Nelson posted this at Goldderby... what does this mean??

"This DAYS story is going to break your hearts. It's a sad, sad, world in daytime. There's NO hope."

Okay, THAT doesn't sound good at all.
Sounds like Days is not going to be renewed.
Oddly enough, that was my first thought as well.

For me, it came off like no hope for daytime as a whole. That, to me, could mean that Days perhaps stole Griffith (who was rumored to be on the outs soon enough anyway) from Y&R and Nelson may look at that as another hack coming to Days and TPTB not learning their lesson about recycling the same people over and over.
I'm not very familiar with Griffith. Why is he considered a hack?
He was one half of the regime responsible for OLTL's 90s heyday, with Michael Malone. They both came back in 2003 and by 2004 it was either Griffith or Malone writing solo (forget which), whoever was left, by the end of their time it sucked pretty hard core (Tico Santi...) - though did start out great.

Mine too but - In that TV Guide interview with Ed Scott, Scott said NBC renewed Days.

but then went on to say they were still working out logistics and budget - if you've signed a contract that stuff is already complete.

I would LOVE for Sherri to return, she is a person who knows what she wants to do and doesn't screw it up.

This is something she said about JM years ago after a fan asked her about them.

I have always been, and will always be a John and Marlena fan. When I
was lucky enough to meet Pat Falken Smith and she hired me as her
assistant, Deidre Hall was the first audition I was involved in. And
when I returned to Days of our Lives in the early 80s, the recast of
Roman was our top priority. Thus, both Deidre and Drake have a huge
part of my heart. What they have individually as both characters and
people, which is magnified as a couple, is likability and warmth. There
is an amazing comfort factor, and when it's wrapped in such glorious
packages who can resist it?

Another thing she once said from answering a fan question.

If you were to become head writer of Days ever again, would you want
to make John Roman again?" - Jiggs

Jiggs,
In my mind and heart Drake will always be Roman. When I wrote for
Josh Taylor when he was Chris Kositchek I loved him, and perhaps it's
my clinging to the past, but one reason I stopped watching the show
was that Roman recast. Josh is a terrific actor, but doesn't have the
particular kind of likability that Roman needs. If only he'd been
brought back as Chris--who was a great, sexy character! Plus I've
never felt the all-too-critical heat between him and Deidre that a true
supercouple needs. No one connects like Drake and Deidre!

Would I want to make John into Roman again? In a heartbeat. Could it
be done? I'm not sure. It would take alot of maneuvering--perhaps
even falling back on the old trick of this all being a 10 year long
nightmare!

For me, Days has had so many writers rewriting history that I as a
viewer don't trust it any more. It's not just that the dead come back to
life so easily, but when established characters have new 'loves of their
lives' I feel cheated. I want to know that Bo will always love Hope,
Jennier will love Jack, Roman (Drake's Roman!) will always be
passionately commited to Marlena--and even if they're separated
because of emotional circumstances they'll always be the love of each
other's lives. And some how they'll always get back together. People
CAN love more than one person, but in different ways.

But that's just me!

I hope the producers grow a brain and bring Sherri back,PLEASE.
Thank God she's not writing for the show. Her vision is so unreal and cartoonish, yuck.
Careful, Sindacco... :P ;)
Why should Sindacco be careful?

This is just something I heard but I heard that Corday thought people became down on Shelle because Martha and Brandon looked too old and weren't sexy enough. When I heard that, I pretty much was ready to grab my computer screen and toss the shit out the windown. Not sure if I buy that but I could see the dumbass thinking something like that.
Uh, then Ken needs a serious reality check. There were people down on Shelle THROUGHOUT the years because:

1. Belle was aged about 12 years
2. He pushed them as the next Bo and Hope and didn't allow some viewers a change to LEARN to love them
3. Through multiple recasts, he kept pushing them
4. He sacrificed other characters on the altar of Shelle (not to mention other potential couples: Shimi, Phelle)
5. He had half of Salem PIMPING them, despite how ridiculous it was (Sure, Hope. Give your stalker son your credit card to buy a plane ticket to Germany so he can beg a WIFE sitting by her injured soldier HUSBAND to leave said injured husband in a hospital bed in Germany)
6. Barn Sex conception is right up there with Bo's magic sperm as being the most contrived attempt at keeping paternity open
7. Even the actors weren't totally sold on it, from what i gather. I'm pretty sure Jason Cook was really happy with working with Farah. IT sounded like Martha Madison liked having Belle with Philip (both Philips, if I recall).

Now, I'm not saying that Shelle never had their fans. As someone on the losing side of the Shelle/Shimi wars :P , they were there. I just didn't see things the same way they did. (Huh. Imagine that!)

Oh, I didn't realize it was that Griffith. I remember their 'Storm of Change' story on OLTL back in 2002 or 2003. That was awesome! You're right when you say that it went downhill quickly though.

If anybody is looking for a hero in this story, you're not going to find one. Everybody just looks bad. It's sleazy, dirtbag, showbiz politics, and nobody... I mean NOBODY... is in the right. That's what's heartbreaking.
I hope the actors have their audition DVDs or whatever they use ready. Portfolios? I'm dumb about this stuff. What DO actors use when they're getting ready to run the audition circuit? At least Allison Sweeney and Blake Berris have fall-back jobs. I honestly think, if this is true, this could be the last excuse NBC needs to pull the plug and give us a final execution date.

Griffith isn't really a hack. However, when he's bad...he's really bad IMO.

But he would be new to Days so who knows. If it's LML, that may be hard to stomach.

I still think Days is renewed. I think if the strike controversy didn't hinder that, this likely won't. I still wonder if Dena heard that NBC or someone wanted her out and quit to save face and to end all the frustration.

Well, gee, just a friendly warning to Sindacco, followed by a couple of REALLY cute emoticons. Lighten the mood ya know. ;)
Now, back to the discussion of Dena Higley.

I loved the Storm of Change, I loved the whole Mitch Lawrence storyline. And I loved the characters be brought back like River, Dorian and David, and the shift in focus to Llanview University. And if any other writer had come in, I dont think we'd have Marcie on OLTL today, he really fleshed her out from Jen's fat lapdog into being a dynamic character.

But that Michael/Al bodyswitching thing, and the intro to the Santis ...... awful!

Calling this the soap news story of the year, it has to be big. It can't just be that Higley quit and was replaced with another hack, because that happens all the time. This sounds like something more sinister and serious.

Count me three....With ratings so low, I would not be shocked if they just scrapped DOOLS all together.

Why not just post it from the start? Why tease us? Sometimes I want them to cancel Days so it can end with at least some dignity.
