I would just love for DAYS to be able to have a variety of sets again. Like, how often do we see Salem Place or the Java Cafe anymore? It was the norm for Salemites to go shopping, being seen on the streets of Salem and whatnot. Nowdays, all we see is their homes, the hospital or the Brady Pub.

If the outdoors Salem Place set still exists, and I'm pretty sure that it does, I can't for the life of me understand why it's not being used.

So, there is too much bad to mention lol So I will focus on what is working.

More character interaction, the return of Nicole, and Tamara Braun. I am hoping and praying she will change her mind and stay; she is amazing,

It was there during one of the videos of that whackjob intern. She walked through it. I wonder why they don't use it???

It seems like it would be a waste of money to keep it up and not use it, which, for a show with supposed "budget constraints", would be pretty dumb.

Having been to the Burbank studios, the Salem Place lot is seriously not that big...I think just there for show now, its literally right next to the NBC ticket office..

I don't see the problem with Jinxed Soul listing the sets as bad, it is bad. We know they have budget problems but that should not mean we can't list it as bad.
I never said it was bad. I agree the set issue is a problem. All I am saying is that it's a problem that will never be fixed because the budget is going to get worse before it gets better and I would rather see vets then worry about the sets.

The only realistic way to solve the set situation is through the writing, as I pointed out in my first post. If they write in a way that accommodates the set issue like Hogan did, it's not a problem. It may be annoying at times but it ends up being better then the way Higley is handling it.

As for Salem Place, a friend of mine had a tour a few months back and saw the Salem Place set. There was construction across the street for awhile and that is why they stopped using it at first because noise could be heard and dust would hit the lot a bit. I guess the tour guide said that the lot is no longer used due to financial constraints, which makes sense because you do have to change the way you shoot outside and probably need different lighting. I wish they would use it though because it would make the show look better, even if it ends up costing a bit more.

I wish we could see the Penthouse Grille every once in a while. I'm tired of seeing everyone only eating at Chez Rouge or the pub.

^That would be awesome. I think the last time they used it was in October 2006 when Sami, Lucas, and Will were out the dinner the same night Abe and Lexie were. I think that was when Lexie dumped a drink on Sami's head or something.

I know they used it in April 2007 when Celeste and Sami were plotting to kill E.J., but I don't remember if they've used it since then.

^Ah, yes. Your right. I forgot that. Sami was out to dinner with Chelsea talking about the wedding and Celeste was there and so was EJ. That was only a year ago so I would think they still have that set.

I always loved that set and wish they would use that more instead of Chez Rouge and the Pub all the time.

We don't see the Cheatin' Heart anymore either.

One big pet peeve about the show I have right now has to do with the sets, actually. Almost every set has the same damn floor now, and it pisses me off.

I miss the Cheatin Heart too. The last time we saw it was in December I believe. The show needs a more relaxed bar atmosphere and it's hard to buy the Pub as that and Chez Rouge is fancy. Cheatin Heart was great because it had that edgy, rebellious feel and it houses some good memories. It would be nice to see Steve, Bo, Roman, etc occasionally heading to the Cheatin Heart and having a beer or something.

I guess with Adrienne gone they decided to just lose the Cheatin Heart for now. That's one thing I hate about Max working at the Pub. At least if he ran it for Adrienne, we would still see it. They should've had her leave it to Steve to take care of. Steve could run it and it would be fitting to the character and alot of fun.

The Good:

-Abe & Lexie's upcoming storyline.
-Nicole & Ava's friendship.
-Jawn vs Philip

The Bad

-Stax
-Max's Genius storyline
-Marlena not making her mind up.
-Ava's redemption. (I love Ava but why bother redeeming her if she's not staying.)
-Steve/Kayla
-Bo/Hope's lack of storyline.
-The flashbacks
-Tony/Anna's lack of storyline.
-Chan
-Daniel being the town's hero.

Isn't that where Chelsea got drunk right before their surgery? So it hasn't been that long.

And they need a bar bar for characters do get drunk in like that where the establishment isn't a blood related or close friend.

Adrienne, the owner, moved. When she was departing, I think she explained Max would look after the Cheatin' Heart, but his focus has shifted to the pub and the docks.

Nice topic. I'll bite...

The good:

Jawn, as long as it's temporary. I don't think I could take Drake doing this permanently, but if they could find a way to integrate John and Jawn that would be fine.

EJ/Nicole... I'm a Sami/Lucas fan (but not necessarily a Lumi faithful) and I have issues with what EJ did to Sami (but that's a whoooooole other topic... lol). James and Arianne have good chemistry.

Phillip/Morgan... I like JKJ with Nadia, but there's a sense that story played out long ago. I think they planned to have Chloe stick around to deal with Shawn/Phillip/Belle, but then Corday stupidly fired BB and MM (yes, Ken, I'm talking about you! lol)

More balance... it's nice to have more characters on every day instead of just dealing with the same five or six actors every hour.

The bad:
Chelsea/Daniel... Rachel Melvin and Blake Berris had good rapport with each other, but Higley pushed that aside for the tired old young woman falls for older guy plot. Been there, done that a thousand times over. Daniel has more charazzma with Kate (and would've even been a good guy for Billie had they not axed Julie Pinson).

More use of older vets: I want to see more Mickey/Maggie/Doug/Julie, even if it's just once a week or so... with Frances Reid's health an issue, they're going to have a lay a more firm foundation for the Horton family in Salem.

Flashbacks... all of you hit this on the head. I hated it when JERk did it, so why is Higley repeating past mistakes? We get what happened. A flashback from six months ago is fine shown once if you want to update a viewer on something, but we don't need a flashback from the previous day's episode, or even worse something that aired EARLIER IN THE SAME DAY'S SHOW. YUCK.

I don't get that either. They filmed at the street next to the Salem Place set last year during John's hit and run.

But no one said they wanted more sets at the cost of not seeing vets. Jinxed Soul simply listed the set thing under the category bad, I don't see the big deal about it.

And I don't think Hogan did a better job, not that he did bad but neither has Dena. Having several characters move in to the DiMera Mansion was okey I think.

But I don't get why they can't use more sets, I asked about this several months ago but I don't remember what the answer was. So can someone explain to me why they can't use more sets, I mean has their studio gotten smaller and they all of the sudden can't fit all the sets in that area or what? I thought they had the regular sets in the studio all the time and then during special stories if the characters went to another town or country they built some new sets and then removed them.
