Sunday, December 02, 2007 There goes Mr. Ed on 'Guiding Light' By CAROLYN HINSEY Sunday, December 2nd 2007, 4:00 AM David Andrew Macdonald Rick stabs Edmund Monday on "Guiding Light," but that turns out to be the least of his problems. "Rick is very high-strung," says David Andrew Macdonald, who plays the villainous Edmund. "Edmund used to sleep with Rick's wife [Beth] and it was the best sex she ever had. Rick is threatened by that." No, seriously. "The other version of the story is that Edmund has information that he challenges Rick with. But 'better sex' is a better story."The "information" Edmund has is that Rick is not the father of Beth's baby - Alan is. "Edmund is in the hospital being treated for wounds that he received when he was a prisoner of Jeffrey O'Neill's and his henchman, Roc Hoover," says the actor. "Just a couple of guys who were jealous about the fact that their ex-wives had better sex with Edmund." While there, Edmund blackmails Dr. Rick Bauer with the baby secret in exchange for claiming Edmund has "a condition" that makes flying unsafe, so he can't go to jail." Edmund threatens Rick, and Rick doesn't know what to do. So he stabs Edmund with a syringe and fills him full of drugs. "D.A. O'Neill comes by, sees the syringe in Rick's hand and Edmund on the ground and says, "Nice work." Edmund wakes up and heads for Josh's ordination, where he plans to tell all. He makes his way to the church loft, where an unseen person then throws him off. "Anyone who's connected in any way to Springfield has motive," says Macdonald, starting with Rick, Jeffrey, Reva and even Cassie's creepy little boy, Will. "I personally don't think he has the strength to do it, but he's definitely in the church," says Macdonald. "He and Edmund have just had a conversation that he's upset by. But how would that kid have done it? He's not even the size of my left leg." Bring on the whodunnit! "As far as I know, Edmund is in a coma," says the actor. "He does wake up at some point, briefly, to try to utter the name of the person who pushed him."Is Edmund's bedside surrounded by loved ones?" Hardly," says Macdonald with a chuckle."The people around his bedside are muttering,'Die, die, die!' " |

I would hope they don't get rid of Edmund permanently. He has put some spark back in to Springfield and is making me want to watch again. |

The show is REALLY trying to get me to not like Edmund and root for preacher Josh, saint Cassie, and the hero of all heroes, Jeffrey O'Neil. Sorry GL, but it aint workin. I'm rooting for Eddie to ruin all of their lives. |

Seriously, if I were watching, I would be rooting for Edmund to kill Cassie and Jeffrey...and maybe inflict some harm upon Josh (at least enough to bring him to his senses). |
