When Bo was thought to be dying, the idea that Doug and Julie wouldn't be there for Hope was crazy. If Hope's family is in major crisis, we should see her Dad... So while I'm glad we at least get to see them at holidays, they should have been there during that trauma.

Corday would much rather see gross, incestuous Stax than two longtime beloved characters like Doug and Julie.

They really don't bother me that much anymore. They were hot on Thursday's episode. They're cute; I disagree with them, fundamentally. But, I can live with it.

Doug and Julie are being used as they should, IMO. Big events. Every now and then...holidays...weddings.

Can I slap you? :P

Yeah, that didn't make any sense to me either. They had them on last summer to read LETTERS but not when Bo could be dying? That makes them look like they have jacked up priorities lmao :P

Perhaps they tried but Bill and Susan were unavailable, which is why the show should use them more so they would be available.

Back in 2001-2002 and even 2004, the show used them so much they were always available because they knew the show needed them. If they don't know that and are hardly used, they aren't just going to sit and wait. Let's also remember Alice was supposed to be in some of the scenes during Bo's illness but Frances was unable.

This is good news though. I'm sure it's 4th of July related but the fact that it's for 4 episodes tells me it's something more and it usually means it will end up being more then 4. Usually, they are scheduled to appear in only a few and end up staying longer then expected and I hope that is the case here. Nice having more family around.

but that wasnt the case. they asked KC if they would be needed or not because if not theyw ere going away for a bit and he told them to go. that was after the bo saga so obviously if they check in and touch base they would have been able to appear.

I remember being so pissed that Corday brought Bill and Susan back after promising that neither would be killed by the serial killer and then Doug ended up dead. But by that point, Corday knew that none of the victims would stay dead so, technically, he wasn't lying.

Oh, I was furious about that! I was more pissed off about that than I am about Joe Mascolo's firing right now.

* Guess who is making another appearance this summer? Doug and Julie (Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth Hayes) for a run starting July 1, that continues, July 2 and July 7.

I guess that cements it. D&J will be back for the Horton/Brady BBQ. Days is preempted on July 3 and 4 so it fits. They usually end up staying longer so we'll see.

Can't wait to see them!

Doug & Julie haven't been wanted in Salem basically since the mid 80's when they were both forced out as part of the youth craze on the show. Why they have been so faithful to the show throughout all these years has always surprised me after the show has made it so clear they weren't wanted.

They were only brought back due to fan outrage and it took forever to get them back. If anyone wants to talk about fan bases that were done wrong - this is the fan base that was treated the worst during Days history.

For 6 years Doug & Julie fans waited for Doug & Julie to get together. We got to enjoy them together as husband and wife for less than 2 years before they got divorced when Julie got burned. Doug married Lee and it took them forever to get back together. then they write them off shortly after they get back together - divorce them offscreen. Julie comes back to town hardly mentions Doug - flirts around with everyone and totally acted nothing like the Julie we knew and loved anymore. She reverted back to the Julie she was before she found Doug's love.

Then she leaves town - gets back together with Doug offscreen.

The Hayes carried Days through the 70's. The first part of the 70's they had help but they didn't from 75 on - until the very last part when Deidre and Jed along with Josh Taylor/Barbara Stanger got very popular and were the 2 other couples again. After Days lost Denise Alexander and Susan Flannery, the Hayes were the ones who stayed very popular with the fans. And they kept the ratings up.

The way Days has treated them over the years since the 80's is atrocious. And the way the Hayes continue to act is very gracious on their part. As others have pointed out they stay in touch with the show and don't make plans without checking in to see if they are needed. They cleared a whole summer to sit around and read letters. When they would have probably made more money touring.

They are both very gracious and big Days cheerleaders. It is sad the way Days treats them.
