Beth Milstein did a good job as interim headwriter before Sheffer came on board! Did she write Jack/Jennifer's final SL? That was some of the best stuff I'd seen on DAYS in years. :hail:

I know the perfect person to replace Higley as head writer................. the fans. We know what we want in a story and how to boost the ratings.

God, I hope JER never writes a soap opera gain (JMO).

Honestly, as much as JER really drove ratings in the 1990s, IMO he pretty much wrecked the show for the long-haul. He made the show ultra campy when it had never been ultra campy before (true, it had quite a few adventure stories and sci-fi elements starting in the 1980s thanks to the GH influence spread across all of the genre), but never out and out campy. Unfortunately, that campiness grabbed ratings and a lot of other soaps started following suit (hell, NBC even tried to *force* AW to be more outthere to the level of Days. That's one of the reasons we got Lumina *shudder*). Ever since, subsequent writers have been stuck with attempting to do the 1990s camp side of Days while trying to ground it somewhat and it's just never worked. Truly, no one but JER can write like JER (and, truthful, even *he* can't really write like JER anymore). I truly feel that whomever becomes the next HW is going to have to write in a style all their own and not try to copy any previous style. Will it draw a lot of cricism? More than likely, but I think it's a chance the show has to take. Perhaps they should look at a novelist or a playwrite who's never done daytime before. I dont know. Hell, there are a shit load of writers online who can tell stories far better than the majority of the HWs we've seen over the last decade. Unfortunately, from everything I've read and heard, the genre really looks down their noses at websoap writers and such which, IMO, is a damn shame.
100% agree.

Does anyone have any possibilities as to what primetime/novelist/etc writers may be good ideas? I can't think of any. I keep trying to come up with some "out of the box" ideas.

Like I said before, let all of us Days fan fic writers get a hold of the show  .

One thing I don't understand is why Sheri Anderson is given all the credit for the stuff that happend 1982-1986 when there were several co-headwriters during those years. The only time she was single headwriter was june-july 92 and august-december 92.

----

My first choice would be Cwikly and Brash. But I also wouldn't mind Sussman-Morina, as long as she stays away from brainwashing and computer chips, she took those things to far IMO.
