SOD:
Passions: Pilar’s secret revealed! For months, Pilar has been hiding a secret and this week, it’s finally revealed—and it’s a doozy! Though flashbacks (in which Eva Tamargo’s daughter Gaby Lemus plays a young Pilar), we learn that Pilar was raped by her friend Juanita’s husband, Carlos, who was part of a crime family. Pilar ended up killing her in self defense. When the police arrived, a shoot-out ensued and the rest of Juanita’s family was killed. Since then, Pilar has been trying to keep her distance from a vengeful Juanita. “It just goes to show you that if you stay on a soap opera longe enough, you too shall have secrets,” chuckles Tamargo, adding that the reveal surprised her. “It wasn’t even close to what I thought it would be,” he admits, “although I have to say that I thought it would be pretty big stuff, I like to believe that we all have demons and skeletons. I think this secret of Pilar says a lot about the woman!” Didn’t Pilar realize she’d have to face Juanita again one day? “She realizes that this woman has no scruples, no boundaries, no shame,” says Tamargo. “But through prayer and her amazing faith, Pilar felt she was safe. A tragedy like that changes you forever. You carry it with you everywhere you go and the last thing you’d want is for your children to experience that kind of tragic pain.” The actress got a kick out of working with her real-life daughter. “Having a teen daughter play me on the show is by far the highlight of my career,” she raves. “Can you imagine? She was so professional, so prepared, so her own person. She really didn’t need my advice. I’ve always just let me be and this was no exception. But, wow, I’m old enough to have my teenage daughter play me (laughs)!”

Thanks Angie!

These suck.

Foah sex? Shitty seducing Luis? :puke:

Somehow, I had a feeling I was going to be disappointed with Pilar's secret. <_<

I like Pilar's secret. It wasn't predictable and actually is character-driven! I will give JER credit for that one.

Mostly, the rest is a mess and that is an understatement.

Oh, I fully approve of and love Pilar's secret. IA that it's not predictable, and damn the writers for pulling this shit now.

Still...it seems promising. It actually grounds Pilar, explains why she's such a religious freak, why she wanted her kids to stay away from the Crane family (another crime family).

Yeah, it has its flaws- you know her kids have been all over the media so Juanita should've figured it out by now. And she did send Paloma off to live with family in Mexico (why do I think that originally Pilar was written as Spanish/from Spain?) But it's pretty coherent, especially when compared to Katherine/Martin, Rachel, and TC's shed housing a stupid car. And it actually enhances the character!

I'm not so down on the other stuff, either. I like when Tabitha acts to interfere in relationships. It allows me to do weave some bullshit artistry and imagine Passions as something more than a dumb television show. It makes the show feel more literary in nature.

It may not have been something I would have thought of initially, but Pilar's secret is just plain boring, and IMO, she has absolutely nothing to feel guilty about. Sorry, but this is just another letdown for me.

I think it's actually pretty good. Pilar killed someone; that is very shocking. She has been the saint of the show and now it shows she is flawed. I know it was in self-defense from her rapist, but nonetheless I never saw that coming from Pilar.

Sorry it's a letdown for you.

IA that she has nothing to feel guilty about, but I can understand her reaction. Raped, killed a man, saw a slaughter at a shootout...Plus I can rewrite in my head so that she's not motivated by guilt but fear.

Did they drop the chip in Fancy's brain story?

We hadn't seen Pretty and Alister in a long time, I almost have forgotten about them.

Normally, I hate when stories are just dropped with no explanation, but this is one instance where I'd be willing to make a BIG exception.
