CBS has ordered an additional season of The Amazing Race. Variety reports this “is a vindication for ‘Race,’ which appeared to be fading in the ratings during its 11th outing earlier this year — but earned a pickup anyway.” Last year’s renewal was also a one-season renewal, compared to previous renewals which were for two more seasons. Casting already took place for the 13th season, and its application [PDF] said that filming would be “starting sometime in or around April - May of 2008.” However, it’s possible that could be moved up, as the premiere of this current season was moved up to this fall instead of 2008. |

This season has been a particularly disappointing one. Don't get me wrong- I still like the show, but the casting this year just doesn't interest me. Hope the next installment picks up some steam. |
