Dr. Death Returns to Oakdale
June 18, 2008 2:56 PDT By Sarah Tatting
Watch out, Oakdale! Dr. Ric Decker (John James), a.k.a. Dr. Death, is making his way back to "As the World Turns" on Tuesday, July 15.
The charming Dr. Ric first showed up as a love interest for Susan Stewart (Marie Masters) back in 2003, and quickly nabbed himself a job at Memorial Hospital. And pretty soon ... patients and staff started dying. But no one believed the culprit could possibly be Ric. Even though the murders began right after he dropped into town. Even after they found out he'd been accused of killing patients at another hospital. Yep, this guy was that good.
Eventually, he was caught -- but not before terrorizing the living daylights out of both Susan and her daughter, Alison. Then, he was thrown in a mental hospital, where he later met Barbara Ryan (Colleen Zenk). Babs made Ric believe she was in love with him in hopes that he might help her escape. Her plan worked -- but Ric figured out Barbara's deception and tried to kill her, too. When that didn't work, Dr. Ric slipped away into the night, never to be heard from again ... until now.
We have to admit, we always hoped that John would return to play the superbad villain. He's just so much fun to watch in this role. But then, he's been pretty awesome in every role he's had, from Jeff Colby on "Dynasty" to Jeff Martin on "All My Children."
And now we're dying to know -- what kind of kind of thrills and chills will John's crazy doc bring this time around? Guess we'll find out soon enough!
Are you excited for Dr. Ric's deadly return?

|I wonder if this will give Barbara or Susan a story?|

||It seems pretty pointless to me - kind of like everything else on ATWT, right now.|

I have been watching ATWT the last 2 days and I don't understand why everyone is saying it's bad?
Did I miss something the 8 months I stopped watching?

Oy, where to even begin...
Here's what you've missed in a nutshell
- The destruction of Craig and Rosanna (at the altar of Paul/Meg, no less)
- AMEERA (ugggh)
- SOFIE (double ugggh)
- Holden and Carly (BARF)
- Juicy Janet and Liberty
- Emily screwing Casey
I stopped watching shortly after it was announced that Martha Byrne was leaving, so I'm sure I've left out even more shit, but basically ATWT has been a dark-spirited, boring clusterfuck.

ATWT has some dud stories! Doesn't every soap?
ATWT has some characters that are duds!Doesn't every soap?
I admit there are some things I haven't liked lately but I am not going to focus on that and jump at the chance to crow about it.
This show minus those"duds" has one of the best casts going.
Latley I have enjoyed seeing Lisa more. I wished the Chris/Ali story had been a little better written but we got to see Bob and Kim and Susan and see that old Hughes /Stewart rivalry is still there! We have seen a lot of Tom and Margo lately and they are remembering their anniversary.
So Emily is f...king Casey? That is so true to those Stewart women. First there was Bob,then Tom now Casey.
I guess the only thing that saves Daniel is that he is a Stewart also,LOL.
Back to the subject at hand-------
I loved John James as Rick Decker and I am looking forward to seeing him again.
The only thing that would top that would be if they brought the great Anthony Herrera back as James Stenbeck!

I loved the DR. Death story. Will be interesting to see how this turns out.
As far as ATWT, I have given it up. But I don't see it as any worse than the other shows. I have given them all up except for OLTL.
As James said, they all have bad stories and they all have bad characters. Right now none of them are exempt.

|I'm in the minority as usual, but I think Casey and Emily are hot!|
