Amber vies for 'Face' time. Victor and Nikki take their conflict to court while they battle over the future of Victoria and her unborn baby. Brad has a surprising demand regarding Victoria's baby. Jack enlists Ben's help in an attempt to incriminate Victor -- but will he damage his own career? Gloria and Kevin come one step closer to learning Jack's secret. Meanwhile, Gloria schemes to throw Jeff's suspicions on someone else. Cane encourages Lily to enter the 'Face of Jabot' contest,, while Amber is determined to compete - despite Cane's objections. Victoria heads for surgery. THE NEWMANS REMAIN DIVIDED ABOUT VICTORIA'S FUTURE As Victor and Nikki continue to disagree about the best course of action for Victoria and her baby, Brad informs Nikki that Brad believes that it is NIKKI who is making the right decision. Brad advises Nikki to make herself scarce so that the summons can NOT be served on her - thereby delaying any decision being handed down. Victor becomes increasingly irritated when the summons arrives but Nikki is suddenly Missing In Action. David Chow is the only one aware of Brad's conversation with Nikki. In the meantime, Brad brings a petition to become the guardian of the fetus. Brad sincerely believes that he is doing what Victoria would want him to do. Victor hits the roof. Michael informs Victor and J.T. that there will be a court-appointed advocate for Victoria - who will listen to BOTH Victor's and Nikki's positions about Victoria - then decide what is best for Victoria. Later, in court, the Newmans and Dr. Webb present their opinions to a judge. Under oath, Victor admits that he would give up HIS life for his daughter. Later, Nikki admits that she has NO proof that Victoria would want her baby to live instead of her. When Brad testifies, Brad explains how devastated Victoria was when she lost her previous baby. Brad insists that he NEVER stopped loving Victoria - and would be the best person to be the baby's guardian. When it looks like Victor is the one who will succeed in winning his point, Brad rushes into the courtroom with a letter which he claims will prove that Victoria would WANT her baby to live. When they were married and Victoria was expecting her previous child, Victoria wrote a letter to Brad, which Brad reads out loud in court. The letter expresses Victoria's love for her unborn child and emphasizes that Victoria would do anything to keep that baby safe. The judge then calls a recess in order to come up with a ruling. However, while everyone anxiously waits the judge's decision, a development at the hospital may make that decision for them. J.T. calls Nick and informs Nick that the baby is in distress and a court decision needs to be made immediately. Nick relays this message to Nikki and Victor - and instead of waiting for the judge's decision, Nikki and Victor finally agree to order a C-section. Meanwhile, Gloria tells Kevin that she wishes that Kevin would move on from Jana - since Jana is a killer who will hopefully ALWAYS be locked up in jail! Heather tells Phyllis that, when the District Attorney's office retries her case, Phyllis can plead guilty to a lesser charge. At a press conference, Jack and Ben plant a reporter to ask Jack a question about Victor Newman ALSO being a suspect in the investigation into Ji Min Kim's death. Later, Gloria tells Kevin that she just got a brilliant idea. Will's letter to Jeff only said: "Don't let 'her' get away with it.' So Gloria plans to persuade Jeff that the 'her' whom Will was referring to was Jill - whom William dated FIRST after Will's wife died. JACK AND BEN CONSPIRE TO LEAD THE POLICE INVESTIGATION IN VICTOR'S DIRECTION While the press is beating up on its favorite whipping boy - Jack Abbott - Jack's problems go from bad to worse when the Wisconsin ethics committee decides to discuss Jack's fitness to remain in office. First - there was the scandal which erupted when it became public knowledge that Jack HAD secretly been the owner of Jabot. Next, the garage which collapsed was on JACK'S property. Then there have been leaks to the press about Jack being a suspect in the investigation into Ji Min Kim's murder. Of course, Gloria has been a busy bee in the meantime, bombarding the Ethics panel with anonymous E mails which primarily attempt to smear Jack's name. Jack decides to go on record during a press conference, but manages to ALSO plant a question about Ji Min's murder. Since Jack can not come out and publicly remind the public that Victor is ALSO a possible suspect - Jack has to find a way for SOMEONE else to bring it up. So Jack and Ben plant a reporter in the press conference who asks Jack a pointed question about Victor Newman's involvement in the case. Jack helps punctuate the question by asking the reporter to repeat the question and then responding "It would be wrong of me to comment." Jack's plan gets the reaction which Jack is looking for from the press - but Sharon gets wind of the charade and reminds Jack that it is not exactly ethical to try to cast suspicion on Victor at the same time that Victor is in turmoil about his daughter's medical condition. Jack promises Sharon that he is NOT going to bring it up and, technically, Jack kept his promise. But Ben has made no promises to Sharon and Ben goes right to Maggie and asks WHY Maggie is NOT looking at Victor as a suspect in Ji Min's murder. Then Ben threatens legal action if Maggie slanders Jack. Unfortunately for Ben, someone records Ben's conversation with Maggie! The entire conversation turns out looking like Jack's right-hand-man is saying to the police: "This is inconvenient for the senator. Is there some way we can make this go away?" And, of course, the situation is even LESS likely to go away once Ben's confrontation with Maggie becomes public knowledge. SUMMARY OF THE WEEK'S EVENTS 12/3-12/7 Victoria clings to life. Jack's enemies testify. Nikki makes a move on behalf of Victoria. Cane and Heather come to a decision. The police focus on Victor. WINTER PREVIEWS Neil's relationship with Karen is threatened by Neil's memories of Dru. Kevin continues in his attempts to redeem Jana, Kevin remains uncertain about the reasons why Jana murdered Carmen. Amber is her own worst enemy and is looking at tough sledding ahead. Adrian has a much more complicated past than is known. As information about Adrian's past begins to leak out, Colleen rethinks her commitment to Adrian and ends up turning to someone else. Now that Paul's daughter, Heather, is on the scene - there is some speculation that Heather's mother, April, will soon turn up in town as well. Linked |
