I firmly believe that until Corday is kicked upstairs, there isn't a writer on this planet that can save the show.

Nelson posted this at Goldderby... what does this mean??
"This DAYS story is going to break your hearts. It's a sad, sad, world in daytime. There's NO hope."
Okay, THAT doesn't sound good at all. Oh no.
Why do I think that this has something to with the only saving grace of Days -- Ed Scott?
He also posted this: "This story is the news story of the year. It's way nastier than I thought."

Okay, THAT doesn't sound good at all. I have a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that this might possibly mean that Higley's back in and Ed Scott's out. :ermmmm:

OMFG, if Corday fired Ed Scott just to make Higley happy, I absolutely REFUSE to watch the show until she's gone! That woman is a soap writing abomination! There has to be something going on between Corday/Higley -- as in, under the sheets. There's no other explanation as to why he's constantly fucking his parents show over just to make that talentless hack happy.
Meanwhile, if Higley's gone... maybe this means Martha Madison will be allowed to return? Maybe? *crosses fingers* I still haven't forgiven Higley for that mistake.

Couple that with people at SON (and Brimike, here) saying hold that thought, don't celebrate just yet, makes me wonder if the real exit is Ed Scott.
Which would be about the dumbest move Days has ever made - and they have quite a list already as we all know.

I'm really starting to fear for Ed Scott now. He's the ONLY thing that's keeping DAYS afloat and if he's gone, DAYS is as dead as the dodo.

God, I hope this doesn't mean Ed Scott is jumping back to Y&R. Personally, that is the only way I can see him leaving Days. He has a huge level of cast and crew support and Sony wants him at Days. I can see Sony approving of him returning to Y&R because they were looking for an EP upgrade and maybe Hogan likes working with him and all.
If that is the case, my optimism regarding Days will take a heavy hit. I will still watch but the one thing that really helped this year was Ed Scott. Without him, I would say the actors would've stopped trying. I think he keeps them all from falling into the patterns they fell under with phoning it in when the material sucks.
It could also be related to stealing writers or maybe Grffith from Y&R. Maybe Nelson is speaking from a standpoint of not liking Griffith and that is why he said what he said.
Personally, as long as Ed Scott is still with Days, I'm good.

How does this bad news involve Y&R though? I know Ed Scott used to work there, but Nelson made it sound like the story involves Y&R in some other way... something more involved.

I would LOVE for Sherri to return, she is a person who knows what she wants to do and doesn't screw it up.
This is something she said about JM years ago after a fan asked her about them.
I have always been, and will always be a John and Marlena fan. When I was lucky enough to meet Pat Falken Smith and she hired me as her assistant, Deidre Hall was the first audition I was involved in. And when I returned to Days of our Lives in the early 80s, the recast of Roman was our top priority. Thus, both Deidre and Drake have a huge part of my heart. What they have individually as both characters and people, which is magnified as a couple, is likability and warmth. There is an amazing comfort factor, and when it's wrapped in such glorious packages who can resist it?
Another thing she once said from answering a fan question.
If you were to become head writer of Days ever again, would you want to make John Roman again?" - Jiggs
Jiggs, In my mind and heart Drake will always be Roman. When I wrote for Josh Taylor when he was Chris Kositchek I loved him, and perhaps it's my clinging to the past, but one reason I stopped watching the show was that Roman recast. Josh is a terrific actor, but doesn't have the particular kind of likability that Roman needs. If only he'd been brought back as Chris--who was a great, sexy character! Plus I've never felt the all-too-critical heat between him and Deidre that a true supercouple needs. No one connects like Drake and Deidre!
Would I want to make John into Roman again? In a heartbeat. Could it be done? I'm not sure. It would take alot of maneuvering--perhaps even falling back on the old trick of this all being a 10 year long nightmare!
For me, Days has had so many writers rewriting history that I as a viewer don't trust it any more. It's not just that the dead come back to life so easily, but when established characters have new 'loves of their lives' I feel cheated. I want to know that Bo will always love Hope, Jennier will love Jack, Roman (Drake's Roman!) will always be passionately commited to Marlena--and even if they're separated because of emotional circumstances they'll always be the love of each other's lives. And some how they'll always get back together. People CAN love more than one person, but in different ways.
But that's just me!
I hope the producers grow a brain and bring Sherri back,PLEASE.
Thank God she's not writing for the show. Her vision is so unreal and cartoonish, yuck.

When he says it's a sad, sad world for daytime - sad for US or sad for him? It's hard to say but for the most part, Nelson pretty much reads our minds.

^I liked Sheri. I really did. Her second run with JER was really good. Much better then her first IMO, which was what I grew up on. I just don't think her as sole HW will work. She needs a co-HW that can mix it up. Sheri on her own will just be one romantic adventure after another. That is why fanbases like her. However, they don't realize that Sheri may do to their couples what she did to others (Doug and Julie) in the 80's and that is backburner them to start anew with young, fresh couples.

Obviously some huge nasty shit went down and it involves Days and Y&R - both Sony shows. I think Corday is going to pick-slip anyone that clashes with his vision (laughable as it may be) of the show.
I still can't believe that Corday allowed Higley to write off Shawn and Belle but I honestly think that Corday was hoping to get Storms and Cook back, although I've never read anything to confirm that. Just my spec.
