Yep.... Just what this show needed when the ratings are starting to fall....a rapemance. I have always thought that the 6 month lag time will be the death of this show.......There is no way to change course now. |

Those ratings are super unpredictable week to week, I don't know what to think. Looking at the graph, I think it's possible Ron just had a down week while Dena had an up week at the same time last year. The opposite could happen the next week and all the sudden Days is up 200,000 viewers year-to-year again. It's also possible that the ratings will continue to go down. It would suck to see all the gains since last summer erased but maybe it will force TPTB to make some changes and rethink some of their plans. |

I think we tend to overestimate the importance of the lag. Other soaps tape 6 or less weeks in advance, it doesn't help their ratings much though. |

The other shows can do the much-needed changes in time though compared to days. |

Theoretically yes. In practice it seems it doesn't help or they don't know what changes to make lol. |

Does anything they change head writer again or they will stick with Ron this time and give him a proper run? If ratings go even lower usually they change the writers again i think if they go under 2 million viewers or 2.1 i always noticed that with Days in all the years i been watching. |

The headwriters seem to have yearly contracts because the last 3 changes happened around the same time (February 2015, February 2016, January 2017). I think I have read somewhere that the headwriters get paid until the end of their yearly contract even if they get fired sooner. So if that's true, it would be a big waste of money for Days to fire Ron now, since he's probably under contract until early 2019. Besides, I imagine that when the show was renewed a few weeks ago, Corday, NBC and Sony were happy with Ron's recent ratings and liked his ideas for the 2018-2019 season. I don't see these people change their minds for a while so I bet Ron is safe for the rest of the year. Of course, I could be wrong, I'm just a fan and I don't have sources in the industry. |

These ratings are bad but up over last year. Last week was the first week of the year that was under last year. It’s way too early to fire anyone. |

It's not time to fire anyone, I completely agree. What happens IF Ron were to exit? I'd bet we would get someone a lot worse. I don't want him gone, not at all. I want him to apply himself, but overall I don't think he's the worst we could do. Anyway, he's not going anywhere. Not anytime soon. |

Which is typical. Days always drops off in March and April. Sometimes it rebounds in May and June but, for the most part, it's going to be rough going until September. Soaps and TV, in general, tend to struggle from March on. I honestly think it doesn't make much difference what is put on the air. It may give you a bump here and there if you do some big stuff but those are fleeting. If Days can manage to any of what it has gained and avoid new lows, that would be an accomplishment. |

I agree, I don't think it makes much difference what is put on air during the spring and summer months. The ratings will be low. Of course it would be nice to have quality material even if the ratings don't reflect it. I've heard some people talking about boycotting the show, but that isn't going to make more of a dent than the usual drop in ratings. |

I think so far so good, Days is up the most from March 2017. I think it will avoid a new low in total viewers (1,943,000) but maybe not in the demos. |

I don't think Ron should be fired by any means, but I am the unhappiest right now since his DAYS started. I am just finding myself not very interested. I fast forward a lot - except for Vivian. I would like this multiple personality storyline and trial to end. ASAP. And I don't understand this Chloe Lucas stuff. Why should we care? To sum: I like Ron's DAYS mostly, but it's on the decline. I don't want to see him leave, I just want him to do better because I loved his first few months. Edited by King, Apr 20 2018, 05:51 PM.
