The third shooter at the church is identified this week and it's a shocker; Marlena was the mysterious woman in back who fired off a shot at her son-on-law.

"It's interesting, isn't it?" winks Deidre Hall [Marlena]. "She's a little tweaked in a completely empowered way. She's not the Marlena you've seen before and she's not going to be that Marlena for a while, if ever again. It's a new journey." One that Hall is taking gladly. "This is bolder, far less accountable Marlena. I love change. It's fun to play her with her darker side and her lack of fear. You won't feel safe with her for a while."

The road leads to Doc Evans after Bo has a conversation with Stefano, and the Phoenix fingers his foe. Bo comforts a defensive Marlena, who advises him to speak with her lawyer and exits in a huff. Hope follows her home, where she catches Marlena preparing to throw out a trash bag that contains the black dress, hat and veil - and a gun. Marlena is forced to come clean. "I think with most people who are essentially good, she knows she'll get caught at some point," but because she's so distraught, she thinks, ' I live here at the apartment or I live in prison. Whatever.' Her fears are gone. She's lost her love connection to life because of John's death."

Hope promises to do what she can to help Marlena. "Marlena is un-invested in her future," shrugs Hall. "Her past life was about keeping her family safe, being a good human being, and doing her job well. Now, she's got a new way of being in the world. She has nothing left to lose."

While Marlena is dealing with the fallout of the shooting, Belle is having big problems of her own. Philip offers to help further Shawn's career if newly married Belle will spend the night with him. "She's offended by the offer," declares Martha Madison [Belle]. "She certainly isn't planning to give in to anything as ridiculous as that."

She quickly changes her mind, however, when she learns that Shawn messed up a crime scene and got in trouble with his superiors. "She's trying to help Shawn," defends Madison. "She is feeling really, really guilty about writing that letter to the Academy and she would do anything to help him, so she decides to take Philip up on his offer. She's willing to pay the price to try to right a wrong, but she's just digging herself in deeper."

So Belle meets Philip at a hotel by the airport. They exchange 'I love you's,' then fall into a passionate kiss, but Philip pulls away. "He sees how hard this is for her and let's her go. It's a neat and kind of redeeming moment for him," says Madison.

A devastated Belle leaves and runs into a old friend in the corridor - Chloe. "Their reunion is very awkward," understates Nadia Bjorlin[Chloe], who returns after a two year absence. "Chloe has some mystery to her as to why she's back in town, so I think she's equally surprised to see Belle." And even more surprised when her ex-beau, Philip, comes out of the room. "Of course, Chloe is very intrigued as to why Belle, who just got married, would be in a hotel room without her husband. They are busted, regardless of whatever they may have been doing. Chloe figures out right away that something is going on."

Madison describes Belle's reaction as, "Shock and awe. Chloe is the last person Belle expected to see when she was walking out of that hotel room. And everything about the timing of it, and Brady not being there, is overwhelming, at first and Belle is just trying to get out of there."

Don't expect the newly divorced Chloe to let the indiscretion pass unnoticed. "Chloe is a very different woman, as is Belle. Anything is possible now," teases Madison.

Marlena the shooter...how boring.

Phil not using Belle's feelings to his own personal gain? Seems the writers got the hint from the whole Ejami 12/29 fiasco.

Well, this time it makes sense. It did in 1985 too... but not in 2003-04.

Nadia BORING? Accidental on-purpose slip-up in typing? :P

Seriously????????????? Marlena as the shooter is the best possible choice..She had the biggest motive..and she's the most emotionally unstable right now..And this will hopefully give Deidre Hall some incredible material to play in the upcoming months..Hopefully EJ, Sami, and Lucas can sit on the backburner for a while...and Marlena can come to the frontburner..

I'm so glad that Marlena is the lady in black. Awesome twist! I can't wait to see how this will unfold into Marlena's storyline in December. Sounds good so far.

And this is getting me even more excited for Chloe's return. I can't wait to see Chloe and Belle at odds. I know it's going to happen.

Thanks for posting. No shock that it was Marlena but I think taking Marelena in a darker direction could be interesting.

When exactly did Phelle fall in wuv? When he was stealing Belle's child?

It's too bad Marlena wasn't a better shot and killed the rapist.

Well considering there were two rapists standing at the altar, I have to ask, which one? ;)

Thanks for saving me the trouble, Drew.

And Nadia Boring? Whether that was a Freudian slip or intentional... LOL!

BTW, I'm sooooooooooo glad Marlena is the lady in black. I would have been disappointed if it was anyone else quite honestly. So much dramatic potential with this.

Oh, common people, it sounds wonderfull! Not just the fact that Marlena is the shooter, we all are spoiler addict so we all knew it was coming, but the timing and the way those stories flow into each other. I love it! It sound like a wonderfull week.

I´m sure this is the first week Ed Scott had a full control over the storylines. The change is evident. And the actors seems to be excited too. Finally some fresh material. :)

Not surprised at all that Marlena was the lady in black. Not a huge surprised, but I do think there is more drama in the investigation of who shot EJ than many of the other stories.

I don't get Belle at all. She thinks that sleeping with Philip to get evidence to help Shawn's career is going to make up for the letter. I seriously don't think Shawn would see it that way.

And I still don't get why Chloe is going to be so bitter and cynical now. I have to wonder if we are going to find out something that Brady made her life miserable.

Thanks

No, it wasn't a Freudian slip, lol. I typed Bjorlin's name in wrong, put on spellcheck, and I accidentally clicked a word it was suggesting: Boring. I'm glad that happened because I've picked up on some boards the same typo without them giving credit to DR - they are SO busted.
