Wow!
Thanks guys! I totally forgot to set the TIVO and missed the damn show but after spending an hour reading your posts, I have a feeling that y'all are a bit more entertaining than the show!
I will never understand the Emmy's...how people get nominated, who wins, etc. Total popularity contest, and I hate that kind of shit.

My only comment from checking the links people sent and Getty Images is...who the hell dressed the Days cast?
I am embarassed to look at Bryan Datillo, Steven Nicols and MBE...these are gorgeous people and looked like shit at the PreEmmy show. Oh man!
Ali Sweeney's Emmy dress looks like my bedspread in my spare room! Rachel pulled off the yellow dress, but Nadia always looks the same! Did Darin even have a tie on?

I know that this is pretty petty and trivial, but so was the whole damn show!

Ooh, speaking of Nadia, even when she was presenting, her voice was monotone and devoid of any personality. She definitely has that thing down pat!

Has Sherri Sheppard pulled a Star Jones and gotten her own little secret "medical intervention", cause she's lost half of herself since I saw her a few months ago?
Sherri was recently diagnosed with Diabetes and decided to take better care of herself....she talks about it a lot on The View, I think she looks great.

I took some GREAT pics tonight as the stars were leaving the show. I missed the opening red carpet, but got a bunch of them leaving!

Tom Pelphrey and the girl who played Lizzie on GL were soooo nice and stopped and talked for a few minutes.

The rest were a little blaaaah, too busy for us. LOL. Kristen Renton and Blake Berris were walking around on the fan side of the velvet rope and no one noticed them but me!

I'm telling you...that girl is so SMALL (like short) and CUTE! I got the funniest pic of her. She was imitating what it was like to be bombarded with the cameras and waved her hands and that is when my camera went off! LOL!

Just got back and let me just say this was yet another pathetic Daytime Emmy's. From the poorly put together pre-show to the rushed and predictable festivities...it was just another ugh night.

First off, that Soapnet special was dreadful. Finola was "Samantha Harris-ing" everyone. You can't just cut people off left and right and what the hell was up with Rebecca yelling? Is she taking tips from Cameron? Nice to see some Days stars on the red carpet and FF and JPL were great too. Other then that, no other highlights for me from what was a poor excuse of a build-up show for the Emmy's. Liked last year's much better.

Now, on to the show. The beginning was quite humorous, especially the part where Sherri tells Erica that the cell is open. It's too bad the night went downhill from there for Cameron and Sherry. Between his yelling and over the top enthusiasm (it's ok to be excited but my God) to her shrieking and over the top propping at times and if I saw one more plug for Barbara Walters' book (that purse Sherry had was just too much)...let's just say you don't want to know what I'll do.

Same goes for that shitty GL theme song. Good thing I didn't drive tonight because that crap caused me to knock back a couple more. Thank God we got some other winners or I would've been dealing with alcohol poisoning. Same goes for the Ehlers and RPG pimping. Jesus, what is up with them anyway? All Ehlers is about now is RPG and it's sickening. This is just another casting coup that will do nothing in the end.

Laura Wright looked awful and how coincidental having Geary present to Tognoni again. I can't really argue with her win though. She was impressive last year so I'm cool with it. Same goes for Tom Pelphrey. He is over-rated but the work he submitted was solid so I can live with it and the rest of the field wasn't very impressive. If not for hearing that same theme song and seeing Wheeler's smiling face, I would be happier.

Jennifer Landon deserved it two years ago but she no way deserved it this year. Sorry. Melvin deserved it far and away. Landon's reel doesn't even come close and while every actor and actress phones it in at times, that not the point. Melvin's reel was far and away superior and it's a joke that the Emmy was basically handed to Landon. I like her but come on. If she gets it next year...hell, she shouldn't even submit.

Glad for KSJ and Jeannie Cooper. Refreshing to see some new winners. Cooper may not have deserved it but much like Scorcese at the Oscar's I recognize this as an appreciation of all her work so it's deserved and loved her speech. She was so shocked and looked like she was going to have a heart atttack. So sweet seeing Corbin there for her and looking on at his mother on stage. KSJ had a good reel so it's deserved. Loved his thanking Hearst for not being nominated but hated him praising LML. Ugh.

Geary's win pissed me off most of all. I don't get it. His reel was awful and I just had the feeling he would win because actor was last and then comes best show and it just played well for an ABC end to the night and since I knew OLTL had no shot (as they shouldn't submitting the prom episodes), I figured GH would pull it out at the end and had an idea Geary would get it. Geary could submit shitting on a toilet and would get a win. I know the award should go to whoever is deserving regardless of how many times they have won but with this award people hardly take their name out of submission and I think some should. Oprah did and I think the time has come for people like Ellen, Tony Geary, etc to do so as well. I mean, they are great but for them to just get Emmy's basically because of who they are (and it's clear that played a role) when others who deserve it go unnoticed is just wrong.

I also don't get OLTL for directing. I hate their directing. That is one field they are very weak on IMO but that woman (her name escapes me) gave a nice speech. Glad OLTL got writing but I do find it funny how Higley has an Emmy now. Ron doesn't speak anything at all like I thought he would but it was nice to see him on stage and getting so much praise, as if he needs anymore LOL.

Best show deserved to go to GH. Their montage was even the most effective, unlike the others who were choppy and the graphics just took too much away from what the montages were trying to do. I wish they just did a montage with a song and that;s it. GH came as close to that as anyone else so I liked their montage better and that Alan heart attack moment always hits me hard. Damn. I hate the stunt stuff but it's the way it is and they had the best reels. However, JFP's comments were awful. That bitch and her ego need to be shown the door. "This was expected!!" ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! What a slap in the face to the other soaps in the room. What a bitch!!

Glad Ellen won talk show host (clever having Hansis and Silverman present to her) but it was nice to see someone else, even if it was the annoying Rachel Ray, win. Tyra's clip and speech was empowering and I'm glad she won for that. Refreshing. The Regis stuff was good. Kimmel was funny but why did Regis have to go on and on about his career when Kimmel and the clip package gave us an overview? Talk about wasting time (which could've been spent on longer clip packages for the acting awards since they were rather short and some clips for the younger categories) but the rest of his speech was good.

Montel looked well. Glad they Children's stuff wasn't a part of the show but I did miss game show. WTF was up with that Judge Christian taking forever to reach the stage? Someone needed to put a stick of dynamite up her ass and what was up with that woman staring daggers at her during the speech? Ok...

Loved Lesli Kay's WTF reaction to Cameron kissing Sherry. Poor acting job by her too. The makeover shit is so stupid and why it's a part of this every year is beyond me. As I said, wish the clip packages were longer. I knew they would show Thaoo as a clown and Judi as Bonnie in the morgue scenes because they would get a laugh and get people's attention. Problem is that it makes Days look like a joke to people again but who cares. Wish Days won something but at least they were nominated and hopefully it continues. It was so nice to hear the theme song and see them all there. Thaoo and LeAnn kept being shown onscreen and looked great, as did the others from Days. Ari, Ali, and Nadia looked AMAZING. They did vamp it up indeed but Nadia was just as monotone presenting as in her acting. Wow.. Loved how Cameron mentioned Ari was celebrating her return to Days. Nice touch.

Really enjoyed FF and JPL's little awkward moment on stage when talking about the things they did on talk shows LOL. Jason Cook looked like shit. He needs to shave and he looked all sweaty and like he went to a tanning booth. Loved Bradford Anderson pulling Kirsten away from Cook. Poor Spinelli is going to get screwed. Thanks Frons. Speak of the devil, once again he shows his loyalties by sitting with GH. Again. Ugh.

Also, how annoying was Kim Zimmer? She barely said anything before the GL montage but there she is showing some major leg and showing her ego through facial expressions. I mean, she just oozes egoistical. She does look like she put on some weight though.

I also hated how Goddard and Khalil spoke for Y&R and the rubbing in of Y&R being #1 and all was so annoying. That made Jeannie Cooper's speech even more enjoyable. Alderson and Buddy were cute speaking for OLTL but wish someone else had done it. Oh and, on another note, Haskell looked AMAZING and loved Easton's comment about young actresses. Nice nod in support of veteran and older actresses. Too bad Depaiva had to ruin that segment with her "real" Marty comment. Is it that hard to say "original?" I mean, really? God, first ABC and now it's stars are doing this? It's so disrespectful and I could see that Susan looked a bit uncomfortable after the comment.

Hated the music montage too. You mean to tell me we get a filler montage about musical guests on daytime but no montage honoring the deceased? Stupid. Oh, how I wish they had kept this to 3 hours. It was so rushed and choppy. The clips weren't long enough. All so Frons could have MVP on after the Emmy's. Seriously, it's Friday night. His target young audience is not home to watch that shit. They are out so I don't get why he would bother. That leads me to another point. I really think the Emmy's should move to another night. Friday's are just a bad idea. People go out and all. Why not do it on a Sunday or even mid-week like other awards? I know the actors work and such, which is why they have it on Friday night, but I would think they could take one day off the next day and it wouldn't hurt and it may get a bigger audience, especially with less competition in summer and more people home during the week.

I will say some of the Days cast looked horrible. Peggy looked awful and so did SN and BD. LeAnn and Thaoo did look good, as did Darin and Rachel and, as I mentioned before, Ali, Ari, and Nadia. Ali and Ari barely could get around in their dresses though. Nadia looked afraid to step on there trains. They still weren't as bad as Gina Tognoni. She looked downright afraid of falling in that thing. I don't know why woman who are nominated wear dresses like that and take a risk like that when they know if they win it may be difficult. Hell, it's difficult to get around in something like that even if you don't win.

I should also say that ABC disappointed me. Other then the tables, the rest of the production sucked. I hated how most of the presenters came on stage. They should come in from the back. It's just classier then coming from the side. The stage looked weird too. It's depressing because CBS gets them next year and they suck on CBS now and I really expected better from ABC but I had a bad feeling from the minute they cut it to two hours (which was funny because they cut it soon after the Emmy nods came out and ABC got barely anything).

Liked watching some of the clips from the digital video cameras on the tables. The Days ones are cute and I liked looking at the pre-show pics. Stephen was hilarious with that camera, calling all the women pretty at the table and making Lauren Koslow (who looked great) all uncomfortable. MBE made such a cute face to the camera but couldn't make out what she was saying. Sounded like she said she was "videoing" or something. Shawn Christian was there too and I think I saw Ed Scott, who looked happy. Glad he did because I often wonder if he is happy at Days but the actors love him so he probably is. Figured he was there since his wife presented and was there too. I think I saw Ken Corday as the camera went by quick too. Glad Stephen chose to pass by him. I can't stand to look at him LOL. Hope to see more stuff from the tables, hopefully with more Days actors. It's a fun feature seeing everyone partying together.

Back to the evening though. It was a very predictable, dry night with some nice moments. Overall, though, very underwhelming.

I should add...glad you had fun, King. So cool you saw Renton and Berris and that Pelphrey and Rylan talked to you.

Just got home, so I know this is late, but I have to comment. Here goes!

First and foremost, were those the most ridiculous show montages or what? What happened to the good ol' days of just putting together clips from the past year, setting them to good music and letting it play like a music video? We don't need cheesy graphics or captions, damn it! That said, Y&R and GH had the best show montages.

Now, on to the categories...

Let me just start by saying that I'm sick of these awards being so predictable. Gee, Geary won Lead Actor? Shocking! Gee, General Hospital won best show? Shocking! Gina Tognoni won Supporting Actress? Stunned! Pelphrey won Younger Actor? Stop the presses!

*end sarcasm*

This show needs a complete overhaul. Does anybody even watch the tapes, or do they just decide to vote for the same old safe, predictable winners each year?

When General Hospital won Drama Series, did anyone catch JFP saying "we expected this" or some shit? What the hell?! LoL Also, what was up with her weird way of making it sound like GH's stories are somehow parallel to flood victims and shit? Get off the stage, bitch! I kept crossing my fingers for them to cut her off again, but it didn't happen, sadly.

How awkward was it when Christina's Court won for best Court Show?! Nobody clapped for the woman (did anybody know who she was?), and the dude got cut off. I loved it! I live for awkward shit like that. They shouldn't have been surprised that they were cut off, though... it took them 15 minutes just to get to the damn stage.

Tom Pelphrey winning Younger Actor was alright, I guess. He's a damn good actor, but I was really rooting for Van Hansis. I've seen clips of his stuff, and I think he does very good with the Luke role. I was really hoping he'd win for "the gay story." Oh well. Pelphrey fighting back tears choked me up a bit.

FUCK YOU, JENNIFER LANDON!! Right up your overrated lily white ass! Rachel Melvin deserved that award! She submitted the best tape, damn it. Damn it, damn it! Jennifer's speech was stupid, too. Was she high? I think so. I hope she drops the Emmy and breaks it. I suppose I shouldn't be disappointed, because I knew it would happen. But all over the place I kept hearing everyone say that they WANTED Melvin to win (even on non-Days boards) and that she submitted good tapes. I couldn't help but get a little bit optimistic. Can you imagine how cute Rachel would've been on that stage with an Emmy in her hand? Gah. I hate Jennifer Landon. OVERRATED! I hope her Emmy breaks. *flips Landon the bird*

Gina Tognoni winning Supporting Actress... meh. I was hoping for Heather Tom, but I figured Tognoni would get it. She's good too, I just don't see Dinah when I see her. Also, I have to comment on Judi Evans underwhelming Bonnie clip. They should've shown the clip of her as Adrienne in the nuthouse -- she was damn good in that episode! The clip of her as Bonnie and Thaao as Clowndre totally made Days look like a joke, LoL. Couldn't they have shown clips from their more serious episodes? Anyway, I digress...

So happy for Kristoff St. John winning Supporting Actor!! He's one of the few daytime actors who doesn't ham it up for every scene. He knows the importance of subtlety and I've never seen him fail to deliver. Consistently good, he deserved that win.

Tony Geary wins Lead Actor... yawn. Seriously... YAWN.

Then there's Jeanne Cooper. Okay, here's the deal. I love Cooper. I love Katherine Chancellor. But damn it, Jeanne Cooper was not a Lead Actress in 2007! I know, it only takes one or two good tapes, but if that's the case, why not let some of the Crimson Lights waiters and waitresses submit an episode for Lead Actor/Actress, too? I suppose this is where we get into the argument of "she didn't have leading story, but she's an icon for the show, which makes her a leading lady regardless." I suppose that's true, but I also think it's a copout. There's a difference between leading lady and Lead Actress. I'm sick of people winning awards in the Lead categories who barely had story for the year! It's just stupid. The same thing happened with Genie Francis, who returned to GH for what... a month and a half? Yet she still won the Lead Actress award the following year. Pssh! Such a copout.

Oh well. Even though Jeanne didn't deserve the award (IMO), I'm still happy for her. She seemed genuinely shocked and honored, so I can't stay pissed for too long. I loved her thanking the LOUSY writers/directors/etc. :)

All in all, another craptastic Emmy ceremony. At least Days didn't come in dead last. AMC got even fewer nominations and no wins, heh. That delights me. On to next year's trainwreck!

I'd applaud it if it didn't come from Tyra Banks. I can't stand that bitch and her constant need to turn everything into a conversation about her.

She'll have a guest on her show who... say... was molested by her father and is now an obese sex addict... and somehow Tyra will manage to turn it into a conversation all about herself while throwing in a few Top Model plugs at the same time. So annoying!

For someone who claims that looks and beauty aren't everything, she's awfully damn vain and talks an awful lot about looks/makeup/hair/etc. She can't go five minutes without referencing a model or a beauty product or a special weave or a pair of shoes or some shit. Can't stand her! LoL

I was also rubbed the wrong way when KD called SH the "real" Marty. Yes, she may be, but it's still rude to say on national TV, I think.
Oh, absolutely. What a slap in the face to what's her name, LoL.

I keep reading all the comments over and over and over. And just laugh. We knew this year more than any other year people didn't watch the Emmy reels yet people keep commenting on who had the best reel. It doesn't matter who had the best reel when nobody watched them.

And some are coming off as if this is a surprise to them. Come on people - they have been voting for name recognition for years. How in the hell do you think Irene Dailey won over Beverlee McKinsey, Susan Hayes, and Victoria Wyndham in particular in 1979. All 3 had better tapes and a whole lot more material than Dailey did, but Dailey had the name plus her brother was a respected actor and so was she in the Broadway community.

How do you think Uta Hagen got a Supporting Actress nomination for very little work on OLTL years ago? Or someone like Julius LaRosa who hardly had anything to do on Another World but got a Supporting Actor nomination. Even Macdonald Carey and Helen Gallagher got all their nominations much to the help of their names and the fact that so many in the business knew them. neither one of them deserved back to back awards in the 70's but they got them.

At least today some of the lesser knowns get a chance at nominations. People like Janice Lynde on Y&R and others who were equally as good in the 70's had no chance at getting nominations.

There are a lot less people these days that get overlooked than there were in the 70's. There are so many that deserved nominations in the 70's and 80's who never even had a chance at getting them:

Tudi Wiggins (LOL); Nicolas Coster (AW); Kathryn Hays (ATWT); Eileen Fulton (ATWT); Janice Lynde (Y&R); Jeanne Cooper (Y&R); Tom Ligon (Y&R); Constance Ford (AW); Gillian Spencer (OLTL & ATWT); Nancy Pinkerton (OLTL); Maureen Garrett (GL); Jada Rowland (Doctors); Patricia Barry (Days); Barbara Rodell (ATWT) and many others deserved noms in the 70's, but most of them didn't have the name factor or their shows didn't stand a chance at Emmy time. Even Emily McLaughlin who got a Golden Globe nomination - the only daytime soap actress to ever be nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series - yes for her role on GH - couldn't even get an Emmy nomination. And she was spectacular.

Back then the noms were almost even worse than today. Almost every year it was MacDonald Carey, John Beradino, Mary Stuart, Susan Seaforth, Helen Gallagher, Rachel Ames, and Bill Hayes.

Every so often someone new would slip in but they were pretty much perennial nominees back then.

Sure there are injustices today but they are hardly new at all, and in many ways today is better in regards to people have a better chance of getting nominated. Years ago someone like Rachel Melvin would not have even stood a chance at getting a nomination ever.

Amen, Kenny!
There seems to be so much love for Tyra, and I just can't stand the Oprah-wannabe bitch!

EVERYTHING is always about her...she can't stop talking about herself, and brings herself up at the most inappropriate times. I think her teleprompter reads "me me me me me me me". If there is one tv personality that I could live without, it would be Tyra.
Just seems so blatantly fake to me!

I honestly think she let her weight balloon because Oprah has had so much success and empathy dealing with her weigh issues...and Tyra can't wait to be Oprah...it's on her list:
Get fat...check
Don't get married...check
Yell when you get excited....check
Try to relate to a middle class audience when you are a rich supermodel who in the 90's refused to get out of bed for less than $10,000...
