Thanks Restless. :)

I wonder when the Lead Actor's Reels are up.
Probably tomorrow or later in the week.
Thanks! :)

I'm curious to see what Michael Easton submitted.

Well...Marci pretty much submitted the best scenes she possibly could with that reel.
I was pleasantly surprised by the reel. Marci had a decent reel. It wasn't the best reel submitted, but it was OK.

I think it comes down to Eileen or Maura West. I haven't finished Maura's reel yet, but it's damn good. Eileen had some very powerful scenes though. After I finish watching, I'll give my final two cents, but I think it will be one of the two.

I haven't watched all the Lead Actress reels yet, but I love the scenes Marci selected. That scene with Jennifer was one of my favorites and that last scene with Dario I forgot about but was really good. The only problem is like all of the other Days reels, the scenes are not in order though this one isn't as confusing to me. Anyways as an Abby fan I enjoyed it because the whole thing really illustrated Abby's POV.

I want to watch the Supporting Actor reels but the 19 minute one from Chandler along with having to watch AZ is making me procrastinate on them, LOL.

Well. I didn't like any of those reels.

Laura Wright - I don't remember how many scenes there were, but all of them felt exactly the same. It stood out because they all had very different contexts, but she literally played all of it exactly the same. And I know she can do something different, because she does something different in Maura West's reel. I wouldn't say any of it was bad per se, but I didn't enjoy any of it.

Maura West - I LOATHED this reel. LOATHED. It felt ridiculously OTT to me. She did have some variety in the reel at least (none of the others can really say that), but I hated all of it. I've liked her reels in the past, so I'm not sure what made the difference here. Though, Maurice Bernard was AWFUL in those first scenes, and Laura Wright wasn't too good either.

Nancy Lee Grahn - This was fine I guess. I usually like her when I check in on GH. I'm not a huge fan of exposition in general, though in that context I guess it worked. But meh. She certainly wasn't bad, but again, I didn't enjoy it and nothing really stood out about it.

Eileen Davidson - I'm not sure what to think here. Similar to Laura Wright, it all kind of felt the same, but it was much stronger. She was good, and I was pulled into her stuff more than I was anyone from GH. TBH, I was a little surprised. I felt like she was a lot like Kristen, and I'm pretty sure Ashley isn't anything like Kristen. I was expecting the performances to feel less familiar than they did.

Marci Miller - The first scene in her reel was probably the strongest single scene in any of these reels. The second one...well...Billy is so bad, he might have won it for her. I actually probably would have liked her a lot in the second one if I weren't so familiar with her Days' work. She has a lot of tics that drive me up the wall, and they're on full display here, but a non viewer wouldn't know that, and I found it significantly less annoying out of context. I hated the wedding stuff when it aired, and hated it here...and it doesn't play well out of context at all. I don't remember any of my thoughts on the final scene, lol. I had heard some things about her reel in the first round and was expecting it to be a good bit different. She either made some big changes or someone was high.

I think I'd say Eileen, Nancy, Marci, Laura, Maura. If Marci had left out the wedding stuff, I'd put her before Nancy. I hope in the future all of them consider mixing it up a little bit. Also GH seems like a miserable show lol.

The rest of the reels:

Eileen Davidson: This was really good! The first scene with Peter Bergmann is powerful and it doesn't get much better than those two together in scenes. I also loved her scene with Beth Maitland (Traci). OT, Beth doesn't get much, but I think she has enough to submit in Supporting and I would like to see her do so next year. They are really giving a lot to Eileen on Y&R now and she's killing it.

Laura Wright: I didn't really enjoy this. A lot of it just seemed like her yelling and chewing up the screen. I didn't feel anything until the end when she was talking about Morgan with Jason. Really surprised this made the top 5 over Sharon Case, MCE, and even Judi (who I think submitted in the wrong category but had good material).

Maura West: She has always been too OTT for me. The first 8-9 minutes demonstrated that. Also those seemed more like a scenes for LW and MB than Maura. The second half is much better IMO. My favorite scene was her opposite Kin (Scotty) in the hospital. I think the hospital scenes in general were her best work here and I wish she had submitted that scene when Spencer visited her (I don't watch GH regularly but I saw that and it was touching). She seems to be the favorite, but I think Eileen and Marci were better.

Nancy Lee Grahn: Her performances were good, I just didn't get a wow moment from this reel. I liked some of the dialogue especially at the beginning in regards to the advice she had given her daughters versus what she has done. The scenes she had the end with Julian were good too. Overall I had a hard time feeling anything from the reel though.

My rankings:
1. Eileen Davidson and Marci Miller (tie)
3. Nancy Lee Grahn
4. Maura West
5. Laura Wright

Maybe a slight edge to Eileen because she is undoubtedly more skilled having worked in daytime since the 80's, but I enjoyed both reels about the same.

IDK how it's been in years past, but a couple of the categories are in alphabetical order on youtube and a couple aren't. I think more aren't than are. Do you think there's any chance they've accidentally tipped off who won?

This category is hard, because it is fairly even.

Out of the GH Actresses, I'd rank it like this:

1) Nancy
2) Maura
3) Laura

I have a soft spot for Maura because I watched her awesome work on ATWT, and she is still a great actress. However, Nancy had the best reel. I have always found Laura to be over-rated, and her reel, IMO, is the weakest from GH. Never the less, I expect GH to split the vote. It doesn't matter, because none of them had the strongest reel.

That leaves Eileen and Marci, the two strongest reels.

I am surprised by Marci's reel. It was the most strategic of any reel in any category. Her first two scenes were great, and the first one could have won her the Emmy. The reel had range, and she has a chance come Emmy night.

The strongest reel over all was Eileen's though. Marci's first scene was the best moment of any best actress reel, but Eileen's had more substance. I think she will win come Emmy night.

I am so surprised by Marci's reel.

I hope to God not, but you may have a point.

Laura Wright does not deserve to win.

If that's the case, Chandler, Camryn, and Casey also won.

Wait. Okay, so younger actress is alphabetical by last name. Younger actor and supporting actress are alphabetical by first name. I can't find a rhyme or reason for supporting actor or lead actress.

If Scott Clifton can win, Marci is a shoe in. Give it to her now!

I think Marci has a better than average chance of winning considering that there are three GHers in the running who could have split the vote. But more so than other categories, I think the old "how long you've been in the soap game/name recognition" thing still plays a significant role in who wins the lead categories. Scott Clifton was around for 14 years before his win for Lead Actor.

Yep and he’d won a few other Emmys before then.

Also, Scott was a surprise win last year but he had one of the better reels, I just assumed he would not win because he was up against soap vets. As for Marci, I liked only two scenes from the reel - the scene with Jennifer and then the one with Dario. I still think the Ben stuff was really weird. The others, including Nancy, Eileen and Maura have stronger reels. Maura’s is the longest but hers pieces together an overall story way better than the others. I’m rooting for all three.

I think Marci's first scene with Missy is excellent, and a good choice to lead off with. The wedding scene fell flat for me out of context, though. The vow renewal scene just reminded me how effing stupid the Chad/Gabi baseball love was. I wouldn't be too surprised if Marci or Eileen wins, since GH had three nominees. I agree Maura is OTT in some of her reel, but am still rooting for her just because of her overall body of work throughout the year. I also wouldn't be mad if Nancy won. This is a tough category.

Laura Wright has pretty much the same facial expression throughout her reel. She is yelling at Sonny and Joss, who she is mad at, but more yelling-as-talking with Jason, who she is not mad at, but it all kind of sounded the same. There was at least some variation in emotion and tone with the Jason scenes toward the end.

SSH's first scene is so OTT and it's not helped by everyone else in the scene's vacant stares and minimal reaction. Did she not have any other good scenes surrounding David's death to include?

I do think Greg Vaughan had the best reel in his category and deserves to win. I will be disappointed if Chandler wins, just because I think it would be based more on reputation and not on his work being the best of the nominees. I think with CM, it might end up being the same case as Jonathan Jackson, who I love - JJ had won 3 Emmys before he left GH in 1999. When he returned at the end of 2009 (ironically, kicking Greg Vaughan out of his role as Lucky in the process), he was nominated for an Emmy after only a few months of work. He did not win that year, but then went on to win the next 2 years. It just seemed that the nomination his first year back was almost a given just because of his reputation. Not to say CM didn't deserve the nom, but I hope it goes the same way it did for JJ.

Scott Clifton is one of the best actors in daytime. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins next year again with the material he already has. I think Marci’s reel was better than everyone’s except Eileen’s. I just don’t get the hype about Maura West or even NLG. I was expecting to be blown away.

Looking forward to watching Peter Bergmann and interested to see Billy Miller. I adored him on Y&R but he doesn’t seem to show his best work on GH. Why did McCook submit in Lead?

Okay, I understand. Nevertheless, I still believe that longevity plays a part in who wins Lead.

I disagree, I think he is subpar.
