That is the case with all fanbases and it sucks that some have to pay for the craziness of others. I used to be a big J&M fan and then I just lost interest, probably because I felt Drake wasn't into it anymore. Now, though, I am interested in them again due to the new take on them with John's transformation.

I think most fans that post on message boards or write letters to magazines are more the same then they are different. We are all obsessive to a point or we wouldn't be spending time posting about a TV show. Besides, it's more fun when you really love a character or couple, I know I would have stopped watching Days long ago. I didn't even think twice when I stopped watching OLTL or Y&R (could only take that show for about 2 years and I was over it). Wooohoooo! John and Marlena :cheer:

No one is saying it's wrong to be a fan of a couple or to show support and push for your couple and what you want to see. What some of us are saying is that some fanbases get a bad rep because many of them have people or groups of people who do nothing but nitpick over little things (fountains, etc.) and seem to never be happy unless they see their couple 24/7, happy, and doing nothing but being in stories together thereby foregoing any possible individual stories for both characters, which ultimately hurts both characters. It's sad that everyone gets lumped together with the bad apples who are irrational and over the top about what they want and that is what we are saying. The whole fanbase isn't bad but some in it are and that is where the problem lies and that goes for any fanbase.

Posts: 137 Group: Members Member #575 Joined: November 30, 2007	Its funny, I was the biggest obsessed John and Marlena fan out there up until the stupid Melaswen storyline came along after the Salem Serial Killer. Then I kind of lost interest in the show completely when she was in that castle and John was with Kate. The writer's really have come up with some ridiculous stories for them. I think I stopped watching the show altogether for a while. John's coma and then getting killed off hurt a lot. When he came back, I became one of those obsessed fans again. And Deidre and Drake have been rockin this storyline. All I gotta say is, sometimes it pays to complain and be loud. We are the whole reason Drake was brought back. So, for that, I think the ranting and raving paid off. I mean, you have to admit, 2007 pretty much sucked for J&M. John was in a coma for 6 months, he came back and they were barely on, used as a sideshow for the Colleen/Santo stuff, then he was killed, which was completely heartbreaking. I think we had some legitimate beefs.
