I appreciate Nelson telling us what he knows when no one else wants to open up about it.
ITA! Thanks again, Nelson.

Joe was clearly a Corday move. It had kneejerk reaction written all over it.

In Joe's podcast interview with Daytime Confidential, he said that Corday went through hell with the strike and that there was nothing going on for Stefano so Joe told Corday to call him back when things were settled. From what I gather, Corday called him and said he wouldn't be returning and Joe got pissed because it was also around the time his father passed so he was already emotional. Then, Corday saw fan backlash to Joe being axed and to J&M's story taking unfavorable turns. That and there was no story for Tanna or Bope either so he figured bringing Stefano back could solve all that so it was yet another kneejerk reaction. I'm sure Higley hated it. It was under her first reign that Corday went on and on about distancing Tony and the show from Stefano.

As I said, even without this scandal, I saw the writing on the wall. Just like every other writer, once they lose favor with Corday and stand up to him, he will axe them. I see that point coming very soon, especially with Higley having as short a fuse as she clearly has.

I was asking questions, but I'm not intending to attack Nelson or fail to give him credit. I used to be a journalist, and I know the importance of checking your facts and getting your sources together before reporting anything. I'm just wondering if someone jumped the gun and gave him some bad information, and he was eager to report it, and now no one is confirming his story? I can see DAYS/Corday denying that anything's wrong. We all know how Ken's nose grows every time he opens his mouth.

I saw Nelson's post earlier today saying that more was coming, but nothing has come. I'm wondering if DAYS' lawyers, fearful about the WGA mess, have threatened TV Guide Canada and now TV Guide Canada is telling Nelson to keep a low profile until this gets sorted out?

i think bringing joe was is an attempt for a short term ratings boost. which if the writing continues as it has the last couple of months it will be in vain, they could bring christ reincarnated on the show and with the writing it wouldnt help with the writing as it is right now...whoever the hell is doing it

Oh If I made it sound like you were attacking Im sorry, I didn't mean it to come off that way.

I know that Nelson said he had more than one source to corroborate the news. :)

And you could be right on the second part of the post.

If they promoted from within instead of hiring an outside writer, I would imagine Rick Draughon (Higley's current Co-HW) would get the HW job.
So what is the deal with RD? Is he any good? Could he bring Days out of the shitter if allowed to take over?
Eh, I doubt it, personally. Except for an online soap, he's never been a HW before, so there's really no past work to go on.
Couldn't that be a positive though, especially if he is an actual fan of the show. He could bring a freshness and new ideas to the writing.

I have been watching this show since I was six or seven years old, with my mom. I can remember Marie as a nun, for Pete's sake. I remember Dee Hall's real sister actually on the show. I can remember Marlena married to Don Craig, and the SIDS s/l. I still download songs by Gloria Loring to listen to just for nostaligia. I can't stand the thought of Days going off the air.
Wow. We must be about the same age. Remember Maggie's dancing shoes? Addie's death? Wow....good stuff..........
LOL, we all must be around the same age. I remember all that very vividly. And that's the thing: If you're a Days fan, you're a Days fan for life. That's why many of us veteran watchers are so extremely upset over this mess. We have a long and vested interest in Days and hate to see what it has become. Maybe it's better to prepare for the worst but hope for the best.

Those were wonderful times... when DJ died of crib death... (now he'd somehow have survived that and been spirited away by Stefano)
When Samantha had Marlena put into the sanitarium....

Eugene and Calliope

Quinn Redeker

good stories that's all it takes....

I go take a nap to sleep off a headache and I wake up to...

ErikaKaneFan4Life?! Good grief!

And as for Nelson, I support his decision to run with this story. Because I know as well as he does that there was one. I know SOMETHING happened with Higley because I heard that it was the talk of the set yesterday. And I heard that from someone that was ON the set.

Beth Millstein was acting headwriter between Reilly and Hogan and I think she did an amazing job. Her stories were witty and fast moving and romantic. I would love to see her back in the top spot. I'll probably get completely attacked for saying this but I think a co-head writing team of Beth and JER would save the show as long as the producers actually let them write the show. By himself, JER does stupid things but he did seem more in tune with the fans - he just needed someone to toss out his really stupid ideas and inject a little wit and SPEED into his storylines and dialogue and I think Beth would do that.
Beth wrote this - one my all time favorite scenes ... now this was romance at its finest!

I'm with ya'll, the summer of 2006 is what drew me back in to DAYS after about a ten yr on and off again absence. Scenes like cjnick posted got me watching full time again. Now, once again I'm on again off again

Summer of 2006 was a bit slow but around Mid-August it got really good and it fed into a great Fall.

I like Beth and I think she would work well as a co-HW. As the sole HW, no way. She's great at character interaction and history. She's also great at pacing. You put her with a solid storyteller with good ideas and you may have something.

I just realized Nelson also hasn't posted his Nelson Ratings yet so I think he must have his reasons for laying low right now. I'm sure once he can report anything, he will.

THIS JUST IN: Deidre Hall, Drake Hogestyn, Peter Reckell, and Kristian Alfonso all just walked off the set. They apparently said "screw you" and "sue us" to Ken Corday. It's heartbreaking. They're furious with Ken because he just keeps getting dumber and dumber, and they're sick of it. Ken allegedly told someone close to the actors that he plans to apologize profusely and get them to change their minds.
UPDATE: Other media sources are saying the actors are still working and are still on the show. Well, I told you Ken was going to get them back.

Is this a game anyone can play?

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I'm beginning to believe a certain columnist has egg all over his face.
WTF, IS THIS REALLY TRUE THESE ACTORS ARE GONE!!!
OH MY GOD, IF IT IS TRUE, WAIT UNTILL IT HITS THE AIR WAVES!!!
IF THEY ARE GONE,THEN DAYS CAN R.I.P. FOR GOOD WITH THE CREATORS OF THE SHOW (MR. & MRS. C.)!!!
I AM SO UPSET!!!
I CAN BELIEVE THIS HAPPEN, THE 2 BEST SUPERCOUPLE GONE!!!
