The full report has not been put up but Days did hit a new low in the 18 to 49 this week. That was in the ABC Ratings Report. They got a 1.0 in 18-49 this week.

Well what cna you say? When she is writing her women (especially the young women) as pathetic weak minded simpletons....it turns off women viewers.

CORRECT.

(And I think it's all the women on Days who are being written terribly, not just the younger ones.)

All I can say about DOOLS is HOLY FUCKING SHIT! Wake up Dena, sister you can easily see where the fuck you went wrong in your story telling, fix it and let's move the fuck on. This show is in serious trouble. What the hell is wrong with TPTB, they just do not get it.

But she can't. I really think she is not capable of delivering a well-written story.

GET EM STEPH!!

In regards to Days, it held tough for all of April and May when nothing happened. Dena and co just took too long to get things going or at least to provide something exciting so they are paying for it now. The golf preemptions to June started it and it's almost like it gave those who still were patient a reason to tune out. Now, it looks like August will bring us that but who knows how much damage is done.

What's important to point out is all these numbers are scary. Days' drop is scary but it's still only in 6th in 18-49. Yes, it's a new low and yes it may hit a new low in HH but Days is only part of the big picture. Days always seems to go down first and others soon follow (just look at last year...Days fell and others joined it). All but two of the soaps are close to falling into the 1.0's if not there already.

I don't think anything can make a difference. Just like I've been saying all year, not even a good HW can reverse this trend. I think we're past that. I think we passed that point a few years ago, actually. I think now soaps just need to hold on to the audience they have and hope for the best. I think that is all that can be done now, sadly.

The shows don't really care about ratings anymore. I heard.

It's just their budget they worry about now, which is going to be slashed anyway.

That is why no show panics about their ratings anymore.

Isn't 18-49 THE demo to win? Did Days hold the record for winning that demo the most weeks in a row and it was for over a year? Guess there is no ice cream in the stuido these days. So much for Corday's promises and comments about Higley knowing what women want.

I'm afraid that DAYS is done and all soaps will be gone in under five years.

Sad, just sad.

There are just so many choices and it appears that even loyal soap fans if they don't like a certain direction their soap is taking in regards to their favorite characters they have so many options Oprah, Dr. Phil, Ellen, Rachel ....

It's quite likely only 3 or 4 soaps will still be on air in 5 years time: Y&R, B&B, GH probably will survive, but I wouldn't be too confident about the others.
The rot for DAYS set in some years ago! Blame Corday, the man has made some poor choices recently!

Yep. I believe the first 3 to go will be Days,ATWT and GL.I don't see any of them being renewed beyond next year. The death of daytime soaps is coming upon us

I figured as much.

I heard that is partly why Days was renewed by NBC. That and they see Days as a way to promote other NBC programs and causes (Green movement, autism).

I'm not surprised that DOOL has been struggling with their ratings. Passions is coming to an end and its cancellation is a constant reminder that DOOL has yet to issue a formal announcement in regards to it's contract, or lack there of, with NBC.

I think I know why OLTL can't get their ratings up despite people saying the show is great lately.

I have been watching this 40th anniversary stuff and the dialogue writing is pretty awful and could use a lot of work. But not only that, the acting on this show is some of the absolute worst I've seen in ages.

Maybe they need to hire an acting coach??? That or maybe they should put more money into their cast and writing budget and spend a little less on extras, costumes and sets instead. Those things are great but not if you are suffering where it really matters which is the day to day writing and the acting. Bad acting and bad dialogue stand out like sore thumbs and turn the audience off.
