Another thing about the sets that pissed me off is the new ugly color in the hallway at the DiMera Mansion. It's violet or something. Last years when the DiMeras returned and they started to use the DiMera Mansion again I hated the new light colors, because I was used to the old dark ones. But I got used to the light after a while, but this new violet is awful and so not DiMera. |

The good: Phloe! Seriously, they are the only reason I am still watching DAYS. I can understand why some people may see them as played out, but I am definitely not there. I like how things are different between them this time around and I like how they are still under the FWB thing-a concept neither seems to understand IMO. EJole. When Phloe is on, I will watch the EJole scenes if there are any. I think they have great chemistry and a lot of potential. Java. I love Jawn, but I was ff most of his scenes with Marlena. Ava has brought some new love to him. Jawn v. Philip. Some days I like this storyline, others I don't. Kate getting a storyline! I love Kate, so I am glad she is getting something. I am just afraid it will be used to further Dansea than Kate. Abe/Lexie/Theo. I am interested in seeing how the autism story is told. LucLoe friendship. The bad: Steve/Kayla/Little Joe. I was looking forward to the premature baby storyline for them, but that story hasn't really been told. Premature birth is a serious situation and can have life long effects, why aren't we seeing this? Morgan. I just can't stand the character in any way, shape, or form. I fully expected to like her, but the more I see the less I like of her. The accent makes me cringe and the writing has been horrible for her. She comes off as a know it all, but I don't see what she knows anything about. Also, she is very naive if she trusts Philip over Jawn. Really, Philip hasn't done anything to prove he is trustworthy to her. Stax. Too much airtime for them. I used to root for them until I realized they are semi-related. Dansea. Yuck! Can't they find another, more viable pairing? Victor/Nicole. I thought it would be a fun storyline...but we haven't seen much of it and it seems like they will agree on a settlement pretty soon. |

For the life of me, i can't understand why we aren't seeing this premature baby storyline play out...This could easily be a 2 or 3 day a week supporting story...The birth of Joe was very dramatic and MBE nailed it, but now all we get is updates from Stephanie and Kayla seems more concerned about Max being a genius..What a waste.. |

YES, I completely agree! Earlier today, I read a very moving piece about premature twins (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25063903 if anyone is interested), and after I read it, I realized that Days has/had the potential to evoke the exact same emotions with the Steve & Kayla story. Yet, like all other Higley stories, it's a two to three week story arc with no buildup beforehand and no fallout afterwards. An "event", not a story. Another missed opportunity - and like you're saying, this one could have been really good. Edited by Ellie, Jun 15 2008, 07:06 PM.

I thought I was just a little bored, but the more I think about it, I'm downright irritated with Higley's regime. Here are some reasons why: 1. Kevin Dobson is the new Mickey Horton. Two months later, we've seen him about three times??? 2. They finally listened to the fans and killed Shawn Brady. Caroline and Victor had a couple of nice scenes, and there was a "meow" scene between Kim and Victor. But those feelings have been brushed aside, I guess. 3. Roman slept with Anna! Tony came back, and Roman got over Anna. What da hell? And no mention of his one-night stand with Nicole before she left Salem. Guess we'll never find out what that was about. Maybe it's not Dena's duty to tie up loose ends from other writers (i.e., JER), but I wish someone would. 4. Okay, we have three doctors on the show now and a limited number of sets. I guess we'll have Patient of the Week stories now -- first Bo, then Chelsea, then Ava, now Kate. And what ever happened to Hope's symptoms? Did they go away? 5. It was hard for me to swallow Lexie being a doctor again, especially with the lame excuse that was given. It was even harder to learn she was chief of staff. But now she's back to being unethical again and shooting off her mouth about her patients. 6. Victor wanted to see Marlena for therapy, but that didn't last. I guess when Bo's sickness was quickly ended, Victor's need for therapy ended as well. Or maybe Marlena just couldn't accommodate future sessions because of her travel schedule these days. 7. Bo and Hope the bounty hunters are back as cops. I dread whatever's ahead for them. 8. Everyone is always making snarky comments about Rolf and to Rolf, yet a lot of these people had no interaction with or knowledge of him previously. Many LOL'd at Marlena's line (something like "Oh, Rolf, you're not dead anymore"), but when did anybody think he was dead? Aside from Rex and Mimi, did anyone know? 9. Marlena's dialogue is repetitive and unconvincing. She's in and out of town every other week. 10. I don't like how Max's story is being rewritten. I remember Trent Becker from 20 years ago, and I don't appreciate DAYS ignoring those of us who have been watching long enough to catch these things. 11. And what's the point with Tony and Anna? If you're going to bring back an actress as talented as Leann Hunley, you need to use her . . . and use her in a story worthy of her abilities. Otherwise, shame on you! I really didn't feel so negatively toward DAYS until I started typing this. I can sum up the state of the show in one word: BORING. Maybe Ken Corday could pay some money to consult with whoever hired Ron Carlivati; he could take lots of notes and title them with "How to Hire a Head Writer." |

^^ Excellent post!! Your list includes so many of the specific problems with Higley's storylines. It all boils down in my mind to the fact that she just doesn't seem to know how to construct a character-based, ongoing story arc. Her stories are like sets of three to five episodes strung together, rather than actual stories. I'd encourage you to send this to the magazines and to the show! |

Fantastic list. I can overlook a lot of things that IMO are insignificant like Roman/Nicole, Victor's therapy sessions etc. There are some as you have mentioned that seriously impact the storylines. On that note, regarding the new Mickey, they hardly ever show Maggie too, so I'm fine with that one. Mickey's name does come up from time to time through EJ. |

And I understand the budget situation and their reasoning for using fewer sets. But it's going to be so sad when the Hortons celebrate Christmas this year at the DiMera mansion. |

^ No, I really don't think DAYS would break a tradition as huge as the Horton's Christmas. If anything, they may not hold the Horton tradition this year, but they definitely wouldn't have it at a different loction. On the note, with so many changes occurring, I wouldn't mind them revamping and starting new traditions at the Brady house. |

I've watched DAYS since the early 70s, and there have been a lot of good times and a lot of bad times, but I've stuck with it, except for an occasional short break. However, changing the traditional Horton Christmas might be the last straw for me. IF they ever did away with that, I would seriously believe the DAYS I've always known and loved is gone forever. If they want to start new traditions, fine, but don't mess with the Horton ornament hanging! |

I agree, but IF they had to change it, that is what I would prefer to see. With so many changes taking place, I wouldn't be blown away if that occurred. |

I read the article, and I have to admit that I cried. Of course, it hit particularly home because I am currently in a "high risk" pregnancy with twins. Thanks for the link. And, WORD, to the sentiment that there was more storyline there to play out. Too bad because MBE and SN can rock that angsty material so well. |

Max being smart would totally work IF they would just explain why he doesn't want to admit to his intelligence. That is very unusual!! As soon as the writers provide a valid justification, I will probably be fine with this storyline. |

What is exactly is it? Because I'm not seeing any story for Bo and Hope. Just a bunch of filler scenes with green pimping and dancing. |

^ I do like Hope's increasing involvement in the police business. But, that's not much of a storyline at this point. |
