Source: SOW Nicole confesses her big secret to EJ this week: Trent is her husband. Arianne Zucker discusses the surprise story turn and its implications. SOW: The week begins with Trent catching Nicole with EJ again and reminding her he has something on her. Does Nicole cower? AZ: Totally. It's like when you go to your parent's house and revert to that kid again. She wants to stand up to him and does at times, but then she regresses, Trent has that power over her. SOW: Trent tells Nicole he knows Max is in France and wants her to find out why. Does she? AZ: Nicole is reluctant. "Screw you. Do you own dirty work! I've done enough." Nicole tries, but she's not a big help. SOW: Ultimately, Nicole decides to tell EJ the truth about Trent. What prompts that? AZ: The trauma with Philip getting shot and Lucas getting beat up in prison. Nicole sees how much Chloe feels for both guys and tells her you never realize how much someone means to you until you are about to lose them. Nicole realizes she should take her own advice. So she goes to talk to the one person who won't judge her. SOW: What does she say? AZ: Nicole explains she met Trent when she was in college and fell for him. He manipulated her and she was vulnerable to it, because of "her porn past" with her father. They ended up getting married. Then, one day, Nicole packed her bags, left and didn't look back. She figured Trent would have divorced her on grounds of abandonment, but he never did. She didn't know they were still married. SOW: What's EJ's reaction? AZ: He's not shocked. He could tell there was something major going on between Nicole and Trent. EJ keeps cool. SOW: Nicole's concerned about how this affects her divorce settlement from Victor, right? AZ: Yes. Because it Nicole is married to Trent, her relationship with Victor is void. She's worried about keeping the settlement. EJ agrees to help her work things out. He can get Nicole out of this. SOW: What's EJ's response when Nicole reveals Trent ordered her to stay away from him? AZ: Part of him knew that. Nicole is finally being honest with him. SOW: Could EJ and Nicole actually be together? AZ: One would hope. Nicole is relieved she has someone on her side. Hopefully, she can get on with her life with EJ and have a life of love, instead of the life she's been living all these years - which has been all about money. |

Still a bit lame for a "big secret" but at least they're linking it to her father/the porn situation.

It sounds a little bit better now with Nicole not knowing about it. |

Wait, I thought Trent left Nicole...abandoned her...isn't that what the conversation was about in Chez Rouge? I expected EJ to be cool with it and to help her. I wonder how he is able to fix this for her though. Thanks for the article! |

Oh boo hoo! What has Higely done with Nicole? This is not Nicole. This whitewashed gold-digger who has only ever been misunderstoond and mistreated is not the one I have watched for years. And just how does one just flounce off and ASSUME that a marriage has been dissolved? Yeah that's what I would have done. Thanks Jonny! |

Itīs called character growth. Most of writers do that, only some like JER let the same character do the same mistakes again and again (ie. Sami). ;) |

Okay, if Nicole was in college when she and Trent got together, then she can't be Melanie's mother. |

Actually, it fits the timeframe perfectly. Nicole is in her mid-30's (Ari is 34). Melanie is supposed to be 16 or 17 (though the actress is older). If Nicole got pregnant in her first or second year of college, her daughter would be about that age. |

It's not even character growth. Nicole has acted like this before, when she was afraid Eric would find out about her past, when Paul get out of prison, when Victor abused her. This is not a new side of Nicole like everyone are saying. |

I agree. I think they have laid the groundwork nicely and have actually done their homework. This was a good interview. If anyone should be happy with Higley's material, it's Ari. She's really the only character Higley has had a consistent vision and direction for. The character has grown. She's fallen for EJ and even showed her softer side to him. She knows he can read her and that he picks up on why she acts out. It's to cover up her hurt...her longing for love and her thinking she will never find love. I like the sound of this. I really hope Nicole and EJ end up together. So much potential. |

She wasn't always a gold digger, she was donkey over applecart for Brady. I would have rather the excuse was that she didn't file for a divorce because she was afraid that Trent would find her and assumed that Trent did. Just assuming isn't smart for a savvy woman like Nicole. I would hope that Nicole would find someone who would love her, but I don't see it with EJ. I can see them being BFF but unless something massive happens (wish I would have happened before sex, and not after) all I can see her as now is the rebound girl. |

ICAM with you post! I just love it when that when that happens! IMO at this time, Nicole and EJole are examples of the writers best work. I find them believable, unexpected, revealing and human. I hope the writers keep up the good work. |

Does anybody think that should Nicole turn out to be Melanie's mother that Trent isn't her father? Perhaps Nicole was pregnant when she married Trent and he told Nicole that the baby died and then she took off and Trent raised her? From what we know, Trent isn't a very nice guy. |

I wouldn't rule out the possibility of Trent not being the father. Afterall, this is DAYS. However, if Trent isn't the father, that would eliminate his purpose in the storyline and his connections with Nicole. It would be much more dramatic and meaningful especially for Max if Trent were Melanie's father. |

Higley will find a way to make Nicole Melanie's mother, no matter how contrived it may be. Mark my words. |

^It wouldn't be contrived. It's actually been set up right the way they story has been executed, which means it may not happen because it actually makes sense LOL. |

It would be if Higley's the one writing the story. Contrived is all she knows how to do. |
