. Just like every other reel Days has put together. She does not have a chance barring a miracle. The good news is she will walk away with the lifetime achievement award!

I think Elizabeth Hendrickson should win.

Wow, Supporting Actress is tough. All the Y&R actresses submitted good reels. Elizabeth Hendrickson has been one of my favorite actresses for a while and personally she was my favorite here. I thought she was sort of robbed a few years ago in this category (when she submitted the scenes where her character found out her daughter had died), so I hope she wins this one. I thought she showed the most range in her reel.

Mishael Morgan was excellent too and I wouldn't be surprised if she won. Kristoff put in some good work in her reel but I don't think it took away from her performance. That ending scene was a smart choice.

I really enjoyed Marla's reel but don't think her acting is as good as EH and MM. She seems to have a lot of support though. Camryn was good too but I was expecting a little more.

I enjoy JMW and this was a pretty good reel. The only problem for me is that she is basically crying about sleeping with Bill throughout the whole thing and that's it.

Susan's was so short and the first scene wasn't good IMO. The rest fine and she submitted true supporting scenes. She must have gotten votes out of respect for her status in daytime because this doesn't seem like a nominee's reel.

Cait Fairbanks - What a great reel...for Camryn Grimes. Seriously, wtf? I didn't enjoy CF at all. I knew nothing about her, but had heard a little about this story. Would I have liked her better with context?

Nope. CF is pretty weak actress. Tessa is a boring and useless character. CG outshines her and it is CG who is carrying the Teriah pairing.

I'm rooting for Camryn. Though, I liked MM's reel. She did such a great job the day Devon was in the accident.

If it is based on the reel...MM deserves the win.

I just watched all of four (Massey, Rikaart, Kurth, and Vaughn), and most of Montgomery's.

Finally, the top two reels go to Days, IMO. Massey was good as Will, and he is an industry darling, but Vaughn had the best reel.

If Greg Vaughn doesn't win, it would be flat out unjust.

Agree that massey and vaughn had best reels:

Ranks:
1.) Greg Vaughn (DAYS)
2.) Chandler Massey (DAYS)
3.) Anthony Montgomery (GH)
4.) Greg Rikaart (Y&R)
5.) Wally Kurth (GH)

Just watched Greg's reel.

Overall, it's very good, and he picked some of the scenes I immediately thought of when he got the nom. The episode cuts are a bit abrupt, and it kind of makes me chuckle that his reel ends on a cliffhanger. The ending segment also reminded me how very stage/theater Eric Martsolf's acting style tends to be. In fact, his sneering straight up reminded me of the pharaoh in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, lol.

I'm going to go back to supporting actress next, but I just finished supporting actor.

Greg Vaughn - I mean, we all know where I stand with him. I thought the reel was really good. A little choppy in parts, but good choices overall with some range. I'll never understand why Days doesn't use him more.

Chandler Massey - His reel was fine. Good even. It was not representative of his best work at all. I love that scene with him and Marlena, but it's not particularly amazing work. Same with the Paul scene. He shows range, though.

Anthony Montgomery - The final scene on his reel was fantastic. I didn't care for the first stuff. It wasn't bad or anything, though.

Greg Rikaart - This was only okay. I really don't like the second scene at all.

Wally Kurth - I feel like lack of experience with his character and history hurts his reel a bit. I think the stuff with Jane Elliott was probably the best, but not really having the full context kept it from really hitting home for me. The other stuff was all fine, but didn't seem like Emmy reel stuff.

I think I'd rank them Greg V, Anthony, Chandler, Wally, Greg R.

Supporting Actress

Camryn Grimes - I thought her reel was great. Probably could have used more variety, but it was really good without it.

Elizabeth Hendrickson - I didn't really like the first half, but the final scene was really good.

Jacqueline MacInnes Wood - I knew going into hers I wouldn't like it, and I don't even know where that bias came from. I don't think I even knew her name, lol. It wasn't particularly bad, but it was all the same thing. I didn't care for it.

Marla Adams - This was fine I guess, but not particularly noteworthy. It made me interested in the story, though. (So did EH's actually)

Mishael Morgan - Hers was really good, and I think showed some range.

Susan Seaforth Hayes - It was....not good. It wasn't good when it aired either.

I thought Camryn, Elizabeth, and Mishael were all really good. Camryn was probably my favorite. It'll be interesting to see who wins here with Y&R having 4 nominees. As I said previously, it could turn out that that really doesn't affect them negatively like it would have in the past, so we'll see.

OMG.....yeah I see that with EM. His style is reminiscent of a stage actor, and I never could put my finger on it till I read your post. At times, it works in his favor (it won him an Emmy). However, at other times it is annoying as hell.
