News for the week of 19-Nov-2007

Nathaniel Marston has been replaced by Chris Stack in the pivotal role of Michael McBain, as of December 3rd’s viewing. Marston’s final scenes will air November 29. After ABC Daytime announced they were letting Marston go, the actor made an official statement of his own on his website, thanking fans and co-stars, looking ahead to other possible acting projects and encouraging those who want him to stay to write in to TPTB like they did before when they saved his job (from Al to Michael). Michael Easton, who plays Michael’s brother John, said a few words on his website about wishing Marston well and crediting Marston with bringing the emotional power to all of their scenes as brothers.

Little did Kassie DePaiva (Blair) know but her first Ladies Home Journal collective, re-wedding, hosting gig would become a warm, welcome tradition for her and her husband James (ex-Max). Two years ago, they went to Jamaica to renew their vows with other couples—an event DePaiva initially dismissed as “hokey,” until she found herself sobbing emotionally during the event. “If you just take the time to reflect on how you met, what you’ve gone through to be together and what your union means, it’s moving,” she said. “And then you add a pretty setting, a glass of champagne and beautiful music, and you’ve got the moment.” She and her husband did it for a third time this year, in St. Lucia, with the same magazine and her serving as host. –Soap Opera Digest, November 20, 2007

BethAnn Bonner (Talia) learned firsthand that Michael Easton’s (John) not near as “huffy” as his character’s buttoned-up reputation in a scene involving him coming across a lot of revealing files on a computer. During blocking, Bonner threw out a euphemism DIY, aka Do It Yourself, and Easton threw back an OMG, aka Oh My God in online-speak—outside the script. It was so surprising that he would know this acronym and be so silly about it that Bonner cracked up, and “he was like, ‘Don’t laugh now. Wait until it’s filming!’” –Soap Opera Digest, November 20, 2007

Did you know Jared was originally referred to as Evan, before John Brotherton took the role on-screen? It happens sometimes, said OLTL casting director Julie Madison. Sometimes, she has to just go with a name as a reference point, and then it changes due to various reasons… to avoid confusing it with another character on another show, it existed before, etc.

Brandon Buddy (Cole) thinks everybody should go watch the movie Trevor St. John’s (Todd) in called, The Kingdom.

Tobias Truvillion’s (Vincent) taste goes toward rhythm and blues, jazz, new and old school. Stuff like Kool & the Gang, Mandrill, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Kurt Elling, Kanye West, Amy Winehouse, Jill Scott and Corinne Bailey Rae. He also has room for classic rap from artists of Biggie Smalls’ and Tupac Shakur’s caliber.
