Christmas Episode Spoiler

The Christmas Episode is going to air December 21. Let me tell you....it was a MAJOR undertaking. I am still exhausted! It was most likely...I hate to say....the last of these type of shows. There just isn't the money these days for Soap Operas to be so extravagant. But we pulled out all the stops for this one..... There were TV crews from the Netherlands (we are very popular there...) and Canada covering it for their entertaiment shows as well.

Tune into As The World Turns on Friday, December 21 for a special Christmas episode that brings a turn-of-the-20th-century dollhouse to life and depicts the residents of Oakdale in situations that may or may not be reminiscent of their own.

As near as I can figure, it's a period costume fantasy episode.

Why? Not a clue.

Ughh...I'm dreading this.

Why can't we just have a nice simple Christmas episode with the Hughes and Snyder families? That would make a helluva lot more people happy than some budget burning crap, which is what this sounds like. <_<

This just sounds weird. I really don't like this kind of stuff. fantasy are okay but a whole episode of it just sounds...off putting.

More Info here!

On AS THE WORLD TURNS, Gwen and Will receive the ultimate Christmas present in the form of their new daughter. The Hughes family gathers to celebrate the holiday in Bob's hospital room and pray for a Christmas miracle, while Jack isn't feeling goodwill towards man when he warns Sam to stay away from his family. And in a special episode, a turn of the 20th Century dollhouse comes to life and depicts the residents of Oakdale in situations that may or may not be reminiscent of their own.

Here is some more from SOD, though this is only part of the article that someone typed up, there is more.

http://z13.invisionfree.com/vanhans...?showtopic=4293

Here is just some of the info in the newest SOD:

For a special episode that airs on December 21, Oakdale is swept up into a Victorian-era fantasy inspired by a dollhouse in an Old Town shop window.

At the end of the show, the entire cast sings a carol.

Many of the characters take on different parts, such as Brad as a reverend and Katie as a maiden. Lucinda is a cook, with Margo, Tom & Bob as part of her staff.

Van Hansis (Luke) and Jake Silbermann (Noah) play former schoolmates who discuss their "friendship."

The article mentions: "Other stories are slightly tweaked, as well, with an UPSTAIRS, DOWNSTAIRS twist reminscent of the film Gosford Park."

Also, every single cast member has a corresponding doll, replete with identical costume.

Holden: stablehand
Aaron: thief
Vienna: quiet spinster
Sophie: ex-prostitute
Dusty: gambler
Chris: squabbling doctor
Jack: Army captain

So here's one of the reasons soaps are losing money. The dumbass writers come up with a dumbass idea that costs them tons of money and them the viewers don't even care!! UGH! It sounds like someone in the writing room @ ATWT was watching old clips on YouTube of Reva's time traveling painting and thought, "Hey that did nothing for GL, let's have them travel back in time through a dollhouse." You're As The World Turns people, this works for Passions, not here. And it would be so easy to come up with a Christmas episode, it's not hard, featuring your leading veteran ladies who have family: Lucinda, Susan, Emma, Nancy...mix that all together and you have yourself a beautiful Christmas episode!
